TSM with toddlers

I'm trying to remember exactly how this ride is set up, but if I recall correctly (and it's kinda blurry ), it's just a basic bench seat w/ a lap bar, right? I'd LOVE to ride it again since it's so much fun, but I'm not sure how I could play the game w/ a 24 month old along with me? I'm expecting to have to "hold on" to my boys in those type of seats since I don't think they'll sit still well enough to be safe.

Anyone ride this with a little one? I know there's no height requirement, but would they let you stand in line then switch out w/ the other parent? Or am I forgetting something about how the car is set up?

From what i remember i am almost positive that it is a bench but each person gets their own lap bar. Someone should back me up on this because i am not positive but i'm pretty sure. HTH

I think you're right. DH & I rode this for the first time recently, and I remember wondering how we'll do it on our next trip since DS2 will be with us. I'm interested to hear from anyone who has ridden with a toddler.

I rode this back in Sept. with my 12mo. old. It was a bit scary to be honest. All was fine except for the spinning part. The first time the car spun I thought, holy crap! Glad I was holding on tight to my little one. We still managed fine with all of the gadgetry and playing the game, just when the screen starts to count down to the end of the game, know to hold on TIGHT to that little one!

My son just sat in his own seat. He liked the spinning and he pulled on the string but he couldn't really shoot. Still loved the ride though and had a fit when it was time to get off.

My son absolutely LOVES rides though and has been sitting on his own since 19 months. He knows that if he misbehaves on a ride he won't be allowed on again. My son misbehaves and climbs all over everything normally, but he is an angel on rides (until it is time to get off ).

Just an FYI they told us no children in laps, and it does spin quickly so hold on tightly and have fun!!!

I had told my niece before the ride that they would not let her little one ride in her lap (from what I read on here), but they not only allowed it, they were the ones that suggested it. And the same thing happened when we rode it another time later in the day.

That's good! I hope that is the case. We went during the sneak preview and I almost had a heart attack my son was 16 months old.

I know we rode TSM at least 2 or 3 times when we were there last summer. I don't exactally remember if DH sat with our youngest each time or if I did one time. I mostly remember sitting with our older son. Our youngest was 3 at the time. I am postive that if he was only 19 months there would be no way I would let him sit there and hold on himself without also holding onto him. My son is very small for his age though.

We were there in Nov. Our youngest DD was 26 months. We have two older girls and DH and I each rode with one of the older girls and the baby in the middle. The bar covered her and I felt that she was secure with someone on each side of her--even when the other person was just a 5 year old. She couldn't shoot, but it is so animated that I think she found everything going on around her entertaining and didn't miss it.

It looks like you have one older child? Maybe just position your little one between two of you even if that means someone (you or DH) rides alone.

BTW, we did this at least 3 times on different days so I don't think the CMs had a problem with it.

Here are some pics of my youngest riding TSM in September. She was 26 months old, 25 pounds, and 35 inches to give you an idea. The bar kept her skinny, petite self nice and secure! She loved this ride and ended up riding it more than the rest of us! She even managed to score 500 points almost every time. LOL

Yikes, this has me scared now. My DD will be 17 mos and is very tiny at only 18 1/2 pounds. I didnt realize this ride spinned so much that it is scary for parents. Do you not have control of it like on Buzz? This will be our first time on it and Im glad for the heads up.

We were there yesterday with DS2 1/2. The lap bar kept him sitting, but everytime the car moved he would have been flung side to side. I held him next to me tight. Made it a little hard to play for me.

My youngest dd was 3 on our trip last summer and was 39" and 30 lbs, very petitie. She rode with dh and he had to hold onto her tightly during the spins.

Thanks! She loved that ride! She didn't even mind waiting in line for it when Daddy took her in the afternoons after Fast Passes were gone for the day. And as you can see, she loved to wear the "sunglasses"!! LOL

I really liked how TSM has the 2 separate bars. I wish other rides did too. The worst is when you get on Thunder Mountain or something and my 9 yr old DD goes and pulls that bar down with no warning and crushes my legs! TSM is a much less painful ride in that regard! LOL

Also, with the spinning of the car, I don't remember having to grab Avery or how fast we spun. I know that the bar was down tight in her lap but can't remember if the spinning affected her or not.

Hi, we rode in January with a 20 month old. The first time, my dh had her in the seat beside him and neither of us felt comfortable about it. For some reason, we thought she had to be in her own seat, but the second time, we saw someone else riding while we were in line and they had their child in their lap. He did that the next time and it was MUCH better.

It's a great ride and all my kids (9, 7, 3 and 20 month old) enjoyed it. have fun
