TSM standby-less test Oct. 6-9

What are the on-scene reports like for today's test? I don't have time to wade through all the posts in this thread.

Wish there was a way that those informational posts could be flagged/stripped out for quick reading.

Because right now it's a single ride for a few days. If this 'idea' spreads to multiple attractions, it could start to ruin days.

To be clear, I'm not defending this monumentally bad idea. But I do think it is bad enough that it doesn't need to be sabotaged to fail miserably.

I have seen one report come through that folks had a FP around 9:30 or so (can't remember for sure) and got right in no wait and they were sending thru empty cars.

Nobody should let one single attraction ruin their whole day. At best it may be a disappointment in an otherwise fine day...and a handful of disappointed guests may contribute to helping Disney see that this is a stupid idea.

When it's the only ride in a park available to the under 44' height, it's a day maker.

If they gave out different FPs per ticket/resort/onsite/offsite, I think that is the kind of thing that they would not advertise.

That way they can increase the satisfaction of such customers without ticking off everyone else. Also, how would they even advertise something like that.

On the other hand, I think if they increase the number of FPs for onsite etc, then that is something they would advertise.

I would think the opposite. This whole FP+ shebang is about manipulating crowds. How can they get the mice to run through the maze the way they want us to if we don't even know there's cheese at the end? I believe they'd for sure advertise all the perks of Deluxe lodging including more/better FP selections.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 No kidding! When I go next week, we will try to sign up for Jedi Training and we've thankfully got FP for Toy Story. Beyond that, I'm hoping my son finds some good snacks and enjoys people watching, because there's not a whole lot else he's excited about at DHS. If some permutation of this test affects our touring plans it could DEFINITELY be a day maker.

Stay in a deluxe resort, and you have unlimited FP+ to almost all rides, no planning, no reservation, enjoy your day, skip the long lines. Your overpriced resort room paid for it. It works perfectly at Universal Studios (except for the overpriced part). Perfectly.

They already have unlimited FP+ available for purchase at WDW...the VIP Tour.

I don't think they will ever link unlimited FP to resort stays.

Yeah, I agree, I could see it for more prebooked FPs. That they would advertise!

If they were just fiddling with which FPs...I think that would be harder to advertise and I think they would be opening a can of worms if they did...what happens when let's say a Deluxe customer can't get whatever ride, etc.

i would be VERY ANGRY if this were sprung on me unannounced...

after all the effort of getting to orlando (flying halfway around the world for 24 hours), the amount of money it costs to get there, stay there and get into the parks,,,and the planning effort....then for them to pull the rug out from under me with no warning whatsoever....as someone already posted, talk about taking away the magic...

I love Universal!

However that system would never be sustainable at WDW. The number of rooms is just not comparable.

In fact as UO adds room capacity I believe you see them shift closer to the WDW system as far patents allow.

At the risk of straying OT, I must disagree. Just looking on the internet (TripAdvisor and others), Disney has 4816 deluxe rooms, and Universal has 2400. So, Disney has twice as many rooms, and twice as many parks. Giving unlimited FP/FOL Pass to guests there should be the same burden on the parks.

So, I believe it would work just the same. And it is so universally loved (pardon the pun) at Universal, Disney will likely get there, just via a painful path.

Back to today's experiences...I haven't seen any reports of the guest reactions (pro and con) yet.

Here now. Sorry I don't have time to read all of the post so I hope this info is not repeated. I really feel for anyone who used their tier 1 fastpass on rocking roller coaster with the intent of rope dropping toy story. This is NOT possible duo this test. We were lucky enough to plan a toy story fast pass while rope dropping the coaster. I would not have been a happy camper if I was told I could not ride the ride even though I paid the full price of admission. Honestly, still not totally happy about it. My youngest would have loved to ride it again since she is too short for the coaster. This is our usual park strategy. Dad takes her to toy story while I ride the coaster with the older daughter. Needless to say, this did not happen today:-(

What a megalomaniac you are. If you really think you are going to stick it to Disney by playing your little game you really need a reality check. Rather than screwing with other peoples vacations, why don't you just call Disney and complain? You can do it five times, you can even do it eleven times, heck you can do it all day if you want as it seems like you have nothing else to do.

At HS today and they ran one group through of standby at rope drop ( we made it burn they turned people away right after us) and then completely shut down stand by for TSM. A lot of people were unhappy!

I cannot imagine that Disney would seriously consider a model where deluxe guests get unlimited FPs and all other guests get nothing (unless they pay). Even with some of the garbage they've pulled lately. The "free" FP concept is too deeply entrenched there.

Wow- feeling a little self important are we?

You really think your insignificant 5 fp's that you're intentionally grabbing from ticket paying guests are going to make a dent in what Disney decides to do???

Really???? You think you personally can derail WDW???? If it wasn't such a jerky thing to do I'd be :rotfl2:

What a crappy thing to do to people who are at the parks, wanting to ride with their kids. It's one reason ap holders shouldn't be allowed to book without a reservation- there are people like you who apparently get a kick out of making fp+ reservations when they aren't even going.

I totally agree. It's just plain evil to tie up spots for a popular ride that you know you won't use. Shame on you.

squelch that rumour you cannot use unlinked magic bands to get fastpases the fastpasses are linked to the tickets which are linked to mde. No ticket no fastpass.

Can you confirm that this has indeed been changed? As of Sept 29th, I was able to use multiple Fastpasses from my throwaway campsite with no issues at all.

It did not work with pre-booking FPs, it was only good with SDFPs at the kiosks.

See post #546 here for more detail: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3245463&page=37

Arriving on Friday, and was not able to get TSM FP+, so no TSM for us this trip:confused3. Does anyone know if the test will go past the 9th?
