Okay assuming you are there at rope drop and assuming you want to ride TSM at least twice what would you do? Ride first or get a fast pass first?!? We'll be there mid June so it will be pretty crowded.

Rope Drop

1. Get Fast Pass #1
2. Get in regular line and ride (no matter how long it looks, it isn't even close to as long as it will be later on)
3. When done, get Fast Pass #2 (one minute past time available)
4. Use Fast Pass #1
5. Walk around, people watch, do One Man's Dream
6. Use Fast Pass #2

:woohoo: :woohoo:

We'll be there in 17 days doing it ourselves!

we went there for rope drop, I got fast passes (the lines were insane) and the rest of the family rode the ride. When we returned to ride, we got fastpasses on the way out. three times in one day for a ride that has the longest lines. not too shabby.

This is what we did....this is all getting there at rope drop and my DH practically running to TSM and being the 2nd person to get a fastpass.

1. Get Fast Pass first....
2. Went and saw Mermaid Show
3. Rode TSM
4. Got off and immediately got fast pass - this fast pass was for after 5pm!!!!
5. Rode TSM again sometime in evening

So, we only got to ride it twice. We had a 2 and 4 yr old with us and there was no waiting in long lines for us so we did the fast passes for everything.

We actually went back to HS the day we checked out and were only staying at the park until about 3. We didn't get there until about 11 and it was an almost 2 hr wait and the fast passes were for after 5pm again so we didn't get to ride it again!

Depends on how bad the lines are for getting the FPs.

Assuming they are bad (which is more likely to be the case), I would ride first, then get the FP.

The standby line should be shorter than it will be if it's after I get the FP.

The wait to get the FP should be less if I wait until after I ride than if I try to get the FP first thing.

With this strategy, I stand in a shorter line two times (hopefully!).

send one member ahead to be the FP runner. Make sure they are the only ones to jockey a position at rope drop. Make your way with the rest of your party quickly but out of the way of the FP runners, if everything times out correctly your FP runner should be able to meet you at the stand by line and you all get in together with FPs already in hand to ride a second time later on.

Then get a 2nd set of FPs as soon as that window opens.

This is very similar to our Soarin strategy. I think we're going to try it on our next trip with TSM.:goodvibes

We just returned late last night from a may 1- may 10 visit.
We arrived on three different days between 9 and 9:30am to DHS last week. Sun on Fantasmic day DH got in fast pass line, got fast passes and was to us before we got into building. The Dad's were joining the families in line so DH followed suit and we rode first then rode with fast pass. The line stated 40 min but we only waited about 20. After our 11:00 am fast pass time we got a third for later in the day.
Day 2 and 3 we got FP and then rode stand by, both wait times were under 40 min. (we are not willing to wait more than 40 for a ride). DD had ridden enough so we didn't get any additional FP on those days but the wait times and crowds were very easy. The heat on the other hand was incredible, I think they broke some records last week. :goodvibes

I would ride first since the lines should be shortest that time of day. Then get a fast pass for later.

Thanks everyone - I appreciate the tips. If we send a FP runner ahead will it be hard for that person to find us in the stand by line. Is there an obvious entrace to the stand by line? It sounds like a mob scene and I hate to separate the family if we don't have to.

I'd get a fast pass first then get in the stand-by line. If you went in stand-by first, you never know what could happen..For example, you could get stuck on the ride or something. By the time you got off, the fast pass time could be already for way later in the day.

I think the entrance is pretty obvious. If you each have a cell phone, you could use those to find one another in a crowd. DW and I had to do that more than once.

But me theory is although I would love to ride it twice, if I get in line right away I am guaranteed at least one ride. And chances are that the line will be no longer than 20 minutes, and the fp line will die down. Also my DHS studios day I will be there all day so I will be able to get a FP even if its later that day. Thats my thought anyway.

We were there this past Saturday at 8 AM. I planted my DD in line and got fast passes, then caught up to her. The line was still out in the street, so it was no problem.

We were there last week at rope drop and the FP line was very long, so we just got into the stand-by line. We got off TSM about 25 minutes later and there were no lines for FP anymore. Our return time was for noon. FP were all gone by the afternoon (maybe 2PM?)

We loved the ride but one or two times on that day is plenty for us. So......my DH gets the FP's first thing and then we go to another big ride (ToT,RnR) or something else.

Then, later on we get another FP for it and ride it in the evening. We were able to do this Easter week so I would think you could do it ANY week if we did it then.

If I wanted to get it "done" with, then I might get the FP then wait in the line and ride it standby. It is a cute ride......much better than Buzz, imo. And I like Buzz.

Yes, if they are in line outside the building, you probably don't have a problem catching up with them. Otherwise, I think it's frowned upon. I thought I had read on here before our trip that they monitor this pretty well in the morning but we didn't do it, so I don't know.

Get FP head over to RNR and TOT ride those. Get 2nd FP for TSM.

That's what we did.

Now, you have to understand, I try to plan so that we don't stand in any lines over 20/25 minutes. Call me crazy, but I don't like standing in a line when I can FP it and wait 5/10 minutes. Easter week, one of the busiest of all year, we waited in one line at MK for 25 minutes and another for 18. All the other waits for us at all 4 parks were in the 1 to 10 minute range. It can be done.
