TSA...Question...

Funny you should mention this...didnt they bring down a plane into Logan today with a woman carrying vasaline, a screwdriver and a set of matches...OH and the letter that had something written about Al-quaida (sp?)...hmmm..how did that get past our precious tsa?

Again, it doesnt take a genius to mix a little of this and some of that...but now...explain to me how she manage to walk thru the security gates with a SCREWDRIVER???? last I knew they weren't plastic and were pretty easy to spot...someone wasn't paying attention....

Um, it didn't go through TSA? This was a flight originating in London.

Also, I don't know what UK procedures are, but screwdrivers are allowed on US flights. :confused3

Sorry-I didnt even see where the flight originated...but with the "heightened security" how did she manage to get on in the UK...amazing.

NO EXCEPTION.
Of course, you need to realize that your personal preference in this regard doesn't trump the professional determination of the experts actually charged with the responsibility to make these decisions.

It is sad to see that they put the safety of all of us in the hands of someone who has a high school diploma and has taken a security guard class...
Actually, he graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1975 and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1978.

Regardless of who you were referring to, to assume lack of intelligence because the people who make decisions make decisions you disagree with is pretty unfair, and without merit.

(again MY OPINION-dont flame me for that)
Ditto, then.

Do you honestly think that this "liquid seive" is making you safer?
I believe this presumption on the part of many that their own personal feelings on the matter should trump those of the professionals and experts who are crafting our nation's national defense makes us all less safe. I think people need to take a step back and recognize that it isn't always about the niggling specifics that annoy them, but rather is about the bigger picture. If you want a different nation, then elect different leaders. I suspect, however, that when you go into the voting booth, you're going to be driven to put people in power who do exactly as the folks at DHS are doing today, because what they're doing is the best compromise available among the conflicting priorities of the American people.

I am all for Saftey. I am not for "knee jerk" reactions that do NOT IMHO make you any safer.
I am against knee jerk reactions, as well -- in this case, the knee jerk reactions of some passengers to the new safety rules.

That was a fiction created by the media. No such material was found.

She was able to get on the flight in the UK because she didn't actually have any of the items an "airport spokesman" told the press about.
