TSA Pre Check and Global Entry suspended **Post # 29 apparent update --

I caught a flight out of Logan this morning. Of course I got there 3 hours early today thinking of the above. And then breezed right through TSA.

We are flying into Dublin out of PHL tomorrow night - hearing all these horror stories about security lines, but every time I check security at PHL the wait is 5-15 minutes. Plus we have GE so now I'm second guessing my arrival time! I think we will still get there way to early and have more than enough time to sit down and have a leisurely dinner.
Man I hate to have extra hours to waste in the airport, but I guess better safe than sorry in this case.

Horror stories will always hit social media. I know someone who flew yesterday. She checked security times online all day. Were typical/low all day. When she arrived it was just like any other travel day.

We went through MCO this past Saturday morning out of Terminal C (Jetblue). Pre-check line wasn’t bad and we were the only ones using Clear. We went through security in less than10 minutes. Pre-check was slightly longer, but not much. We only use Clear when it’s available because Amex pays for it.

And I'm not even on Social Media - so I'm glad I'm not seeing that! I did get a email from the TSA warning me though, thought that was odd. Oh well.

Yeah I was in and out of BWI & MCO a week ago for work as well and it wasn't' bad at all either.

I always give international trips extra time! It’s just so much at stake. (The one time I decided I’d be chill and only arrive 2 hours early instead of 3 at my smallish airport American Airlines like Saber system went down and the line to check in was a couple hundred people deep as they had to hand process everyone. Thankfully I was business class so I got to cut the line and their system came back up like half an hour later so everyone was good- but boy was that a lesson lol.)

Global Entry helps you on the way back not when leaving the U.S. but if you're flying back to the U.S. from Dublin they also utilize Pre-Clearance for multiple airlines which means you go through Customs in Dublin if flying directly back into the U.S.

You may be meaning TSA Pre-Check that comes included when you do Global Entry which helps you on the way out of the country not back into the country.

Some things can't be predicted like KCI's bomb threat which was not found to be credible and is being investigated as potentially a swatting case, that happened last Sunday and annoyingly my husband was flying out that evening. Luckily the airport was only closed for a few hours and the ripple effects minor enough insomuch that security was easy for him but his flight was delayed even more than it was before the bomb threat though luckily his connection was a long enough one that he was able to make it to his end destination.

It did however keep the parking garage closed for several hours after the airport reopened more than likely because one of the issues was a potential suspicious vehicle in the garage. That just would have added more time for people coming to the airport since you would have needed to use one of the other parking options available and construction around the airport right now on certain roads increase the hassle (like right around The Parking Spot is a nightmare).

Yes, that’s correct.

Well, but ado about nothing for us...security at PHL was a breeze, took less than 5 minutes for us, and less than 20 minutes for the others in our traveling party. We will see how we make out coming back into the country on Friday.
My husband hasn't had any issues personally himself and he's flown a good amount since the partial shutdown and to multiple airports (Boise, Vegas, Indy, Phoenix, a few in California).

For the most part in the news I'm seeing very specific airports that at least some of them have had issues in the past. Then the weather depending on the day has piled on to certain other airports. With spring break starting to be around there may be some more ripple effects but I still think it will be more specific airports, at least for the time being.

I renewed my precheck last month and my husband today (just able to today) and got a message about high volume of requests.

Everyone is going to apply for precheck now and so many people will have it, soon it will be useless anyways! 😁😉

It's in the eye of the beholder to me. My old airport and the new one the security line has never been a problem, the speediness in getting through was never really truly in favor of pre-check. But the other things that went with it were, now tech and adjusted rules (such as shoes can be kept on in the regular line) have adjusted that and will continue to adjust that but I find overall more smooth than what I see over in regular lines (except Atlanta last September was a bad pre-check experience).

We have Global Entry, my husband's company paid for his, our credit card paid for mine, I wasn't the one to decide to include pre-check in there with that but I am certainly going to continue to use it ;)

We've actually never had a wait with pre-check. Even at MCO, at most 5 minutes.

I'm just just joking really about if too many people have it, line will be as long as regular security. :D
