Anyway, some courthouses are very secure because there have been people trying to smuggle guns into court. There was a shooting in a Minneapolis court a few years ago.
Last time I was at a courthouse (for jury duty - lucky me got selected as an alternate and then got to be a real juror when a regular one was set free) was many years ago, but after 9/11 (I remember telling a certain person about it and know it had to be soon after 9/11, like maybe the next year). It was just like going through the airport (except easier, since I had no carry-on luggage, just a purse - and a lot less busier) except they checked my metal flashlight, which I'd never had TSA check. (Yeah, I used to carry a flashlight in my little purse....)
'Course, I also don't smuggle things in a giant metal barrette on my head....
