Trying new places & returning to favorites! *Update 3/13* Final Thoughts

Your review and pictures have made me add this to my list of restaurants for my next trip :). DH isn't really a seafood lover but I am and he'll have plenty of other foods to choose from. Thanks! I'm really enjoying your reviews.

Aw, thanks!

The buffet did have a lot more than what I even wrote about... so there's sure to be selections that will please both a seafood-lover and one who doesn't like seafood!

Kat, Angie, and I decided to have lunch at Pizza Planet during our day at HS. We used 2 counter service credits for a cheese pizza meal and a pepperoni pizza meal, and split it all between the three of us.

Each meal came with the pizza, a small Caesar salad, and a drink. Kat and I each had a salad (as Angie doesn't like salad)... Angie and I each had a Coke that came with the meals (Kat already had a bottle of water).

Lunch was yummy! Really not much else to say about salad and pizza, LOL! But the pizza portions were plenty to share (but I don't think we could've shared the salads... they were rather small!) Oh, and each meal came with a dessert. We chose the chocolate chip cookie for both… I don't recall what the other dessert choice was. The cookies were also plenty big to share between the three of us.

I concur - the pizza was delish! And even in the heat, sitting outside in the shade was pretty nice. Well. except for the rogue birds that our neighbor was feeding!;)

I'm excited to read your reviews, we have a lot of the same ADRs booked for our upcoming trip (in 10 days!) Can't wait to try Cape May in particular! Thanks for the reviews!:thumbsup2

I'd have to say that was the only negative thing about our lunch... dodging those pesky birds! :scared1:

If you read my PTR, you probably know how much I was looking forward to trying one (or all!) of the cupcakes Starring Rolls offers. Taking a break during our day at HS, Angie, Kat, and I decided to try the Red Velvet Cupcake:

Oh my cupcake, this was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of cream cheese frosting, but this was fabulous... the right blend of sweetness and tartness. The cake was moist and the toffee bits around the edge were yummy. I don't have anything negative to say about this delectable dessert!

I really enjoyed your review of Pizza Planet and Starring Rolls. I'm still debating which CS to eat at DHS. Starring Rolls and Pizza Planet are the runners up. I love Starring Rolls cupcakes! :goodvibes

That cupcake looks like it's going to have to go on my list of things to try!!! I'm not sure how all fit in all the food I want to sample!!

I am dreaming of trying the Red Velvet Cupcake, it is number one on my list of 'must try snacks' :cloud9:

Thanks! The only other CS place at HS I've eaten at was Catalina Eddies... and it was pizza, LOL!

It was really good... MUCH better than the other cupcake I had on my trip! You'll have to wait and find out which one that was...

After spending all day at HS and MK, I was ready to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal. We took the monorail over to the Polynesian for our dinner at 'Ohana. Kat had been here before, but Angie and I hadn't. Unfortunately, only one of us newbies enjoyed the meal.

And it was me! Poor Angie, she just didn't care for anything that was served.

Our ADR wasn't until 8:10, but it was just after 7 when we left MK. I'm not sure of the exact time we checked in, but it had to be a bit early since it didn't take any time at all to get to the Poly. We sat in the waiting area for 'Ohana for a good while… this was the longest wait we had for our ADRs, but I'm sure it was just because we were so early. I didn't note the time when we actually were seated, but our beeper went off and we were led to a table right beside the window! I had a great view of Cinderella's Castle… Kat and Angie, notsomuch, as there were a few trees blocking their view.

The CM who had seated us grabbed a loaf of the 'Ohana Welcome Bread on the way to our table, and our waitress was quick to come by with the salad and to get our drink orders. We just sat back and waited for the food to come to us!

I didn't care for the bread… but pineapple and coconut are two of my least favorite flavors. However, I instantly fell in love with the salad! The honey-lime dressing was delicious… I'm pretty sure I could've eaten the entire bowl myself, and would've been happy if that was all I had for dinner! It was that good.

Up next were the chicken wings and pot stickers. Soooooo good. Even now I am drooling!

Stir-fry veggies and egg noodles were brought next. Both were very good, as well. I really liked the noodles, they had some sort of peanut sauce on them.

And then the meat skewers started coming… beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp! I didn't have any of the shrimp, but the other meats were yummy yummy yummy!

(I don't have any pics of the meats… I'm sure by this time I was focused on eating the meal, rather than photographing it, LOL!)

By this time, Wishes was about to start! The lights were dimmed and the music from Wishes was piped in… it was great! Of course, watching the fireworks "in person" at MK is not to be missed, but it was pretty cool to watch (and listen to) Wishes while being seated inside the Poly and eating delicious food!

I'm pretty sure our waitress waited until Wishes was over before bring the dessert: bread pudding with vanilla ice cream topped with a banana caramel sauce. Again, I don't have a photo… it wasn't my favorite dessert, but it was good.

Overall, I loved loved loved this meal! I am definitely booking dinner here for my next family trip… I know my DH and girls would love it just as much. As a family, we typically eat early when it comes to dinner, but I wouldn't be opposed to having a late dinner here so we could watch the fireworks. Even if I can't convince my family to eat later than 6:00, we're definitely having dinner at 'Ohana on our next trip!

Saturday morning found us back at HS. We got there right at opening, and around 10:15 we were ready for a mid-morning snack!

We headed straight for RnR when we got to the park, and on the way to the ride I noticed Fairfax Fare (on Sunset Blvd) was serving cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We stopped there, but by the time we got to place our order they were all out of cinnamon rolls. So we decided to head up to Starring Rolls to get one there.

I don't have any photos of the cinnamon roll, but it was good. Nothing comparable to the Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls, from what I hear. The ones at Starring Rolls aren't quite as big (but this one was still plenty big for the three of us to share) and they are not served warm. The cinnamon roll we had from Starring Rolls served its purpose… we were just looking for a small snack to hold us over until lunch. I think they real "stars" of Starring Rolls are their cupcakes!

Wow, your meal at 'Ohana looks and sounds awesome:thumbsup2 It is one of the places that we couldn't get in to for our last trip, but were lucky enough to get an ADR for it this time around. Can't wait to try it. We have it booked for 7pm in hopes of catching Wishes from the Poly beach!!

Oh, your pictures made me hungry! I am excited to try "Ohana now after hearing you liked it and seeing your food pics. I have had doubts after reading reviews and have scheduled and cancelled and rescheduled my ADR's again. I guess if it turns out that I am like your friend and don't like it, I will at least have a fun experience with my Mom who loves dining out and loves all food. We have 750 ADR's and arriving early so I hope to catch a glimpse of Wishes.

Now THAT is a plate of noodles- haha! SO glad Ohana has noodles now- I haven't been since they didn't- but I always found it too much meat without enough carb in the past!
