I want to make a scrapbook of my last trip to Disney, but I have no idea where to start. I spent a couple hundred on supplies/paper/cricut. The problem is that I don't have the pictures I want in the scrapbook ready yet. I don't want pictures printed on regular paper, but I have so many I want that it'll probably cost me around $70 to get them all done. I don't know how I want the layouts because I feel like I need to see the pictures on the scrapbook paper to decide. I also would have to cut them up (or make them into designs) and I don't want to ruin them before I know how I want it. Any help at all how to get started would be greatly appreciated. I was so excited to work on this and now I'm just stuck.

I was the same way when I did my first one a couple of weeks ago. I already had my pictures printed, but my husband has a color copier at the office so I would make copies if I thought I needed to. For me I just decided to dive in and do it. I did have a hard time deciding how to put the pictures and how to arrange them stuff like that. When I was finished I had some pages that were better than others, but over all I thought it turned out pretty decent for a first time.

Remember just have fun with it and you will improve.

I absolutely have to have the pictures first- I won't even buy the papers until I have pics!

Here's what I ended up doing:
1. Weeded through all 800+ pics (yes, seriously) and Photoshopped the good ones the way I wanted them. I tackled one day at a time, and saved the keepers in separate folders by day.

2. Watched for Shutterfly deals and stockpiled credits- Borders Rewards sends out really good ones.

3. As credits would get close to expiring, I'd figure out what the most economical way to order would be, taking into account shipping. In the end, I got 459 photos printed, including some enlargements for around $35 total!

If you don't have the patience for all of that, an alternative is Walmart- they do .09 prints.

4. I went through the photos and planned out how I wanted the album to go (mostly chronological, by attraction/event). I noted how many photos I had for each layout.

5. Then I went shopping. :) I haven't bought enough for the whole album, but a good amount of it.

6. Now I'm knocking out one page at a time. I keep a notebook and the master plan with me when I'm running errands, and if I have time to kill, I write the journaling and titles for each layout.

So far I have 2 layouts completed- just 84 to go! :rotfl:

I don't know if that helps at all, but it's working for me. I'm normally the queen of buying tons of stuff and not ever finishing projects, so I'm trying to change my ways.

there is a walgreens code good through saturday "kickoff" and it's $5 for 50 prints. I just sent in about 350 prints for about $37 no shipping cause I pick it up and they will be ready tomorrow. I always wait for codes from them, our walmart's printing can be very iffy and I've had to refuse a few batches and come back to have them redone. that bugs me as I'm usually printing right before a crop. Our Walgreens has NEVER had issues with any of my scrappin friends or myself.
As difficult as it may be you may have to print them in batches as the pocket book allows. That's what I do.
HTH and you get to at least start on your album soon.

edited to add: there were 2 cd's in that price and so that would add into the total I think they are 2.99 each

Sign up for Walgreens/CVS codes....

I have to have my photos ready in order to scrap..
If I decide to do a shape or something; I use digital so I just re-print it if I mess up....but that is only on sale prices...

Tackle your album in small bites. Weed through your photos, a few attractions at a time, or a day at a time. Think about what photos you will likely scrap together on a page or series of layouts and pull those pics together and print at the same time. Finish those layouts before moving on to another grouping.

Crop/Resize on your computer, BEFORE printing. I printed all my pics in their original scale. Now that I'm learning new techniques and getting more creative with my layouts I find myself reordering prints of images are now cropped and edited with my camera's software. Save them as new images, in case you want the originals for another project in the future. (Is it just be who doesn't want to spoil the original?)

Take advantage of print sales and coupon codes at Snapfish, Winkflash, CVS etc. (i.e. 50 free prints when you order 50). Have fun!

sign up for shutterfly, and shapfish.. they will give you between 25-50 free prints. Then you have some pics to start with...

I always have problems started the first layout of a new album. To me it sets the tone of the whole album and I want it to be perfect. Not sure why, my life isn't perfect, why should my albums?:confused3:lmao::lmao:

I definitely need to have all my pictures, embellishments, and papers in front of me then I just tackle it chronologically.

Just take a deep breath and jump in. :goodvibes
