Tropical Storm/Hurricane Coming?

Although I understand that people pour lots of money and time planning into these trips, I would much rather a hurricane ruin my trip than ruin where I live. Ya'll are lucky when you don't live here- you can just leave and go to your house.

I hope these storms don't ruin any trips OR any homes. :wizard:

Yes your are right. But I exactly know what two Hurricane in a row are. I'm from Puerto Rico and as you know we're one of the first in receiving this kind of phenomenom. Sometimes we receive their early stages and sometimes they debilite because the step on us first. I'm just wishing that just go away without causing much trouble or ANY trouble at all.

:wizard: Praying for a good Weather!!! :goodvibes

Very well said, and I understand, my parents live in Florida, it wasnt good last year for them, they missed most of it.... :grouphug:

I am glad your parents missed most of last season! It is difficult to live in Florida and miss anything because of our wacky shape. I hope they fair well with this season as well! :wave2:

Wow. I guess you are right there where all the action happens. I hope everyone has an uneventful hurricane season this year (although it looks highly unlikely) :sad2:

Amen to that!

We really need a strong cold front to come through and cool those waters. The warm waters just fuel these storms.

I agree! Come on cool weather!!!!! :cold: Make it go away! :umbrella:

There was just a slight shift to the path to the east. They just issued watches to the Fl keys and south Fl. The high is now weaker than they though it was, so that's the reason for the slight shift. Guess it's just a wait and see.

Thanks for the update! :wave2: I guess its just a waiting game now

Unfortunately (or I guess some would say fortuantely), it may yet make other unpredicted shifts before all is said and done. It seems they follow these storms more than they actually predict where they will go. Which means that everyone must be on their guard, as what you hear now may be perfectly invalid 12 hours from now.

Exactly. In fact, they said there have been such drastic changes just in the last 18 hours. Basically they said they can't tell it's effect at all for Fl until it goes through Cuba. Then they'll have a much better picture. However, I'm still reluctant to believe their predictions completely. I remember Charlie and 1st it was no threat to us, then the eye was heading straight for us. It did major damage to our county. Just driving the other day, I couldn't believe how many blue tarp roofs are still out there. Just taking a guess, but I'd say about half the people with roof damage were able to get it repaired. The waiting lists are huge. Then we had the eyes of Frances and Jeanne go through our county.

I think once it hits the Gulf it can do anything!
tink what county are you in?

I'm going July 22-29...Praying for some sun :sunny: Isn't it true that in the summer it rains everyday for a little bit in FL???

Hope everyone is safe that lives there! :wave2:

Good luck to Everyone traveling down to WDW this weekend!!!

I think Florida People should start thinking in other materials to make their house. :guilty: I've seen footage of Charley and Ivan and it is huge the damages to the houses.
Here in Puerto Rico, we receive a lot of this phenomenom but the damges to the house are minor because they're made of cement or wood. People with wood houses secure them to ground like with boats:boat:...When there is loses is basically because the water got in, but the structure of the house still intact.

Anyway, I've found another link (better than the weather channel  and complements of the www.nhc.noaa.gov :teeth: ). http://www.sfwmd.gov/org/omd/ops/weather/track.html

This is a agency down in south Florida, and it's prediction are very acurate.
All my prayers to the people in Dennis' Path. Prepare well! :umbrella:

Most of the damage around me was roof damage from wind or from the huge Oak trees falling. Our house is wood frame/concrete block.

Um, we too build our houses out of cement and wood. What the heck else is there. And I am sorry but if you were directly hit by a cat 4 or 5 hurricane those wood houses would be gone no matter how well they were secured to the ground. When you see Florida’s damage on TV all they show is the worst of the worst (the direct hit of the eye), trust me when I tell you it is not all like that.

Nope, Sarasota - but my whole family is still in Lakeland and actually we were supposed to go over there tonight, my DH has a ball game there tomorrow.
