Tropical Depression may be forming next week

Found this a few years ago, not sure if the phases have changed.

Five Phases of Disney Hurricane Preparedness:

Phase 5 (Monitoring Storm Possible)
Review current plan, checklists and business recovery plans. Review personnel and resource availability for the ride-out crew. Verify contact numbers and emergency data. Prepare WDW Emergency Operations Center for activation.

Phase 4 (Storm likely within 24–36 hrs)
General readiness imposed. Brief personnel. Review checklists. Consider possible shut down of long lead operations and not starting extended operations. Limited activation and staffing of WDW Emergency Operations Center.

Phase 3 (Storm probable within 12–24 hrs)
Intensify clean up and tie down. Prepare for phase 2 activity. Selected ride-out crew personnel given the opportunity to secure their personal property. Turn in excess radios and vehicles. Test start all generators. Note: Generally this is when the WDW Emergency Operations Center, command centers, and command posts will be fully activated. This is an executive decision and is subject to change.

Phase 2 (Storm impending -within 6 to 12 hours)
All WDW Resort operations (i.e. Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Typhoon Lagoon) begin to close. Scheduled hotel and campground guests notified of conditions. Guest campground trailers removed or secured by the guests. Complete all clean up and tie down activities short of shutdown. Authorized ride-out families move to pre-designated shelters. Ride-out crew fully staffed at start of phase 1 or as directed by the WDW Emergency Operations Center. Personnel not in ride-out crew released as soon as possible.

Phase 1 (Storm Imminent -take shelter)
Shutdown all activities and immediately take shelter. Fulfill ride-out requirement plans.

Post Storm Phase (“All Clear”must be given from the EOC)
Command Centers submit situation reports to WDW Emergency Operations Center. Establish business resumption / recovery schedule. Notify employees through media and Cast Member emergency lines of call back as directed by WDW Emergency Operations Center.

We have been here since Thursday with no rain.

2 things I guarantee my kids before we arrived was it will be hot and we will get rained on.

I'm not worried about touring a theme park when I know there is potential for loss of life if people don't pay attention to what's coming.
If there was potential for loss of life a theme park would not be open.

Thanks for posting. That was an interesting read! I knew they must have some kind of procedure, didn't fully know what it entailed.

Love this site for tracking storms and information: http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/
Fortunately Florida and Disney are made to handle lots of rain in a very short period, once it's over life returns to normal pretty quickly.

Recommendations: Take extra socks, make sure your flip-flops are not slippery on wet surfaces. Make sure to take a picture of your family all together in your ponchos.

Keeping fingers crossed for all of you arriving and touring that the storm moves through quickly.

Right now they're not saying hurricanes here (WDW area). Rain starting in an hour on and off tonight (Sunday) then steady tomorrow afternoon through Tuesday am, then thunderstorms scattered through the week. Since they can't predict the path yet it's hard to say what's going to happen here in the middle but right now we've been told to just keep an eye on the weather.

For parks, keep a spare pair of shoes if yours don't dry out and make careful way through the parks as things get slippery. Allow a LOT of extra time once the rain begins- traffic gets nuts so busses get delayed and parking lots get jammed. Also be aware that if there's standing rain/water the trams may not run to the parking lot- we got caught at AK right before Easter in a sudden storm that just poured, and the tram wasn't running for a good while afterwards.
Have alternatives to outdoor rides and keep an eye on your fast passes- if a ride closes the app is pretty good about keeping up and will switch your FP for an anytime pass for an equivalent ride, and you should get an email at some point to the account attached to your MDE.
And roll with the flow- some of our family's best times at WDW have been in the rain and storms.

I meant loss of life for those not in a theme park
Sorry. Misunderstood.

Hopefully everyone will evacuate where needed and stay inside if not.

It's always incredibly sad to me when I hear of the few fatalities caused by a falling tree or the surfer who won't come in. Stay inside, out of the ocean, and out of flood zones!

I say all of this and have rarely evacuated, so didn't always take my own advice.

I assumed the poster was writing about the coastal flooding that's predicted along the gulf. Haven't seen too much about inland flooding.
I'm on the east coast where it's supposed to exit & we are already posted for a flood watch from 4am Monday until 12am Tuesday. City already has posted info for residents to obtain sand bags!

My DD goes to school in St Pete and is interning at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa for the summer. She has been told not to report to work tomorrow - of course the Tampa Bay Area is expecting to get a ton of rain and is under a Tropical Storm Warning. I live in the panhandle and it looks like it has shifted more our way but the worst of the weather will be on the right hand side.

Here is swfl we're expecting a lot of rain Monday and Tuesday. Currently in flood warning

DH was suppose to be flying to Tampa on Tuesday for a fishing trip-the guy who runs the charter has called and advised against coming down. The trip is a Christmas gift from his son, they are now looking for other options for later in the month.

20 minutes from WDW, we've had light rain since about 4pm but I think that should let up soon. It's supposed to be cloudy overnight with rain starting about 10am tomorrow and lasting all day.

The weather is changing hourly for Orlando and various weather information sites are wildly different. I am really starting to worry now but so far there.

Jetblue has allowed cancellation and rebooking without penalty for MCO. I am currently speaking with Disney and checking my insurance policies. Hopefully it all works out and issues like this are the reason I didn't plan on doing anything the first day other then Disney Springs.

I just switched my Magic Kingdom and Epcot days around. I've given up a Crystal Palace PPO ADR, Test Track and 7DMT to ensure that I have a nice day at Magic Kingdom. Hopefully I didn't make a boneheaded decision. I always weigh this against a long weekend trip in the fall for Food and Wine. So will be seeing plenty of Epcot.

Tropical Storm Warning for Orlando until 1:45pm today. Although the radar seems to have no rain UNTIL 2pm. moderate threat for tornadoes.

Yeah--this puzzles me. We are here now and I just saw what you saw.

I'm not too worried--but this is an important mismatch of information.

No rain outside our resort window. Nor any noted wind. Trees are still.

We are here also. Not seeing anything. We have been lucky with rain since Friday. It did rain a bit when we were at Epcot yesterday but we were at dinner so all was good.

Looks like radar presently hasn't it running along side west of Orlando--but there is a huge patch still to come and I guess they is what the afternoon forecast is for.

Trying to figure out our morning plan and of we have time to explore before spending an afternoon in. But the warning supposedly ends before that starts so not sure.
