Tron roller coaster @MK?

Disney would use Vekoma to build the track, but I wish they would forge a relationship with B&M... they build the smoothies track and train combo out there. That said, Vekoma lets Disney bully them around and it seems to work, so why break the chain when the its good and tight.

True...but B&M specializes in the square track, wide beam inverted, standup, floorless, hypertwister and flying designs the are known for.

They are the best coaster rides...no doubt. Disney has never returned a call from them...

I can only assume two things:
1. The space required and lack of high tech launch integration necessary for short spaces.
2. B&Ms are for the big kids...as in not for an audience from 5-75 that it's realistically impossible to satisfy.

So I think they don't get where the front door is ??? Like why would you hide the best parts of it? Or that they literally just built the Joffrey's Coffee Spot, let alone the odds of the People Mover fitting.

it should be noted that WDI used Dynamic Structures to overhaul both space mountain and most recently Big Thunder Railroad in Disneyland.

I'm a little worried that this could be the end of the peoplemover. That would be disheartening and the end of an era.

Agree that would be a huge loss. But the layouts that make sense, should not impact it. Of course, making sense isn't always the route taken.

Tron absolutely belongs more in MK or mgm than Epcot...it's fiction!

Actually better than guardians...which has zero place in Epcot as well.

When they put me in charge...I'll make a master plan that won't be deviated from...a covenant...

iP the hell out of magic kingdom and studios...and only use ip in DAK and Epcot when it fits the edutainment (sparingly)...not vice versa.

It's simple...and good for 75 mil visitors a year. Finish the build for DAK (not there still) and stop being so freaking cheap at Epcot and reopen/replace what's closed or screwed...

And I didn't run a crappy tv network or produce Saturday night fever...but I figured it out.
Shhhhh... No Guardians in DHS. I'd hate to see the fanboys chain themselves to the Tower of Terror or at least threaten to. Besides being fiction doesn't seem to matter much now. The biggest problem is that this IP doesn't really seem to fit well anywhere.

A B&M team-up with Disney would be spectacular. B&M is by far the best coaster manufacturer out there right now. For those that say they only make big intense coasters for big kids, that's because that's what their clients primarily want. However, they also have built many coasters which feature much more negative Gs than positive Gs. So you get more of the floating feeling than the jam you in your seat experience. Plus they have a "family" coaster system which has a 45 inch minimum height limit. That's well within Disney's range. I'd absolutely love to see what B&M would come up with for a completely custom train with a ride intensity geared more towards the 7 year old demo Disney likes to build their coasters for. The smoothness of B&M at the intensity Disney likes for their coasters would make all of the older crowd very happy who complain now about roughness of EE and RnR (thanks Vekoma!).

Heck, I'd even love to see WDW build an Intamin coaster. Intamin has perfected coasters with multiple launches that stay close to the ground. That would be great to tie-in with show scenes. Have a fast bit after a launch... slow down to take in some story.... have another launch for another fast bit.... slow down for another story scene. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. California Screamin' is the best coaster at a domestic Disney park. Who built that again?

Instead Disney seems fixated on Vekoma for WDW coasters even though no other serious player uses them any longer for major projects. Vekoma these days mainly makes cloned shuttle-loop designs and kiddie coasters (eg Barnstormer).

By all accounts this wouldn't have an affect on the people mover.

Agreed.

DL is still feeling the sting of Eisner ruining their PM track with the Rocket Rods (@ucfknight best me to this). Wouldn't be surprised if any future redesign of DL's Tomorrowland included some sort of mover. Probably simpler and more modern (and certainly safer) than their old system.

I rode the Rocket Rods, some people loved them but they were unimpressive because Eisner wanted sponser money that never came to bank the turns (which may not have ben structurely possible anyway), so the Rods would barely get up to speed before they had to beake again for a slow turn. But they were done 75% of the day and, if course, actually broke the sturcitre that held the track.

Don't get me wrong...I love b&m and would welcome any Disney partnership...it would be mutually beneficial and I think they could do wonders with the impressive theming disney insists upon...

Specifically my RCT fantasy of the Uluru inverted coaster in the planned (in my head) austrailia section of DAK...

...montu, alpengeist, and raptor are still among my favorite all time rides...hulk and kraken get honorable mention too

Have you been to Disneyland? People routinely pick that space mountain over the WDW version and a huge reason they do that is because of the track and how rough it is. That says something and shows how badly the track needs work.

They are completely different rides. I much prefer the WDW version to the one in DL. Yes, it's smoother out west, but it's also boring. If it hadn't been themed to Star Wars at the time, it probably would have been a one and done for me. The fact that it's in the dark and you are getting thrown around so much is what makes it fun to me. You're only going 25 mph. I would say being thrown around is a requirement to make it fun at that speed. Smooth coasters are great when they are 200 feet tall with lots of high bank turns and air time over the hills. And for all the complaints people give about Space, Big Thunder IMO throws you around MUCH more. And that's also what makes it fun. I'm not saying the SM track couldn't use some work, but I absolutely do not want to see it completely changed out for a different ride.

Of my 3 space mountain experiences...Paris is by far the best...I would say that the two American versions have different pros and cons that make them a wash

What's your opinion of Everest...for curiosities sake?

I don't want to see it become a different ride either but the track does need some work. I still ride Space all the time but I can see why people have problems with it.

I just wish they'd take out the T bar and come up with a more flexible lap system...being tall...the T does near permenant thigh damage

Maybe WDI will take another swing at perfecting the Rocket Rods.

<completely joking>

What could go wrong?

I hear this time they're gonna put a yeti in the middle to enhance the experience...

Learn something new every day.
Never heard of them.
Looks like a hungover Test Track.
