Tron roller coaster @MK?

I get you...but the Anaheim version has also undergone better/more complete system replacements for the last 2 decades...in Orlando it's a macgyver special.

Oh, well, that's true, but they haven't significantly changed the ride system in general. It was always more advanced than the MK Space Mountain. I thought you meant they had overhauled it into the ride it is today from something more like the original MK one.

space mountain had a major refurb in 2009 not 2012, i was wrong in the dates, but still it doesn't need another major refurb yet...

WDW's SM never got its "major" refurb. DL's major refurb lasted closed the ride for two years, Paris's for around a year; WDW's management was reluctant to do the same. Instead, they cancelled much of the work and just replaced the trains and added some braking.

For much of the same reason, MK never got the new track and effects to DL's BTMRR received; WDW jsut did not want to commit the time and money to do it. And honestly, thry would be "damned if they do" as well, can you imagine the vetriol (sp?) here if SM closed to two whole years? Heck, public demand of Disney staples is why MK has a 1/2-length POTC instead of Western Ricer Expedition.

The whole of thing of what theme fits where has kinda become a moot point to me now. I'm from the generation of Disney fans that used to go to WDW as a child and visit 1 park. That was a time where it seemed that every year they were adding something. New hotels...New parks...New pavilions, etc. Then we went through years of nothing. Now we are finally get new lands, new attractions, rebuild rides, etc...I'm just glad they are finally reinvesting. Does Tron make more sense in Epcot Future World? Obviously...Not only is the theme more appropriate, but the space at UOE would give a nice plaza area in front of the ride building as pictures show it in Shanghai. In addition, if they really have to put GoG in the parks they could put that in MK at the speedway. It is right on the border of Fantasy land and Tomorrowland, so it kinda becomes a fantasy tomorrowland segue.
This would make sense...which is why I believe we will get tron in tomorrow land, and GoG in futureworld.
At the end of the day...more/new "quality" attractions = win

I'm all for this if it's true... once this opens, Space goes down for a complete rebuild. The park needs this ride in order for space to go down a long time. Space could easily be down a year for a complete rebuild the way WDW moves.

Try two years, that's how long the Disneyland one took, and that was a smaller building and one track

Right...didn't mean to say "new ride"...replaced in refurb as WDW's should have been long ago...

They were supposed to (alledgedly) do that in 2012...full track replacement...but shortened it down to sections were literally they could no longer weld/screw bolts into place anymore or the iron had naturally decayed in half life from the steel like in Jurassic park.

They couldn't take it off line during the "new" fantasyland crush (which also coincided with the start of the housing bubble rebound that wrecked large swaths of the wdw clientele areas)...and why?

Because they hadn't touched a single thing in the magic kingdom since the pathetic Aladdin spinner in 2001 and we're trying to put 5,000,000 more people in there annually.

That's why space mountain is in really bad shape...you can't keep stitching blankie when all the fabric is gone.

I'm saying 4:1 odds against this rumor having any credibility...still

That's actually pretty optimistic for me.

Tron absolutely belongs more in MK or mgm than Epcot...it's fiction!

Actually better than guardians...which has zero place in Epcot as well.

When they put me in charge...I'll make a master plan that won't be deviated from...a covenant...

iP the hell out of magic kingdom and studios...and only use ip in DAK and Epcot when it fits the edutainment (sparingly)...not vice versa.

It's simple...and good for 75 mil visitors a year. Finish the build for DAK (not there still) and stop being so freaking cheap at Epcot and reopen/replace what's closed or screwed...

And I didn't run a crappy tv network or produce Saturday night fever...but I figured it out.

It's been rough since day one...because it predates jimmy carter...

That doesn't play as well now...and that could be addressed if they redesign the whole ride.

Space mountain has never been fully worked on because the most they could ever close it from an operation standpoint is about 4 months...I think flipping the lights on and redesigning the whole track - perhaps going to one circuit...is the only way to ensure it's longterm future.

Anyone who's been in there during the light of day knows what I'm talking about...

It was closed for about 7 months in 2009 and the refurb cost about 12 million dollars... so I don't know where your getting your info from.

No we aren't going with factual history ... this is the Rumors forum ... we are going with the fantasyland story that the children so loved his music that they were willing to follow him anywhere.

I got it! TONY'S, you know the whole Lady & Tramp thing - what could go wrong?

But that makes WDWNT right .......... and do we really want that?

YES, have said for years. Had hopes when Astro was getting some good color. PLEASE if they can't pull off a real Tomorrowland, which they haven't ... go steampunk!!

And the dozing of SM is being discussed on Reddit (I hear from DS, I stay away from that nuthouse).

why don't you like wdwnt? Tom hates a lot of other new sites but Pete and the gang he respects.

12 million is nothing. The simple Frozen redo of Maelstrom cost $150 million. In those 7 months 8 YEARS ago not enough was done. 8 years is long time in terms of rides and needing refurbs.
you don't think that 150 million had a lot to do with the animatronics and that technology?

What? Of course it did but what does this have to do with Space Mountain? Also can you provide a link to that 12 million number? I have evidence of the refurb but not 12 million. 12 million doesn't get you a lot in terms of theme park attractions. Space mountain plain and simple needs a full track redo which was originally planned in the 2009 refurb but was cancelled.

it was closed for 7 months though...they were able to flip tower of terror into mission breakout in less time so they had to something

My point was space mountain is as bone dry in terms of physical theming of the actual ride, if you turn the lights on its just a track, don't get me wrong they succeed in the space theming but its gonna cost a lot less to work on space mountain because of the lack of animatronics than say splash mountain or even big thunder. 12 million was a figure in the orlando sentinnel at the time of the reopening in 2009. 12 million goes a lot farther on a ride like space mountain than a ride like frozen

Tom "breaks" a lot of news that either isn't news or has already been out. He is a little too cocky IMO.
hahahah yea thats his character and I do see a lot on his site first, granted wdwnt said disney would announce their plans for energy at D Destination in november but if they announce it at d23 is he completely wrong?? timing yes but if it truly is a guardians ride he did say that first.
