Tron roller coaster @MK?

Of my 3 space mountain experiences...Paris is by far the best...I would say that the two American versions have different pros and cons that make them a wash

What's your opinion of Everest...for curiosities sake?

So I'm a coaster junkie. When I was a teen I thought I was too good for Disney because they don't do "real" thrills. I much preferred trips to different Six Flags and Cedar Point Kings Island ect. It took me a long time to appreciate coasters like Space and BTMR for what they are. There are so many "real" roller coasters that are MUCH rougher and more painful to the point I refuse to ride them.

I love Everest. But it's not even the same category for me. It and RnR are the only "real" coasters in the parks and I think RnR is a pretty boring one that wouldn't be close to a headliner at most coaster parks. (I also love California Screamin' but I'll stick to the east coast.) The backwards helix of Everest puts this feeling in the pit of my stomach I have never experienced on any other ride, and I can't help but laugh the entire time no matter how many times I ride it. Space Mountain is just a fun ride to me. I don't like it for the same reasons I like roller coasters.

I would vote for a gut of Space Mountain with a completely new single track layout. Nothing about it now really feels like a space launch. I mentioned Intamin above and that's who I'd like to see them use for such a project. Intamin is very good at launched coasters including having mid course booster launches. They could use one of their smaller trains like on Maverick at Cedar Point: 6 rows with 2 people per row. So dispatching 12 people per train, the same as they have now at Space Mountain with 2 tracks of 6 person trains. A LSM launch up a hill would feel much more like a trip into space. Maybe have another mid-course launch into "hyerspace" or something. The ride itself doesn't have to be that different than what is there now. It could still be a slow speed ride through darkness with unseen drops and sudden turns. It would just be way smoother and a better overall experience than what it is now.

You are correct about RnR. It is a early-1980s quality coaster with a fun launch added on. Even the 4-seats-at-the-bottom-of-a-fiberglass-bucket style cars come straight from the 80's. Other than the launch it is a really sad excuse for a modern coaster.

EE is definitely the best (and only real) coaster at WDW. It certainly isn't intense by any means, but at least it is fun.

California Screamin' is my favorite Disney coaster that I've been on.

even if they kept the two tracks I do think it would be neat to make the hill more of a launch. Even just doing that and then redoing the track so it is smother (and I would like added music) would be cool

I loved California Screamin' - I was surprised how much I enjoyed it ... I think that might be the one ride at Disneyland that furthest surpassed my expectations prior to riding

Everest is just a dull medium steel coaster to me...which is why I always scream for the yeti

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I have NEVER felt the way on any other coaster than I do on Everest.

Test Track is the premiere thrill attraction in EPCOT right now. That doesn't say much, but it is the fact on the ground. It's not going anywhere anytime soon as it represents one of the few remaining sponsorships and was recently redone.

Well sure. The original Test Track theme lasted a little over a decade. Part of GM's agreement to continue sponsoring it was to re-skin the ride. The new version was opened in 2012. By the time a Tron coaster would be built you're talking 2020. That would be about the time GM would be renegotiating with Disney to sponsor Test Track for another decade or not. If they were to renew their sponsorship deal at that time I would imagine it would include a another re-skin of the ride to keep it current. The next iteration could certainly be made less Tron-like.

Which is exactly why I think Tron would work so beautifully where UOE is visually. The flow of the esthetic from Tron to MS to TT would make for a really strong FW on that side at least...

At the rate WDW is conceding advertising space on every WoM/TT reskin, the next iteration will be you walk in to the pavilion, an automated Chevy Malibu shows up in front of you, it drives you for a 30 second road journey passing the history of Chevy billboards, and then deposits you into a small office with an audioanimatronic salesperson who checks your credit and then lists the features of the car, the price, and the financing rate they will provide you for the vehicle you just arrived in.

Any negotiating to leave the small office, or a different price for the vehicle which costs just slightly more than your daily WDW ticket, causes the animatronic to go still while it "checks" with the sales manager for 20 minutes, leaving you stuck looking at a lifeless, creepy, animatronic and still locked in the office. Eventually you can negotiate your release, which requires purchasing at least 2 upsell WDW activities or one DVC membership, and at least a promise to buy an extended warranty on your next Chevy vehicle purchase. Next you walk out through a full dealership where you are continually accosted by animatronic salespeople asking if you've been helped and trying to show you the newest small CUV.

Finally you end up in a completely Chevy branded gift shop where all the beloved classic Disney characters are propping up the Bowtie.

OK. The merging of the two threads has, as usual, made things more confusing, as I no longer can find the post I wanted to respond to. Anyway, here are a couple of thoughts I have.

1) Say what you will about the Speedway, but I see more genuine smiles from 4-7 year old kids that have just driven the Speedway than I see on any other attraction at WDW. There is not a child in that age group that does not like to drive a car. 'Classic' rides like Peter Pan and Pirates of the Caribbean don't hold a candle to the Speedway when it comes to making kids happy.

2) I thought I remembered, and the overhead shots confirm it, but the PeopleMover travels through a portion of the Speedway's air space. Putting something in the Speedway space that may necessitate the shut down of the PeopleMover, even if it is just temporary, would NOT be cool in my book. Not cool at all.
