Tron roller coaster @MK?

so are they trying to compete with Universal and go after the older kids? Magic Kingdom in my mind was always for the little ones but if you take a ride they can ride away for a coaster that puts it less as a little kids park. I would put it in EPCOT

I do think the Speedway needs to go or be updated.
I do think something TRON will go there - reported at a few insiders that there were three different options.

I don't think we get the light cycle coaster - as stated in another thread - too close to SM, and the fact that they are having two new big rides and both coasters?!?!?!?(GotG in UoE, and this in Speedway). I just don't buy it.

I think they will do something tron there to help push the new update of TL coming, but I don't think it will be Light Cycle coaster.

That thing is huge! and intimidating It will definitely change the look of MK if they put it there.

SM is 180 ft high with 60 ft coaster. This is a 78 ft coaster so we can say assume taller. Now imagine SM sitting right next to Dumbo but not a cone shape, more expanded.

SM, Splash, BT .... all set apart on outside of park not next to any small attractions but buffered, so they don't overwhelm ... This literally will be spitting distance to Dumbo and Tea Cups and at some views may look equal with Castle.

They wouldn't be stupid enough to put two rollercoasters right next to each other. Or would they?

I would hope not but ...........

AND why does MK need another coaster, there are two big, one small. This will be VERY popular, bring crowds .......... so wouldn't common sense put it not only where it fits physically, better thematically AND a park that needs a thrill ride (is driving fast really a thrill I can do that on my own), needs a boost, is desperate and sad ......... and had huge capacity.

It won't matter where they put it, it will draw that group. So why put it in a park that everyone loves anyway. My kids are older, they still love MK for the "Disney" factor. The park we had the years of "boredom" was Epcot. If folks are buying a ticket to Epcot, they'll likely do a minimum 3 day now with Pandora. SWL is done, they've sold the 4 day tickets to folks who will then spend the second half of their week at Universal (which you can do in 2 days). Disney's best bet is to spread the popular among all four parks to force the bigger tickets.

I'd just like to see electric vehicles with a more future style, and future scenery as well. Other than that, Speedway is fine. Kids love it!

I'd put maybe a TRON VR experience in where Stitch is before going this route.

The Autopia at Hong Kong Disneyland is pretty fun - a bit more retro-futuristic feel to the track and they cars are electric and make fun like futurisic "vrrmmmming" sounds when you accelerate. Even something like that I think would be good

The foot traffic alone in that space if they put the Tron ride there would be brutal. Not to mention the size of the attraction which has been well covered. I'm hoping it comes to the US - to FW in Epcot which can eat people and so desperately needs a re-do.

Yeah, this needs to replace Ellen's Energy Adventure in Epcot, where there is space for it. Some have said it's too similar to Test Track in theming/light style but I think that actually is a stronger argument for it going there, because then Future World might have more of a cohesive look. I watched some of the ride video of EEA thinking it might be a good way to pass the time with my young kids while DH does standby and rides TT, but man, does it look dated.

I think a Cars/Wreck it Ralph overlay to the speedway, replacing the smelly cars with electric, would be awesome.

Ah...i was hoping they'd overlay the speedway with Sugar Rush for Fantasyland but an upgrade is an upgrade.

Please Please Please be true for the cycle coaster.

I don't see an issue with Space mountain being nearby... unless SM is going to get the boot too?

I love "articles" that blare headlines of "confirmation" but then have no actual confirmed information or real sourcing beyond "people."

Nothing even close to credible on this...that's why sites like that should be ignored.

A word of caution: geekcon is this weekend...so peeps are stoked. That's cool. But all these sites know nothing and invent stuff to feel important. There's blood in the water. My advice is ignore it till Saturday...and then we'll see...

Okay ............ to further :stir:

Tron Cycle in MK likely means TIERED FP+.

I can totally see Tron, 7DMT and maybe another in Tier 1 with rest in Tier 2

OR

And honestly, this could equate to 3 tiers.

1) Tron, SM, BTM and 7DMT
OR two from 3 to allow for small children not tall enough for above
2) SpM, Pirates, HM, Buzz ....
3) The rest

Really hope this is true. Stinky Speedway needs to go. Hated smelling the fumes while waiting for Mad Tea Party last trip.

It is horribly outdated...

And as evidenced by the box office for Cars 3...the love affair with four wheels is long over.

I personally don't care about that ride and the fumes are so terrible! My kids, however, love it so much. They are seven and it's one of their must dos at least twice every trip. I guess we will have to take advantage while it's still there.

Space could sure use a refurb tho...

Actually a complete redesign/replacement to make it "overlay" friendly...and that opportunity could be there if the tron thing were in play. As it stands...they can't shut it down for a year...no way.

Now that I'm thinking of it visually, Tron to Mission to Test Track would actually look pretty bada**. I'd much prefer this to the GOTG, although I'm not anti-that idea. The Tron offering would just make for that side of the park looking pretty spiffy from a esthetic POV. If they dropped that in UOE, and actually did something with Innoventions, we'd have something pretty lovely, especially if they do anything that keeps and fixes Imagination.

RIGHT!?! DS did some mockup photoshop thing a few weeks ago and showed me ... the whole plaza area would be so cool. It fits with space ships and fast cars. They just need to revamp the Life Pavilion to blend in, they could still use for special events if they weren't going to add anything.
