Tron roller coaster @MK?

I did this super quick, just taking from Google Earth and not sure if I got all of the show building correct, but something like this I suppose (though it might need to be pushed back more to work well with the train line and maybe more of the showbuilding is back in that grassy area behind Space Mountain

Would the entire show building fit in the grassy area on the other side of the tracks? If so, they can have the Tron queue where the speedway is now (and make the building fit with Tomorrowland without interfering with Fantasyland).

The queue could then go through a tunnel under the tracks to get to the show building.

What I don't know is if the show building behind the tracks allows them to hide the show building from the rest of the park, and from the passengers on the train.

But it is not confirmed.

This ride does however fit size wise, theme wise and into the footprint at Ellen's Energy. I know there is the rumor of Guardians there ... but their presence makes more sense in DHS with long term planning.

I would love to see this in Future World! A much better fit!

Holy crud, folks. Do you really need to concoct reasons to be upset about an exciting new attraction? If Disney does announce this, then don't you think they'll figure out a way to avoid visual intrusion with other parts of the park? It's kinda what they do better than any other theme park. We think this would be a better fiti in Future World? Don't we hate film IP in Epcot? We're worried about tiered FPP in MK? Also, are we supposed to be upset that Disney is recycling attractions from other parks (that most of us will never visit) or that Disney isn't bringing headliner attractions from other parks (that most of us will never visit) to Florida? I sometimes forget which side of that argument we're supposed to be on.

This would be an outstanding addition to the Magic Kingdom that could signal a long overdue overhaul of Tomorrowland. Add this to the rumored Wreck-it Ralph attraction and you'll still have some sort of driving experience and another video game attraction. I have confidence that the folks at Imagineering will tie the stories together with the rest of Tomorrowland. Then, I guess we can move on to complaining about the ride vehicles and how not everyone can ride.

Sorry to throw cold water on this, but Disney World may go very conservative with the current drop in International attendance drop. I don't expect this to get announced at all. Last weekend I was listening to NPR and hear that depending on Country there has been up to a 60% drop in international tourism to WDW.

It doesn't work well for most of the rest of the World besides China. Tron: Leagcy did okay worldwide ($400 million), but very mediocre in Britain ($16 million). Light Cycle won't draw people away from other attractions past the first six months it's open. This doesn't happen. What I think happens is we get a Disneyland style redo of the Speedway by 2021 with Electric Vehicles sponsored by GM.

But it is not confirmed.
Disney has not confirmed it.
There is NO website out there that Disney gives info to.

While won't say never, and while it makes sense economically for Disney to replicate rides, and while Disney does make some bad decisions .... Tron does not fit with the Magic Kingdom - especially size wise. This ride will dwarf half the park, will dwarf Space Mountain and could likely be very distracting to the Castle. Big enough it will practically put a shadow over Storybook Land. I would be really sad to see this in MK.

While I love the thought of the ride and it would fit a Tomorrowland theme..............I fear the analysis above is quite on point. Unless................o_O you find a way to making it smaller :-).............but that might ruin it:oops:..............Oh jeez......it's still a rumor. I'll wait to see.

My major concern is how many people can ride this. Not sure if this concern is valid, but I remember reading people were limited to riding Pandora Flight of Passage because of then "bike" style coaster. I wonder if this issue will also apply to this Tron Coaster? No one in my family would have this issue, but just curious about others.

Have you seen Test Track lately? The amount of advertising a GM company required to continue that sponsorship is... ludicrous. WDW is not dumb enough to allow that kind of sponsorship in MK.

Flight of Passage has mostly been sorted out. You don't read very many problems anymore and the vast majority of problems occurred during the "soft opening", specifically when problems are meant to be found and dealt with. Barring more concrete evidence that there is a problem with FoP, I think we can let this thinking mostly go.

Very good point. There is advertising in Magic Kingdom such as the Edy's sponsoring Plaza Ice cream, but they wouldn't allow it.

I think Tron would be an amazing addition to the Magic Kingdom and seriously hope this is true.

RIGHT!?! DS did some mockup photoshop thing a few weeks ago and showed me ... the whole plaza area would be so cool. It fits with space ships and fast cars. They just need to revamp the Life Pavilion to blend in, they could still use for special events if they weren't going to add anything.
The thing is and I think this was addressed is tjat gm which owns chevy, it could even be chevy sponsors tron already, no way do they sponsor two rides right next to each other let alone the same park

The "box" building will fit in the grassy area with the "domed" building on this side of the tracks. The dome is open air and could potentially handle the train tracks going through it. Not sure they'd want that visually but they have to work with the train. Placing it there also allows for the existing Tron plaza to be built as well.

The area can't be compared as square footage as some I've seen out there. It will not fit within the train tracks without great modification. "Reports" are when they built the first one they built 2 and one is in storage. This means it can not be flipped as the track would be set. It's shape can't go from rectangle to square.

Saw on twitter, much of what I'm trying to say ...
All that curly stuff that goes under People Mover is the Tron Plaza.

:welcome: to DISboards.

No one is concocting anything. This building will be a huge intrusion at the segway to Fantasyland and change the feel of the park. The only way it could work is to drop it far back into the area outside the train tracks so the larger building is far back. That brings on the other issue that Walt said they couldn't do that?? But then again there is alcohol in MK and likely to be more with the new DDP.

But dropping it way back into the natural area could then fit in the Tron courtyard, entry way and still leave space for the smaller spin ride as it blends into Fantasyland. This also leaves the rest of Tomorrowland in place ....... so in need of serious upgrades as well. Uh, Wreck-it Ralph is way bigger rumor than most anything. Disney has the ability to do blending better ....... but this isn't the old Disney anymore.

Some hate IP in Epcot, many do not and many acknowledge it's probably Epcot's future. And really Tron is hardly adding "Disney" to Epcot. But on the flip Tron added to MK brings no magical value. I would rather have IP attractions added on the pads than more countries. Don't need more dining and shopping ... need more attractions.

Worried about FP+ tiers, I think you read too much into responses. I personally could care less and surprised we don't already have them. Bring something like this in, it opens the door. And so not sure why you think folks are upset about replicating this ....... I must have missed something. I personally will never go to China so I'm good on a good ride coming here although it would have been so much better to get one of their other rides or better yet, some of Tokyo Seas'.

You can see the pirates show building from the train...

I would definitely be sorry to see the Tomorrowland Speedway from going away. I understand why they would want to but I rode this as a child and now our children are riding it. It always brings back great memories when I ride it.

I totally agree with the many who are saying it would not fit in well in MK, but would be great in Future World in Epcot!

Having another major E ticket ride wiuld eleviate the pressure of some of my favorite rides, I welcome this change and if they make tiered fastpasses, it wont change much, barring they dont subtract attractions, i think you can see some of your favorite rides have shorter wait times, excluding peter pan of course that thing is always busy

Gm sponsors the tron ride, and they also sponsor test track, doubt they would want to sponsor both rides so close to eachother

Disney's day of sponsorship is out the door. Epcot's sponsors can be counted on one hand, maybe one finger now? No sponsor is needed for Tron in Epcot or Magic Kingdom. Sponsorship is not a factor in their decisions.

Chevy is the sponsor for TT.

Sponsorships will always be appreciated when it lowers the bottom line
