Tron roller coaster @MK?

I don't even want to see Speedway go away, just upgraded. I agree that TRON being right next to Space Mountain will overpower Tomorrowland, and it doesn't really fit there. There are other aspects of Tomorrowland that need upgrading first, like replacing Stitch.

And the cement trucks only prove they are filling up the holes they dug.
That's why I only trust vertical construction behind a wall which has concept art painted on it.

Haha, that was actually my second type .... before I deleted I wrote .....
"Nope. Only confirmed when its up and operating. Aka ROL."

And now that ROL is operating it's still not what was promised ......... so we can't always trust concept art or DPB descriptions.

Any attraction from the 1980 and beyond would make Tomorrowland more futuristic than it is now. Everything in Tomorrowland is about as old and enjoyable as River Country is today. There is absolutely nothing futuristic in Tomorrowland. Maybe the only thing is a rumor in the future.

The problem was they replicated DL Tomorrowland, which when it was built was the future. I don't think Walt could have ever predicted how fast technology would move in the years past his death. The future is always dated by time Disney finishes. It's a land that needs a serious look at - not a monster of an attraction that will dwarf and shadow the rest ...

IF they could figure out some Jetson or hovercraft for the Speedway :thumbsup2

I can't visualize how this would fit in the speedway's area.

I did this super quick, just taking from Google Earth and not sure if I got all of the show building correct, but something like this I suppose (though it might need to be pushed back more to work well with the train line and maybe more of the showbuilding is back in that grassy area behind Space Mountain

I can't visualize how Tron would fit with the Teacups right next door, or even Dumbo but I agree that Tomorrowland needs and upgrade

The height alone of the building next to these 1 - 1.5 story whimsical buildings is crazy. It will look some some big space ship, like Independence Day, attacking Fantasyland & Storybook Circus.

Yup, they have to turn it. So you see where the train has to go through it ... so either they redesign (defeats purpose of replication for savings) or they build this thing even higher to clear the train ...........

Would take a lot more engineering than just duplicating the existing ride, but a non-roller coaster Tron Lightbike "Speedway" would be pretty neat.

Well there is always this....maybe we get a different version? Perhaps the imagineers can cook up something that would fit the space and not be an eyesore.

Well, it's always possible that the exterior of the building might look different. Unlikely, but maybe. Or maybe this rumor is off-base entirely. There were rumors of this coming to Epcot before MK anyway.

I'd just like to see electric vehicles with a more future style, and future scenery as well. Other than that, Speedway is fine. Kids love it!

I'd put maybe a TRON VR experience in where Stitch is before going this route.

While I think Tomorrowland speedway is:

1) Dated (you can find better go-karts in most big cities and most tourist attractions that don't go super slow and don't have rails) .. Just look to LEGOLAND for a toddler and elementary age versions of go-karts at their Driving School attraction (and takes up a lot less space).

2) Takes up WAY too much space.

3) Has low capacity (especially for the space it uses)

4) Is not really "tomorrowland" themed in any way.

5) Doesn't "feel" green with all those smelly fumes going over the place. (Though it realistically doesn't take much gasoline).

6) Not unique - Every theme park I've been going to since the 80s (King's Dominion, Six Flags, etc.) has had some version of this attraction.

The fact remains that I don't think MK needs anything right now. It is quite busy without it. So I don't see them spending money on another top tier attraction/coaster at MK when the other parks have severe lack of attractions still (including AK despite the addition of Pandora).
They will focus their attention on Epcot next to help distribute the crowds between all four parks.

I was stunned they havent tried a cars overlay on the speedway...seems like that could have been done easily

My guess is that anything less than Radiator Springs will be disliked and complained about. Personally I think they could do a really cute overlay and kids will still like it ... but other than TSL, I don't think Disney is planning and building "rides" for young kids anymore.

They wouldn't be stupid enough to put two rollercoasters right next to each other. Or would they?
