Good morning everyone

My totals for May 22-31 are
299 minutes
20.15 miles

Quiet here, sitting through baseball games and enjoying the weather, my youngest son is taking driver's ed and apparently so am I!!! Who would have thought at my age! As long as he passes that's all I care about. Now he wants to drive all the time and I want a nice strong drink! :drinking1

Have a great week

Ok May has turned out to be a dudd for me. Although this past week has been lookign SLIGHTLY better. This past Saturday I went to the park and ran a 5k and actually beat my best time ever! Boy was I tired after though! My poor body was trying to take in oxygen as quickly as possible, haha!

May 15-21st: 4mi, 85mins
May 22-28th: 8.95mi, 235mins
May 29th-31st: 3.1mi, 30mins

Good job, everyone!!

I expect we'll have a few stragglers coming in to post, so we'll keep this thread going, but I'm not sure if Bryan has come up with a name for the June thread. I didn't have any ideas other than something about Ducks eating June bugs...:confused3 Keep those totals coming!!

Spreadsheet is updated through the current posts. Y'all be sure and double check me from time to time, ok?

I need to get my totals together later. Good thing is it will include one race for doubled miles. Bad thing is that my 65 mile bike ride on Saturday first turned into a 50 mile ride, but then ended up being only 25 because I had a really bad tire. Shame on me for not checking my gear first. And I was having a great ride until that point! Now starting to feel a summer cold or something coming on, so cross your fingers for me I don't really get sick. 1/2 Ironman in 2 weeks, and I'm not really ready. Will have to pull this one out of thin air. (or somewhere :rotfl:)

Tricia...good on you for all the good family time! Now go for a walk! ;)

Big Vic...hope the LTO/WTO isn't getting you down. Hugs!!

Hope to hear from Running Mouse who DKP sent our way!

And can't wait for SamSam's Trip report from South America. Too exciting!

Keep it up guys! I suspect we'll have a solid 10,000 miles by early June.

Quick flyby -I am going to report my time real quick and then come back later to report on everyone else's accomplishments. You are all doing awesome though!

My time for this week.

Miles - 125
Hours - 16.25

I will be back later like I said. Tomorrow is DD's birthday so I am going to spend some time with her.

Have a great night everyone!
Bryan:cheer2::woohoo::yay:

I am finally back with a picture of the baby. Still nothing to add for walking/running/anything. I am really ready for a walk - might get that in tonight (if it doesn't rain) Bryan I hope things are better for you and Happy Birthday to your DD.

Anyway here is a picture of my precious niece Summer Erika Teaghan

Tricia....your new niece is beautiful!

Finally got my week totals together for 5/22-31:

Swim: 3.2 miles/2:35
Bike: 58.2 miles/3:50
Run: 5.8 miles/1:05
Walk: 1.8 miles/:30

Race: 0.5 mile swim/12.4 mile bike/ 3.1 mile run = 16 miles x 2 is 32 miles/1:35

Total: 101 miles/9:35 hours

I like it.
Now, if I could shake this summer cold I got on Sunday which totally wrecked my attempt at getting a good long run in yesterday evening!

Everyone has been doing fantastic!

Tricia What an awesome picture of the new niece!!

We have had another great month here for the month of May but now it is time for us to go to the new thread. June has started and so has the thread. Let's not forget to congregate over there and keep each other motivated throughout the Summer months.

Thanks everyone!
Bryan:yay::woohoo::cheer2:

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

This one is JenG's very good question to the cousins, excerpted, about the difference between building a base and training for a race. The mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread.

What is the difference between maintaining or building a base and training for a race? I've only been running for a year and I've either been taking time off running or training for a race. What is just building a base?

How is your approach (mental or otherwise) and exercise routine different when building your base versus training? Do you run less? Do different exercises? Approach the run differently psychologically?
