trip with my two girls

I am taking my two daughters (10 & 3) to disney for a quick trip and need some advice:

1. disney or universal hotel
2. any good rates for july
3. suggetions for traveling alone with the two girls.

I have an 11 yr old girl and there are things at Universal she likes but nothing really at IOA. I would stay at a Disney Resort. If you are going to the parks at Disney I would say stay at a Disney Monorail resort. It will make life much easier for all of you.
Just hop on the Monorail with stroller and you have access to two parks.
I know the Disney VIsa is offering discounts but you must have the Disney VIsa to use it. The Disney site has a link to the Visa page.
I have never done the parks alone with my daughter but this yr we probably will do some alone since DH wants to go to Kennedy space one day and he likes to sleep in (what is he thinking )
MY daughter will have a Cell phone with her this summer. I don't like the walkie talkies because others can hear you. I don't see us being apart but if it happens for some reason she will have her cell with my no# programed into it. In the bathrooms when my daughter gets out and I am still in another stall she calls out to me , I show her my foot under the door and she comes to my door and waits until I am finished.

I had my first "Mother / Daughter Vacation" at Walt Disney World last Fall. My daughter's age falls between your two daughters' ages. If you would like to read my trip report, click here to go to it. (Note: Please look through the entire thread because I posted details on various pages of it.) We had the best time during our vacation. It was priceless and I will cherish the memories always.

If you plan to visit Universal Studios, you get unlimited Express Pass entry for the rides and shows if you stay at a Universal Studios hotel.

We stayed at Hard Rock Hotel for the 1st three nights during our last visit, then stayed at WDW for the remainder of our stay. If your "quick trip" is long enough, you may want to consider staying at both places.

Although I cannot speak from experience, from the research I have done it seems that there is much more to do for my 4 year-old at WDW than at Universal. I'll let you know after we visit both in May. I would highly recommend the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Epcot. My DD's loved it and I have heard many others speak highly of it.
