Trip Report in Progress: Day 7, Back at Epcot, page 6.

Quick lunch at the hotel, no pics, Imagine time again - a bacon and cheese hamburger and fries.

SIL and DN went to BBB to get dolled up. I don't have their pics. DH and I took DD to Periwig's in the Yacht Club for her hair. DD had done BBB before and wasn't a fan, she wanted a more normal Belle-like hair style. SIL and DN met us later at Akerhaus.

Block your eyes if you're sensitive, Love Bugs mating! I did laugh, DD was telling the adults around us what they were what they were doing and a bit about the whole process. :rotfl: It was very factual.

We caught the boat into Epcot and started in France. DD had perfect timing and we saw Belle and Beast. DD danced with Beast for a few moments. One of the highlights of her trip.

I had Meatballs. Tasted a bit like Ikea meatballs, just better.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel via Test Track with our Fast Passes. DD did it in her Belle frock. Not very elegant! No pics on that one.

Tomorrow I'll start with our Animal Kingdom day.

Great trip report. I am jealous that your DD and DN will pose for photo's.

Love the photos, this has probably been said a million times but what camera/lens do you primarily use? Absolutely beautiful, especially the ones of the sunrise :)

Great Trip Report. I'll be looking forward to this everyday.
Thank you!

All caught up
Cool - more to come.

DD especially likes having her pics taken. Well most of the time!

I took two cameras this trip - the main one being the Canon 60D with two lenses, the Wide Angle Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 and the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8. Most of the pics so far have been using one of those two lenses.

I did take a P&S away as well. It's a Canon G11 (since superseded with a G12.) It would be the best P&S out there! I purchased a waterproof casing for the G11 before we went from B&H. This pic is from later on in the trip, but here is from the G11 using the waterproof case from when we had a swim, underwater.

I made the mistake on that of not shooting in RAW and/or using an Underwater setting. I've been fiddling with what I can in Lightroom to try to get the white balance fixed, but so far no luck!

Loving the updates:thumbsup2.
I was wondering if you enjoyed staying at POFQ? Did it live up to your expectations and would you recommend staying there?:):)

Your photos are absolutely stunning. I really love the sunrise one's from POFQ, I love photos without the people, they are so hard to get at Disney.

The girls look gorgeous in their costumes. YC salon did a fantastic job with your daughters hair, so cute, what a clever idea to go and do that.

Oh I wish I had known about the meatballs before our last trip. That is now on our list for next time as I love ikea meatballs, mmmm.

Loving your TR!

Kylie I love all the images from around POFQ, it's definitely a resort we would consider on our next trip. Just gorgeous.

The girls look stunning. I didn't realise there was another hair option at the Yacht Club. I like your daughters hair so much.

loving your photos and i amazed at how quickly you are doing your trip report, I'm still editing the photopass photo's and we have been home 4 weeks today:eek: Keep it coming it makes me feel like i am there:)

This is really neat! It looks like your family had such a lovely time.
Don't rush your TR - we like to make these things last!!
Love the Mary Poppins photo - and that MP looks just like the MP in the Sydney stage production!
Love the shot of your "belle" princess with Beast - how great!
I'm thinking part of your problem with US sugar is the prevalence of high fructose corn syrup which is very hard to digest. Not so much used in australia / more easily avoided in Australia - cause in the US it is in EVERYTHING

Love your Belle with Belle and the Beast. It could be a marketing image. I love that it could be anyone's child but she is yours.

I can't wait to hear what you thought of POFQ. It is on our lust of potential places to stay when we venture to WDW.

Loving your trip report, and another food porn fan!!

Thank you! There is a bit more food porn to come, just not as much!

Thanks Miss Shuttergirl. Periwig's is a regular hair salon - the two customers before us were having hair cuts! They also look like they did mani/pedis etc. It was small, but we had wonderful personal service and they could do as they wished as they were proper hair dressers.

Hope your trip report is coming soon. No excuses!!! :rotfl:

I'm trying not to rush the report, but I tend to forget to finish these things, so I figure I'll try to get it done.

On the HFCS I do have diagnosed Fructose Malabsorption which has similar affects to lactose intolerance. I had the complete forget where I was when I had the coke. It's a balancing act though and even at home despite being careful I sometimes slip up!

Loving the updates:thumbsup2.

Thanks for the comments on DD.

On POFQ - I didn't mind it, was a quick walk from point A to B. I couldn't stretch the budget to stay at the deluxes. Recently refurbed, has two queens. We were in an outer building and was still quick to the food court. If you took away the theming I would liken it to a good Best Western, smaller rooms. If went again and stayed at a moderate we would stay there. But to be honest I really liked the Yacht Club feel every time we walked through there! My budget may not agree with that statement. :)

Next Post: Dramas at Animal Kingdom.

Hahaha, Kylie you crack me up eg. Next post, dramas at Magic Kingdom :lmao:.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the next update :rotfl2:

Day 3: Animal Kingdom.

This was the biggest of our drama days, I'll divide it into three!!! Before DH become sick, during, and after! There aren't too many photos from today.

Before....

Animal Kingdom is pretty, even when it's hot. It was EMH - I obtained fast passes for Expedition Everest whilst everyone dawdled over to the Safari. We met up. Safari was nice, we then walked over to Kali River Rapids which DH and I sat out, then EE. Here are a few pics from this portion of the day...

Up next... dramas when DH gets sick.

Animal Kingdom - Continued....

What do you get when you put together....

  • Middle-aged male (DH)
  • Excessive heat and humidity
  • An arm dislocation and put back in on Expedition Everest
  • Through in some dehydration
  • And prior heart surgery (5 years ago)
You get an ECG with paramedics at Animal Kingdom!

In all seriousness, not fun. Won't make it too gross, DH was in a bad way. The cast members called the Disney Paramedics. They did the whole ECG, blood pressure, etc thing. SIL took DN and DD off while this was happening. DD has seen a few family members carted off in ambulances previously and ECGs etc happening in front of her, so not a biggie, but it really upset DN.

The treatment and assistance we received was wonderful. Wasn't a heart attack, thank goodness. The ECG showed electrolyte imbalance. They offered but didn't think transport to hospital was necessary, just a good rest and some Gatorade type fluids to assist. He was monitored for about 30 minutes, then a cast member put him in a wheelchair and took him to first aid. The nurses there gave and monitored him on further fluids. On the way to first aid the duty manager gave us an additional day's entry to AK (we didn't need this, but she did this anyway.)

One of the security people went and found from our description SIL, DN and DD and let them know what was happening and we caught up. SIL took DN and DD for some further rides before returning to the hotel (this is a simultaneous time line to the next para.)

After a while it was time to go back to the hotel. They asked how we were getting there and I said I would get a cab. They said no, called Guest Relations and within 10 minutes a Guest Relations rep took us in a company Disney Car back to the hotel, right to the building we were staying in.

DH rested, I did laundry. :laundy:

We have written to AK and the paramedics since returning home thanking them for their help. They were wonderful. DH has spoken to our GP and is seeing him face to face next week. From our description and info GP isn't too worried, but wants to follow up himself.

DH was meant to do the Steam Train tour early the next morning but we decided to cancel. This was prepaid. I spoke to concierge and there were notes against our reservation about the morning's incidents. They canceled the tour for him and we received, to our surprise, a refund!

Now that's the worst of it from the week, though we have a few more issues, and monitoring and worrying about DH was very tiring (not a whinge - I'm sure you know what I mean by that.) I was really glad when we landed in Sydney.

Next update - gets a bit better - and it RAINS and RAINS and RAINS!

Such gorgeous photos again, the colours are just amazing.

Wow, how stressful! Thank goodness your DH was ok, that is certainly not the eventful trip you had been planning for.

I had an encounter with the WDW paramedics too on one trip. We arrived at WDW after 42hrs of travel thanks to flight cancellation and I fainted. Paramedics came, went off to hospital, found to have no potassium and was severely dehydrated. Put on drip, given potassium & they then gave me a drug I was allergic too (it has a different name in the USA, so I had told them, but they didn't know the name used around the world and not in the usa), then had to be treated and monitored after allergic reaction. After a full day in the ER and $6500 later I toddled off back to the hotel where we were given free room service and were so well looked after by AKL cast members.

So glad you DH was ok in the end :goodvibes
