Day 3 11.04.2007

Up early to pack, I managed to get a bit of sleep during the night this time! We headed down to breakfast a little later then allocated but we were seated straight away. After breakfast we went to get all our luggage and loaded the car up. We arrived at the park just after 10am, there were loads of characters just after the turnstiles, my niece wanted to see Friar Tuck so I waited as another family was already waiting to see him, he saw my niece and came straight to us. My niece didn’t like Baloo when she got close but she did like the Penguin from Mary Poppins. We headed straight to Discoveryland for the Buzz Lightyear ride; my BIL didn’t want to go on it so he waited with my niece. The queue was about 30 minutes but getting much longer once we had joined.

I really liked this ride, I scored about 60,000 and my sister scored 84,000. We looked at the on ride photo but didn’t buy it as we looked like we were concentrating so much:goodvibes . We wanted to take my niece on the train but the station at Discoveryland was closed for some unknown reason. My niece had fallen asleep by now so we were heading for the Studios for the last time, as we were going up Main Street the Disneyland Express came down again, I managed to get some photos with my proper camera this time. We looked in a couple of shops before we left for the studios.

It was relatively quiet again here, a few characters were about the Chipmunks, Sully, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy then came out. One of the Chipmunks pushed Goofy when he was posing for a photo and then the chipmunk went and did the same to Pluto who started chasing him around the entrance part. Looked in the shop before heading into the main part of the park. As I was queuing for a drink I noticed Mickey was at his trailer again so we went over to try and get a photo, as we got there he was leaving again but he turned and saw my niece and was happy to pose for a photo before going. Finally we had managed to get the elusive photo with Mickey.

As time was flying by we headed back to the Village for lunch in McDonalds, we did some final shopping and had a look in the HNY for the t-shirt for my niece but had no luck. Goofy was at this hotel and my niece had to go see him; we had to drag her away crying, as she wanted to stay with him. We went through our hotel once last time to get the car; I quickly checked the shop here for the t-shirt and was stalked by Pluto whilst doing so as it was really quiet.

Had a good drive back to Calais, with no queues/jams. We boarded the ferry and arrived in Dover about 8.15pm as the ferry was a bit late leaving. We arrived home just after 9pm.

It was a great but tiring holiday. I have never gone with a child before and was probably more tired then when I have gone with friends and family.

The weather was fantastic throughout our stay. I didn’t encounter any pushing for the characters either this time, I’m sure this was because they came to us, one bonus for taking a little child with us;) all the CM’s we came across were friendly and polite.

I hope I haven't bored people too much as this was my 1st trip report. I will post some more photos when I get them off my sister.

A lovely ending to what sounds like a fantastic trip! The good weather really does make a difference, doesn't it? Not that it's not enjoyable otherwise, I just think it's the icing on the cake princess:

:) Definatly not boring! It was great to hear about your trip and the pics are great, I hadn't seen the disney express yet so I really liked those ones.
How many carriages of characters does it have?

Great you managed to get a pic with Mickey :thumbsup2
We found that characters often went over to young children in pushchairs. A lovely gesture but a little frustrating for slightly older children when they just get to the front of a group around a character and it goes off over to a pram. :rolleyes1 Spot the people it happened to repeatedly :rolleyes1 (Chicken Little was the worst for this)

It has 2 carriages behind the enigine.

I can understand how frustrating it is when that happens as it has happened to me several times. I always stood back while holding my niece to allow others to go 1st, sometimes the characters would come over to us. I felt guilty when this happened but I couldn't do anything about it.

I've really enjoyed reading about your trip, it wasn't boring in the least and I hope it will be the first of many that you will share! :goodvibes

Glad you had such a fabulous holiday and thank goodness you managed to get that photo with Mickey! :wizard:
