Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

The only time I ever asked for one item to be taken off the bill is just before Christmas we went to Chinese and I found an opened staple in my fried rice. I was lucky I noticed it right away, I could have really hurt myself as it was very sharp. Never would I do that because I didn't like it though. It's certainly not their fault if something is not exactly to my liking.

Well, if you show them a staple (or any non-food item) in your food, they should be handing you back the money! Definitely worth removing something from the bill - plus, you probably could not have eaten it.

That is just awful saying you didn't like it so you won't have to pay!!

But then again it certainly sounds like it wasn't all that bad if you ate most of it.

People are just plain rude.

It's to bad that waitress just said ok.

Loved the family pic in that car- very cute. You'll just have to cut out the "hitchhikers"

Maybe they took their role of "Hitchhiker" seriously and really thought it was a free ride. :)

John and I were just talking about people "like that" the other day when we went out to eat. Like you said, it sounds like they have the whole thing rehearsed. It makes me so mad! I wonder just how many people get away with it at a place like Disney because they are pretty sure that the wait staff is going to have to be kind to them and take it off their bill?

:lmao: Well that sounds like the kind of nincompoops that I usually run into on my trips! Don't those kind of people make for a grand dining experience! :sad2:

Nincompoops :rotfl2::lmao:

How can people think it's okay to do that sort of thing, pretend something wasn't good just so they don't have to pay, yet eat almost all of it? It's pretty low...

I know, I was shocked!! :eek::confused3

Hi Shelley! Thanks for doing another wonderful trip report, yours are always so enjoyable to read, the DISboards should use them as an example.

I've watched your boys grow up on here, since meeting all of you on the January '09 trip thread WAAAAY back in '08. They grow up SO fast, mine too I guess LOL.

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and thanks and looking forward to reading more!

Wow, long time no see!! Thanks so much, so glad you are enjoying the TR! ::yes::

I know, the boys are growing up way too fast. I remember how little they were on that Jan '09 trip. :faint:

Thanks for reading, feel free to post anytime! :thumbsup2

Your Sci_fi meals look really good. Especially the milkshakes! That is too funny how you had to go about getting a grilled chicken sandwich. A chicken BLT....hold the B. :upsidedow Reminds me of your DS's grilled cheese.....hold the cheese! ;)

Now, about those hitchhikers behind you. They sound like a couple of scam artists. :sad2: For you to not hear them saying anything about the food being bad, and then for them to eat most of it - I smell a rat! Even if they aren't trying to get away with something, it's pretty sketchy to do somethig like that.

It was really good. Very difficult to get, but good. :confused3:rotfl:

I really do think those people were scam artists. It was just all too rehearsed. Plus she had eaten almost all of whatever it was. :faint: :sad2:

Okay. Now I know Disney is known for service, but I really think they shoot themselves in the foot sometimes. Your hitchikers remind me of a story I heard Kevin say on the podcast about a guy who didn't have an ADR at all at Chefs de France and because he threw a hissy fit and yelled enough about his poor hungry children (yeah, they're special like that), they sat him BEFORE all the people sitting waiting for their ADRs. Disney really needs to stop catering to these people, it's ruining it for the rest of us. I wish the server would have told your "friends" that she'd get a manager, and he/she could ask them what was so bad if they ate that much of it. They need to politely challenge these people - Who says "you can take that off the bill"???? :confused3 GRRRR.

End of rant. Carry on.

Loving your TR as usual. ;)

Yes, you are right. I think that is what people count on -- WDW going above and beyond, but man this is ridiculous. I seriously can not imagine ever saying -- I didn't like this and you can just take it off the bill. :scared1:

You know what? People do it because they get away with it. It would serve them right if they were here on the DIS and saw their picture and were highly embarrassed.:headache:

What a bunch of cheap behinds. (I almost used the 44 word.;))

Once again, I have no faith in society anymore.

Whatever happened to people paying their own way in this life? Whatever happened to common decency?

If we ever don't like something, we don't complain. If the waitress notices we didn't eat, then we may admit that it wasn't to our liking, but we ALWAYS insist on paying for it regardless of if we took one bite or twenty. SOMEONE has to pay for it. We ordered it. It's not like it can be used again. And THEN we tip 20-25%, regardless of the service or the hostess or the wait staff or the bartender. It's just the RIGHT thing to do.

That does it.
I officially don't like people.

(Present company in this thread excluded of course.):lmao:

:rotfl2:

I knew you would just love this story!! :rotfl:

Yes, people have no common decency. They just don't. :confused3 Everybody wants something for nothing. :headache:

Well now I think that is a reasonable request!! I remember once DH got a chicken salad from Wendy's and there was a big chunk of plastic in it. Not even sure what it was - it looked like an over-sized Lego actually. :faint: And when he took it back up to the counter to show them they didn't even offer him his money back - they offered him another salad. :rotfl:

I know, she should have went and got a manager. But they were just so adamant about it saying -- you can just take it off the bill -- that I'm sure she was intimidated. :sad2:

Sadly probably more than we think. :sad2:

Good Lord! That reminds me of the lady who found the finger in the Wendy's chili! :scared: :crazy2: :scared: :crazy2: And you know what... she was a scam artist too!!!!! She planted the finger in the chili so she could sue them... do you remember that? What a NUT! Ok... this conversation has helped me tremendously with my diet b/c I have totally lost my appetite. Think I'll be skipping dinner tonight! :upsidedow

That's too funny! I was just looking at someone's cruise TR and it was full of fabulous looking food and I was getting hungry.

Not any more.

:teeth:

You know me too well.

:rotfl:

:scared1: I don't remember that, but I do remember someone supposedly finding a finger in their Diet Pepsi once. :faint: :sad2:

How about the person who sued McDonalds because they spilled hot coffee on themselves? :crazy2:

:rotfl2:

Wish I could say I lost my appetite.

I went to two grocery stores today and was so proud of myself. I bought all sorts of vegetables and fresh fruit. I had really good intentions of making a salad with it. So what did I do? I came home and unloaded the groceries then ate a bag of cheetos and finished it off with a pack of Reese Cups while I watched Days of our Lives. I did make myself feel better about my lunch though, since I didn't drink a soda with it. :scared:

Gotta save those calories somewhere. :crazy2:

Well I am feeling pretty good about myself then -- I had a salad for lunch today at school!!!! :) You usually eat so much better than me! :faint: Of course I DID have a Mtn. Dew with mine! :guilty:

I have to say though -- your lunch sounds so much better. ::yes:: :rotfl:

lol Jodi, sounds like my kind of lunch!

::yes::

:lmao:

Sorry Sheree! Guess I should've left that story in the history books... at least until after dinner!

And Jo, my being grossed out obvioulsy didn't last too long. I think it was all forgotten about 3 1/2 minutes after I logged off the DIS b/c I just finished woofing down mac and cheese for dinner. :sad2: I did have some green beans and grilled chicken with it though... so I didn't do too bad. And there wasn't a finger, plastic lego or staple on the menu anywhere... it was quite tasty! :lmao:

You should NEVER have mentioned Reese's Cups though. I'm drooling at the thought!

I vaguely remember the story of the finger in Wendy's chili. It makes you wonder, though.......where the heck does someone get hold of a finger to pull off a scam like that? :confused3

I mean really what the heck?

Wouldn't you think if the man who is missing the finger found said digit after it was removed he would be like-- Say, ER doc, think you might could sew this back on? Instead, he's like Say, crazy lady- can I put my finger in your chili?

Now as far as eating bad stuff all day--- I'm staying away from home today to keep my fully attached digits out of the pantry where I keep the Reeses stash. Otherwise I'd be all up in it. Again. :faint:

How strange that Sci-Fi didn't have a chicken sandwich on the menu (those are usually pretty standard). And it sounds like you had some interesting company at your meal as well. People like that are the reason why everyone else has to pay higher prices.
