Our family of five arrived on Wednesday August 4th and when we checked in at 3:30pm our unit was ready. We have a dedicated two bedroom on the top floor in building 23, right over the bridge from the Hospitality House (with a direct view from our balcony). After the many threads on maintenance of DVC, I have to say that everything I've seen at OKW is in tip top shape from the newly painted building signs to the exercise room which seems to have new weight equipment from when we were here last to the pool area where the chairs appear newer to our unit which was spotless and up-to-date.
Thursday was MK day and we stayed to the end to see Spectromagic and Wishes. Crowds were average at best and the only long queues were for rides that were broken down for short periods (Splash Mountain, Pirates, Space Mountain). Mickey's PhilharMagic was great. It seemed short in length, but that didn't stop us from doing it again. A late lunch at the Liberty Tree tavern was scrumptuous, but next time I'll make sure I'm hungrier so I can take advantage of the all you can eat part to get better value for the money.
Friday was shopping at DD (I'm the only guy, so DW and DD's outvoted me). We parked at the west side and walked our way around to the east side. We then continued our walk over to SSR to visit the model in unit 2607. It's a grand villa and it really shows well. That unit alone will sell a lot of DVC. Upon signing the member register, we got a free pin of SSR. The what looked to be four buildings open at the resort were pretty full, but the infrastructure is setup for a lot more guests and the result is no crowds at the main pool. The DD's want to pool hop there later today if the rains hold off. The new DVC sales center is impressive. The only thing not easy to find is the bridge back to DD. It's the old golf bridge, but it's not well marked from the resort side.
I'll take some pix later this weekend of SSR and post them with a second update. Off to Epcot now for some rides and food
