Trip in Jan. on Air-Tran..any thoughts???

We are coming to Disney the end of Jan. 2005, and I have started to check air fare. I'm a bit shocked that rates are 200.00 and up and many of the planes are booked for direct flights (out of Philadelphia).. I got a quote of 146.98 RT on Air Tran... Has anyone had experience with them???

Should I "jump" on that fare or wait till closer to the travel date...
Anyone have experience traveling in Jan.. getting better rates.???

We have used Air Tran and think they are pretty good. The planes are newer than a lot of airlines. Their people are friendly and helpful. Really can't say anything bad about them. They have the same delays as everyone else. We will be using them again in two weeks.

I can't speak from personal experience, but my brother has flown airtran several times and has nothing but good things to say. If it were me, I'd jump on a flight that was around 200. I'm having trouble finding anything under 300. Good luck on your search.

Air Tran is great! I only fly with them when I got to Florida. I am going again in September and got roundtrip airfare for $116.80. I would just keep checking their web-site because the cheapest fares are there. I tried booking the exact same flight through both expedia and travelocity and the airfare was always a good $100+ more expensive. I went last year the end of January and got a rate of $174.00. So I think $146 is pretty good!

after reading all of your good feedback we are going for it! Haven't been able to find anything else that comes even close.. A friend told me about USA3000 but they only fly into St. Pete's. If anyone gets the opportunity, USA 3000 is suppose to be fabulous with customer service!!

have only flown Air Tran twice and will never fly them again...even for a low fare. They are a bare to bone discount airline. They often do not bother to vacuum the plane between flights which causes them to be filthy. I have known several people who have flown with them and hated them too. Also, the planes were late every time I took them. Once, they changed the airport from ORD to Midway in Chicago. Midway is only convientant for people who live south of the city. I wrote to complain about the extra time and expense to get to Midway and they sent me a from letter that basically said to bad, so sad. If money is an issue and you have plenty of time on your hands, fly Air Tram, otherwise fly another discount carrier.

Have flown with them a few times and NEVER had any problems with them. I ALWAYS check them out first when traveling for good prices. I have to travel to Rochester,N.Y. from Syracuse but it is worth every penny. If only they would come to Syracuse.:thewave:

Still checking out flights etc. When I added on taxes etc. it came to over $200 per person (there are 6 of us). Think I'll keep an eye on it and watch for lower fares closer to Jan. .

I'm playing the wait and see game for the first week of December. Airtran has a sale on right now that ends August 12th. Still over $200 for the flights I want. I'm hoping for another sale to start in september to get it under the $200. In the meantime I scour websites looking for better deals, but Airtran is usually the best for us out of Rochester. We've flown with them a half dozen times without a hitch.

Never any problem with Airtran...have flown them many many times (20+). I've had few to none delays and those were due to bad weather at my destination. I also have never seen a filthy plane that I've personally been on either. As a matter of fact, my last two trips, the planes were BRAND new!

Would I recommend Airtran...you bet! Would I buy tickets now for January? No way....I would wait until late October UNLESS their is a super fare that pops up...like $140 or less RT but otherwise, I would wait...they have great sales. I just posted about one today that had great rates but only thru 09/30. I am planning a honeymoon to Hawaii for next May but I won't even look for air until about Feb/March or later next year.

I have been checking everyday but believe waiting is the best thing especially because the rates continue to go up !
What goes up always comes down right !!!
