It completely sucks my parents were to join us this week along with two of my siblings and their kids.

My dad has put out his back 100% out and is flat on his back...they are having to cancel.

So now we have all these park tickets that are not refundable, we have 2 x 6 day park hopper, 2 x Halloween party for the second and 2 x 2 park hopper.

Any Ideas? My mom would love to pay it forward, underprivileged single parent and child? I don't even know if we can do this? Or does Disney ever accept donated tickets and do this?

At his point I will not be trying to sell or give away, just seeing what is possible, we can hold out hope for next week, likely a slim hope though .

I don't know for sure if this works, but it is certainly worth looking into. My sister-in-law almost had to cancel on us, and we had already bought tickets. The folks at Get Away Today (we had bought park hoppers from them before the price went up) told us that we could take her ticket to City Hall - or mail it in - and Disney would refund the price when they saw the ticket wasn't used. My SIL was able to come after all, so we didn't need to use it, but it could be worth a phone call at least! I know the party tickets are not refundable, but you may have some luck with your park hoppers.

So sorry you won't be able to make your trip! Hope your dad gets feeling better!

Did you talk to Disney? I know they say tix are non-refundable but I'd confirm that through them.

oh ya i know they can refund tickets at city hall to if you cant give them away or want to get the money back im sure at city hall you could do that, we had to do that for my dads tticket in may. He was really really sick. so he couldnt go to park. they also gave me a free day for my moms unused day (even tho id love the 2x 2 hopper) id still elt you know bout this at least you can try get the magority of your money back at city hall.

Certainly nothing to lose by trying! I will file that in the memory banks though...thanks

That is very kind, and appreciated. Fingers crossed, my dad is so sad they cannot some, the cost is just salt in the wound .

maybe he will still be able to make it. maybe rent a wheel chair for him so he can still enjoy it?

We had talked about a scooter...but he is a long way from that at this point, stuck in bed for now. Pixie dust willingly solicited and gratefully accepted.

I am no help with the tickets, but wanted to say I hope your Dad gets better soon and can make the trip with you.

If you used a credit card to purchase your tickets, you may have insurance for this kind of circumstance. Doesn't hurt to check it out.

Hope everything goes well for you and your Dad feels better soon!

:):):)

Oh, your poor dad! I threw my back out 8 years ago (sneezed while walking!) and was on muscle relaxants and Vicodin for a week. I hope he is no longer in any pain!

Good luck with salvaging the tickets somehow (either through a refund or gifting it forward to a family who can't afford it). When do your tickets expire? Maybe you could donate them to an Orange County battered women's shelter? I bet some of the families dealing with such serious life changes would love to "escape" for the day to Disneyland.

That was part of my question am I allowed to donate unused tickets? Or is that considered a transfer and tickets are not transferable.
Ah... This bites!
