I have officially booked our trip for October 10-14. Myself, DH, DS9 and DD7.
Have booked flights, hotel, bought tickets and photopass. Now the fun begins of the obsessive, all consuming planning:cool1:

We always eat at Goofy's for dinner once each trip. Is Getawaytoday the best pricing for Vouchers currently? Anywhere else I should look?
In the past we used LMT, but they aren't offering anything Disney at this time.

Now to decide on adding the MHP for the Friday night we are there. I know I asked about this on another thread, but only received one response. I'm seriously torn on this! DH wants to do it. I am not too sure I want to spend the money. I wouldn't have a problem with the money if I felt we could actually get anything done during the party. From a few past trip reports it sounded like it's wall to wall people and you have to stand in line for 20-30 minutes for each candy station for the trick or treating. I barely like standing in line that long for RIDES...seems a little crazy to do this for candy. And doesn't sound like ride lines are great either...
Maybe I have a skewed vision in my head??? I mean it sounds like people LOVE this event. So maybe it's all worth it??
I need to make this decision soon, so we don't risk a sale-out before we make up our minds;)

Again, would love some opinions on this subject...

Haven't attended DLR's Halloween party *but will be late Oct!! Have attended the Party at WDW...

Character meal vouchers ~ also check ARES *click character experiences.

i would go i am going to mhp, but id not waist all the time for candy there is alot to see and do there. make sure to get good seats for parade and fireworks.

check the Halloween super thread out it has alot info

We went to the Halloween party last year and had a lot of fun. It IS very busy, particularly for the first couple of hours while the day crowd is still filtering out of the park. After the fireworks, the park cleared out nicely.

I think the lines for candy were only long in some places (areas that see heavy traffic anyways) and even then, it was mostly just for those first few busy hours. We didn't bother with candy for the at first because we didn't want to carry it around all night, and when we came upon treat trails later, there were never significant lines.

The lines for some rides were longer than others. Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, and Space Mountain were ridiculous early in the evening and stayed long most of the night. Other rides were busy at first, but lines got a lot shorter after the fireworks.

The Halloween fireworks are one of the good reasons to go. They are amazing! Also fun are the different characters that can be found around the parks that you often don't see, like Jack and Sally, Stormtroopers, and Maleficent. The "dance parties" didn't have much appeal for us last year, but we stopped by the pirate-themed party because my DF was in pirate costume, and it was actually quite fun. (If we go again this year, we're going to plan to visit at least one.)

Finally, the Halloween party is the only time when adults are allowed to be in costume in the parks. If you've no interest in being in costume, it won't mean much. If you're thinking it might even be a little fun, DO IT! We had a blast, and we able to interact with CMs in a different way than usual because of our costumes. (I was dressed as a Jedi, and the Stormtroopers tried to arrest me!)

Character dining vouchers will be sold at the same price regardless of where you by them...$33 for character meals - $40 for premium character meals.
We are attending the party for the first time as well.
Good luck on your decision.

I think I'm leaning towards going ahead and booking the MHP.... I think the kids would think that's the best thing ever to trick or treat at DL! And it sounds like most people love the MHP even with the crowds. So may be worth it at least once:)

And on a side note, I have been obsessing over which dates to go, making sure we won't miss out on anything we want to do and see... searching for better hotel rates, etc. A few months ago we decided we weren't going this year after going the past 4 years. When we looked earlier in the year airfare was crazy high! Well a couple weeks ago I got the itch again, and started looking, and sure enough airfare was back down to a normal range, the best we had seen in quite a while.

Yesterday everything just came together, found the best deal on the FFI that we always stay at, and I knew it was time to book and stop going over and over and over everything. I am so happy I did! Airfare raised quite a bit today! Talk about booking in the nick of time!
And Today in the mail I got a Disney Visa offer that after first purchase I will get a $200 Disney Gift Card to use in the parks or Disney Stores...hmmm, What timing is that?!

Don't you love when everything falls into place and it's like a sign that this trip was meant to be:goodvibes

If the visa offer is to your family, not just you, you can use the same offer for both you and your DH by opening one account in your name and use the same coupon code in his and get$400 worth of Disney gift cards. That is,so long as you don t mind opening two accounts.
I did it last year and it was like having a free dining plan. Of course always be careful with credit.:goodvibes

Question about your visa offer. I would live to find this deal. Is there a way to get the same one? Every one I find is for $100 reward.

I personally have NO idea how one gets on certain offer lists. I generally don't even look through the CC offers, We have our old stand-by's, and get SO many offers we just toss them, not sure why I opened it this time. The code is person/family specific, so it says.

Others may know how to find certain offers??

The offer we received was family specific, my DM received the same one this year. We are both registered on the Disneyland website, and have signed up for Disney Store offers too. I think its just luck of the draw, much like the ellusive pin codes.

Well we told the kids last night that we booked at trip to DLR. Of course we have created little Disney Addicts, so they were thrilled. The first thing DS9 said was "you better put your tennis shoes on, because we are going to RUN, not WALK straight to Carsland!" Ha, think he's a little excited to see the new Carsland?!

DH also told the kids we would be going to the Halloween Party and trick or treating...keep in mind, I didn't realize we had actually decided on this;)
So now I guess it's official that we will be attending the MHP! Ha!
