Trip advisor reviews

I noticed that as well.

I do wonder, however, what kind of person goes on TA and writes a "positive" review for WDW. Does it go something like this:
Just returned from Walt Disney World! It's a theme park in central Florida just outside of Orlando. Anyway, we had a great time! You WILL NOT believe it, but there is this giant castle that you can walk right up to! And, you can meet Disney characters at this theme park. I mean, you can shake their hand and get your picture taken...even give them a hug! In conclusion, I suggest that everyone tries out this theme park if you're in the central Florida area.

Now, negative reviews of world-famous places I expect....as misinformed as they may be at times. And hilarious.
I did notice that in some of the positive reviews, the goal seemed to be to correct some of the misinformation in the negative reviews, such as the misconception about paying extra to get FastPasses. I suspect that some positive reviews, especially the ones with corrections or clarifications right in the title, are by people similarly frustrated by the misinformation included in so many negative reviews.

I cannot stop laughing at this.

The more expensive resorts can get 5-6 fast passes a day.

I am still shocked at how many people think you pay for Fast Passes. My friend from work went to Disney a year or so ago and SWEARS they paid for fast passes. I tried to tell her that they did not pay for them. She insisted, finally I told her that if she paid for them, then she got ripped off by a scammer because they are free.

She probably is confusing Universal with Disney.

I tried to explain no they have been fully booked for 4-5 months, he then told me that I was the only one in the world that would even think to book an ADR 6 months out.

I'm sorry to laugh but that is really hysterical :rotfl::rotfl: Did you point him to the dis? I would've quietly sent him an email with a link here to one of the restaurant boards!

I agree with those that expressed disbelief ;) at the lack of research so many vacationers had done. I can understand people not knowing or thinking about boards such as these, but doesn't everyone know about vacation planning books like Frommers and the like? There are quite a few amazing Disney World books - the Birnbaum Official book, and the Unauthorized one, there's even one just for dining!

I used to read those books cover to cover years ago when I planned my trips. I mean, even before I had gone to Disney, I had always heard that going there was a mammoth undertaking and that one should not just show up willy-nilly but research it. It's not the sort of vacation you just show up and hit the beach - end of story.

I think what surprises me is the complete ignorance of all things Disney. Didn't you at least visit Disney's website prior to your trip? If you are staying onsite, didn't you receive 800 pieces of mail from Disney over explaining everything?? I know I do :thumbsup2

“This place is a joke! I wouldn't go for free!”

My husband and I took my 5 year old son here for his 5th birthday. Total charge was around $350.00. The food and drinks were way too pricy! I thought other parks were expensive, but they are cheap compared to this place! Over $12.00 for 3 small powerades?? Ridiculous. Most of the staff there were extremely rude. They were always rushing you constantly (hurry, hurry, and hurry!). Not a vacation in my book. Average wait on rides were about 60 minutes. Even Space Mountain was over 120 minutes! You can download an application that shows the wait times. Thought the fast pass would be cool. Well we could only book 3 rides at a time. If your favorite rides were booked, then you are out of luck! Crappy rides are usually what's available. If you book these rides, do it way in advance! It was so hot around the 4th! Also my son took off while my hubby and I were still eating in the cafe. He has a GPS bracelet tracker where he can be located if you call 911. I was going to call for them to locate him, and I was told by the staff not to call 911 due to it being private property and that they wouldn't help. My son was way over on the other side of the park where he took off by the train because he loves trains. Luckily the staff for the train noticed something was odd when he was by himself. What I recommend? Typhoon Lagoon. Free parking. Food not near as expensive. Loved the impression when you walked in the park and got free sun tan lotion. Loved the huge wave pool. We will go back there. I'm done with Magic Kingdom. Mickey Mouse, you should be a ashamed of yourself the way you treat and rob people! Oh and here is the kicker: The water pressure was very low when you wash your hands in all of the sinks in the bathrooms! I wouldn't go back to this place even if they gave me a free vacation.

UMMM why does her son have a gps location device that police track his whereabouts when he runs off? :scared1: Why does he run off? Why isn't he controlled? :furious:

Why did WDW not turn on the air outside?! How dare it be hot around the 4th?! :headache:

Fun entertaining game :surfweb: thanks OP!

It is funnier because she swears off Disney, they rob people! So go to Typhoon Lagoon because they dont......

:rotfl::rotfl:

She must not realize that TL is a DISNEY waterpark!!!

Is there a way to reply to someone's review? I found it funny and cute at first but it is now making me want to rip my hair out reading some of these. I need to correct the wrongness!!!

I was there the first year it opened. 1971. There was nothing there and no Tomorrowland it was so new. And was anxious to go back and see the difference. And what a difference. IT'S EVERYWHERE! 5 parks!

Can someone please tell me where to find this secret 5th park for my next visit?!

I use trip advisor to get an idea on things but I have gotten good at decoding the type of person who is writing the reviews, and the ones to ignore. Their is the person who did no planning, and it is someone else's fault things went wrong due to lack of planning. Their is the person who clearly has a bad attitude, and can't tell why customer service wasn't receptive to their 100 complaints. Oh, and my favorite the I stayed at a motel 6, and expected the Ritz so let me complain that it wasn't perfect.

Actually, I've heard of this sort of thing for kids who are autistic. However, it makes sense to me that it wouldn't be practical to call 911 at MK for a lost child, especially since CMs are trained in how to handle it.

No kidding. We booked a December trip back in February, and we've been receiving mail since then about our upcoming trip!

Good lord! Just reading the TA reviews gives me stress!!!

I'd find them funnier except for two things:

1) I've actually had encounters with these folks in the parks. In Splash Mountain: "Oh look, the rich people who get to cut in their special line". Reply: "I'm not rich, and you could have gotten a fast pass using your ticket instead of doing that line. Have fun!". And this was before FP+. :rolleyes:

2) It reminds me too much of my extended family. They think Disney works like a beach vacation. You just plan it at the last minute, wake up whenever, go to the parks at any time, and somehow enjoy it. Ugh... :headache:

I agree. I've heard of (but don't know any) autistic children who have the 911 GPS tracker but utilizing it inside of MK really isn't practical. What I really don't understand is how their son managed to make it to the other side of the park. Did they not notice almost instantly that their little guy ran off? I can maybe see it happening if a child was swept up in the crowd but to take off from a CS and not be found until he's covered half of the park?

Um, hello, Disney's World of Harry Potter, duh! :rotfl:

This thread prompted me to waste a couple of hours and go read some "trip advisor" reviews. Here's an awesome quote from a 1 star review:

"Never, ever will I go back again. I will stick to watching the movies. If walt was alive he would be turning in his grave."

:rotfl2::confused3:scratchin

Same here. I wasted some time reading the terrible reviews, and it was anything but a waste. Almost as much fun as riding Everest! :rotfl2:

Besides being uninformed about a lot of things, that reviewer doesn't even realize that Walt is cryonically frozen somewhere in Cinderella's Castle.;)
