Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

The kids food –

We had been to Pecos about 3 times before. Once on our very first trip and we didn't have such a good experience. It was crowded, the lines were long, and there was no place to sit. But several years later we gave it another try and we had a good experience. And this day was another one!!

DH got a burger and fries. And I got a taco salad. Then we headed up to the fixins bar!

Very good once again! The service is pretty slow at Pecos. Every time we order we have to wait on our food for a pretty long time. But other than that everything is great!


Rating: 8 out of 10
Total Bill:$17.98

Total Bill for Casey's: $9.57. Can't really rate it since I didn't get anything there, but I'm sure the kids give it a big fat 10!!


After we finished eating we headed out and DS13 and I thought about doing Splash Mtn. It was so hot out, it would have felt great! But as we stood there debating on if we wanted to wait the posted 25 minutes we saw the 25 minutes change to 90 right in front of our eyes!! And that was the end of Splash Mtn for us!

Then we took a peak over at BTMRR all closed up. So sad.

Then we moved on.

Everything we were walking by had very long waits and we knew we weren't going to get to do much more at this point. Guess we shouldn't have come to MK that day. But we were just going off of what we did in August/September when we went to MK on our last (Saturday) morning and there was no one there!! Obviously the time of year makes a huge difference.

I took a few more construction shots.

And pretty soon we found ourselves in Tomorrowland and the only thing that didn't have a wait was the TTA!

We took a ride on that and decided we would call it a day and get out of there. I thought about going back over to Adventureland and getting a Dole Whip, but I thought I'd get it somewhere else instead...


So we made our way to the castle and took one last look.

Said our good-byes to Big Blue.

Made our way down Main street and headed out.

Up Next: Where would I be getting my last Dole Whip of the trip???

That happened to us on our last trip. On our arrival day we wandered AK until EMH was really in full swing. I'm going to miss evening EMH at AK. Such a beautiful park at night!

We really enjoy Peco Bill's, but you're right on with the wait time. I usually devour my food once I get it!

Good thing we got there at RD. Everyone else came in around 10:00 and it was so crowded.

It really was a waste of time. It was frustrating. We aren't used to that with the times of year that we usually travel. I'm afraid that was probably our last May trip. Which stinks, we used to love that time of year.

So what the heck is the problem at Pecos??? Good grief. What in the world takes so long to make a burger and a taco salad? At least the food is good, so it makes it worth the wait!

Well a big THANK YOU for the update!

Even though I did get a little misty eyed at the thought of you having to say goodbye to Main Street at the end of it. It's always so sad to me to have that one last look over your shoulder at the castle. Usually minus Big Blue of course.

Thank goodness that monstrosity won't be there when we go in Dec.


Anywho....
yikes, the lines and waits were horrific! I bet it's b/c all the locals were heading out for the hot weather. ugh. Didn't they know they should've stayed home??

I am doing MK our arrival night and I have told the kids to not even ask if they can ride anything--- I know it will be miserable with people everywhere. Parade and Fireworks, that's what we're after! (And maybe a glimpse of some characters........... from behind a trashcan or two.)

Okay back on topic---
Pecos Bills! I haven't eaten there since discovering CHH. I always thought it was good, though! Your DH's burger looked really good.
Ohhh, and the corndog nuggets! I just told Drew all about them this morning as he was having his coffee and he was practically drooling into his cup! He said he's getting some for sure this year.

DANG!! I hate the last MK day!!! It's the worst!!!!! I didn't ever think about doing our airline stuff at Guest services!! What a treat!!! I love hanging around and seeing what goes on in there,..but I never have a real need....that would be a GREAT job to have! They are so nice and efficient,.the only couple of times we have went there were for random questions and once for a lost item...they get you in & out of there lickety split!!!
I am getting so pumped up for my Nov trip!!!!!!! These pics are making me hyper!!

Pecos Bills! I haven't eaten there since discovering CHH. I always thought it was good, though! Your DH's burger looked really good.

We've never eaten at Pecos Bills - we always end up at CHH too! I'm going to have to make Pecos a must-try this trip!

I've never noticed that problem at Pecos Bill's, but I don't know that I've paid close attention either. I like that they have the consoles where you can place your own order, instead of having to wait in line just to tell someone what you want. I suppose that may cause hold ups though, because they don't have cashiers they can have help put food out if necessary. I suppose they may also have a problem of people ordering things they don't want, and having to change things. We've ended up at Pecos on our last three trips, because I haven't convinced myself to try CHH yet (not a big fish eater) and the lines always look shorter there than at the Village Haus. The other options are usually nowhere near where we are.

To bad you weren't able to stay longer. It is always so hard for me to leave.
We like Pecos Bill's too. The great thing about that place is it's so huge inside.

I can't believe it was your last day, Shelly. It seems like you started your TR not that long ago! It seems only yesterday that you stepped out onto that sticky balcony at the BC. Once again, I've loved every minute of it your report. You make us all feel like we are there with you....well, almost! I especially love all the pics you include.

Spending your last day at the MK seems like the perfect way to end a trip. It's good that y'all were able to do several of your favorite attractions before the crowds got so big. It sure seems like there has been construction in Fantasy land forever! When in the world are they going to finish and get those ugly cranes out of there? Not to mention Big Blue. It just takes a little of the magic away seeing all that stuff. But I guess in the end it will be worth it.

Love the pics of your boys in the gift shop and with the stepsisters. So cute!! And I love how your DS10 is always ready to make a pin trade. He looks like a serious businessman!

So I think I know what your next stop will be, but I'm looking forward to hearing about it!

Please wish me luck down here over the next couple of days. That little storm that was headed for the Florida Panhandle now seems to be heading straight for us. Friday, I went to the store and bought batteries and a few tarps. DH would think I had lost my mind if I told him I bought tarps, but in the last hurricane there were so many people across the city with roof damage, and no tarps to be found in the stores. So I decided to beat the rush and put a few away just in case. You know how some ladies buy shoes and purses and clothes and hide them from their husbands? Well, I'm hiding tarps. Hopefully we won't need them and I'll just take them back after hurricane season. I sure hope it isn't a powerful storm and doesn't cause any loss of lives or major damage. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't lose power for so long like we did a few years ago.

No, I don't mind at all! But, you all are probably going to think I am crazy! We are going from 12/27-1/1. Our airfare was over $450, round trip, per person! We usually pay about $250 ish a person. And our package for the Poly, with park hoppers, theme park view, and deluxe DP was about $1000 more than our usual package for our family of five (I am not calculating in the cost of my two nieces).

It's crazy. I don't know what possessed me to book it. I mean, I know it's the busiest travel week of the year pretty much (after Thanksgiving), but we really had no choice with school for my girls and my nieces. Three out of the five girls going with us are in college. Plus, I would have missed almost a week of work if we went in January, so my boss will be much happier!

All in all, I just hope it's worth it! We are going to have a lot of resort time, and we are just going to go to the parks EARLY when they open (7-8AM ish) and just go with the flow!
