Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

Shopping at DTD is the BEST! I could spend hours in World of Disney and Once Upon a Christmas. So much stuff to look at! I'm like a 5 year old in those stores....I have to look at pretty much every single thing and touch stuff too. I'm nuts!

I do love that dress you were looking at. The odds are pretty low that it will be there next month. They change stuff over so fast sometimes! When we move someday, I'm totally doing a Mickey Mouse kitchen....I love all that kitchen stuff!!!!

We bought the same pink, green, blue and yellow Mickey cups on our last trip. We use them all the time.

We spent a lot of time in the Lego store too. My boys are just getting into Legos and were blown away by the store. They couldn't make up their minds either and it took them forever to decide what they wanted. In the end they each ended up with a set of Legos that they play with all the time.

i have gotten me and dd a couple of aprons from the kitchen dept and I have LOVED the Disney reusable straws!! they are the best!!

Your DS looks very pleased with his purchase, am not looking forward to spending ages in the Lego store myself in October! My son loves to race the cars on the track outside for hours on end!

T-Rex looks good. I had an ADR for there but cancelled it as I really want to try the Hoilday Sandwich at Earls.

I am so glad you finally got TP go up in the balloon  No such luck for us unless they bring it back.:sad2:

I love afternoons of shopping in DTD. There is always something you need there! ;)

The Lego store is pretty cool. My son Dimitri LOVES it too. I wish were had one closer to home. Why are the mini-figurines so expensive though? Cute little things but spendy.

Great update Shelly! I love the dress you were wearing and also the one you were thinking of buying. :thumbsup2

Me too! :cool1:

I wish we had a Lego Store closer to home too. Maybe he wouldn't take so long to make his purchases then! :rotfl: You are right - they sure are expensive. But he saves his $$ all year to spend it on them!

Thanks Kelli! :)

I know, I could look at Disney stuff all day! :goodvibes

You never know - that dress could still be there and maybe even on clearance by now!! :wizard:

We have used them all summer. I'm kind of bummed though - the white Mickey heads on them are starting to come off already. :sad2:

DS always takes forever to pick out Legos, but he is always happy with his purchases in the end!!::yes::

The Disney kitchen stuff is so neat! :)

Oh he sure was pleased!! ::yes::

Luckily DS has never really gotten into that race track thing outside the Lego store. It looks like fun though!

I just booked T-Rex for December! I wasn't going to go 2 trips in a row, but decided to anyway!!

What is the Holiday sandwich at Earls?

I'm so glad we got to do the hot air balloon too. I hope they bring it back so others can experience it too, but it's not looking good.

I interrupt this talk of Legos, Kitchenware, balloons and Holiday sandwiches to ask one question of all of y'all...

Let's just say you get pooped on by a Hummingbird-- yes that's right, a Hummingbird---- is it good luck or bad luck? And if you do get pooped on by a Hummingbird, how are you supposed to clean it up if you can't find it?:worried:

I know, I know.

Only me.:faint:

My vote would be good luck! I wouldn't know why it would be different to clean up than other poop...spray& wash the clothing, or take a shower if it's on YOU! LOL!!!! How in this WORLD did that happen girl!!!???? Do tell!

Jo if you can' find it how do you know it was poop and not pee? :rotfl2:

A couple of years ago I got pooped on by a bird, just a run of the mill sparrow mind you but as I was walking to go inside I stepped in dog poo and then the lil boy I was babysitting for pooped his diaper this all leads me to think bad luck!

Shelly the Holiday sandwich is suppose to be soooooooo good! It's Turkey & stuffing& cranberry sauce etc and they only make it from nov to Jan I think

Yep, some of ours are too. :(

That stinks. :headache:

That sounds like something DH would like!

After we made our very long journey back to the BC from DTD we went up to the room and DS tore into his new Lego's! We played and watched TV for a bit and the kids enjoyed their Goofy's Candy Co snacks! They so badly wanted to play the new video game they had just gotten at Once Upon a Toy store, but we didn't have a Wii in the room!!

Originally we were going to go to DHS this evening. DH and DS10 didn't feel like going. And I was good either way, but told DS13 I'd take him. He thought about it awhile and decided he didn't really need to go.

So we decided to head down to the SAB pool and hoped that it wouldn't be loud & crazy again. We found a few chairs in the shade. They weren't loungers, but we were just happy to find chairs that didn't have towels strung across them!

The kids headed right for the slide. Only to find a huge line. So they only went down it once.

The pool was pretty packed and loud. The kids wanted to swim in the whirlpool part but there was a big crowd in there.

We stayed for a bit and I got in with the kids for a short time. It was just way too crowded to really be able to enjoy yourself. So after awhile we went back up to the room and got showered and started to get ready to head out for dinner.

Since we had decided to skip DHS this evening, tonight's dinner plan was simple – we were getting a pizza on the BW!!

We walked over and ordered and they already had one hot & ready! Last time (on our BWI stay in 2010) we had to get a buzzer and wait about 10 minutes. So we were surprised!

All the tables & chairs on the BW were right out in the blazing sun and it was hot. So I thought we'd go back behind the BWI to the pool area and if it wasn't too crowded we'd grab a table in the shade there.

The BWI pool was nearly empty!! So we grabbed a table there and sat under a tree and enjoyed the peace and quiet. What a welcome difference from what we had been experiencing over at the BC pool.

The pizza was as good as we remembered it from last time!! Way better than that Disney pizza that is sold in the parks & foodcourts.

Rating: 10 out of 10
Total Bill: $19.16

We had such a nice time sitting there relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. Looking at that pool with no noise and nonsense and very few people in it made us wish we had stayed there instead.

The CM's had a nice little campfire going and were roasting marshmallows. This was new since we stayed at the BWI in 2010. Back then the campfire for the BWI/BWV guests was over at the YC/BC. The kids wanted to go over and join in, but they weren't sure if they were allowed since we weren't staying there. I told them to go ahead! We were staying at a Disney deluxe and the CM's would just be glad for the company! So they went over and had a great time.

In the meantime DH went over to the pool bar and got himself some kind of mixed drink. And we just sat there talking and relaxing for quite awhile. We finally felt like we were on vacation!!

We walked out on the BW when it was starting to get dark.

We found our favorite BW entertainer and watched him for a bit!

And eventually and reluctantly we made our way back over to our side of the lake. We messed around on the BC beach for awhile before we headed up to the room for the night.

Up Next: Our last full day

I CANNOT believe the difference in atmosphere from the YC/BC pool area to the BWI. Honestly----- SAB looks like my idea of vacation hell. I am so so so glad that you had the idea to walk over to BWI (and see Clarence--he's so cool!!) and finally feel that relaxation "aaaaah" moment that we all so desperately want and need and dream about on vacation.

The boys looked so cute and happy roasting their marshmallows. I'm sure it was fine that they went and did it-- it looked like no one else was interested. :(

That pizza looked wonderful too--- good to know it was just as good as last time! I love that pizza box!!! So adorable!

Your landscape pic of the BW area is gorgeous--- you could use that for a ticker pic in the future!! ::yes::

So sad your last day is coming up-----

I don't remember SAB being that crowded I guess we were lucky.
BWI did look much more relaxing!!:thumbsup2 That pizza did look good! The box was cute too. We never ordered pizza there before... good to know.
I think I'd like to stay at BWI next time too.
We LOVE the BW at night with the performers...He's our favorite too!!! I wish I could think of his name but can't!!

What a nice way to wrap up the evening! Too bad about SAB. It just seems so chaotic! When we stayed at BC it was July and it was so warm in the pool it just wasn't refreshing! The one afternoon we did tie dye shirts the sweat was dripping in my eyes! Otherwise they would close the pool in the afternoon because of storms. The best part for us was the little slide area across the path. My kids were good with that and it wasn't as busy.

Boardwalk pizza looks good!! I might have to try that! We really like Clarence too (I didn't know that was his name - thanks Jo!). I bet you wished you could pool hop to BW, don't you!?

I just hate that the SAB area was like that your whole trip!! It definitely has to be the time of year!! Like I said before, we hardly ever have other people there..and never to that extent!!! But, we are off peak so that must be why...Glad you finally got to relax down at the BW though!!!
And dang that pizza looks good! I am starving and it made me hungrier! LOL!

What a bummer that Stormalong Bay was so busy again! It sure seems like ya'll had some bad luck with it being so crowded. Aren't you glad that ya'll decided to order the pizza on the Boardwalk and then snag a table at a non-crowded sitting area. From the pictures, I can certainly understand how you felt more relaxed at BWI than at YBC.

The pool being that crowded would frustrate me too, but I guess one of the main reasons people stay at the BC/YC is for the pool. It's definitely an appealing feature.
Unfortunately, for me, DH would probably never agree to stay at the BWI, because of the clown slide. If I did somehow trick him into staying there, he probably wouldn't go in the pool.
I can't wait to hear about your stay at the Poly!
