tried renting POLY DVC points for marathon weekend- not available

I tried renting DVC points for Poly marathon weekend 2017. There was only Old Key West or Saratoga Springs avail. But I just logged into WDW website and looked up Poly reservations for the same weekend...and DVC standard studio comes up as available? Can someone explain why they would be available for direct thru disney rentals but not thru DVC?

Separate inventory, not all DVC rooms are available to DVC members. Another best kept secret!

The Poly is not selling very well, thus many of the units are NOT available for DVC on points. Only those units that have be sold can be used on points.

38% of the Poly villas are not yet a part of the DVC condo association, and are exclusively booked by Disney Resort Booking. They cannot be booked with points.

Your broker was not lying when they said Poly could not be booked on DVC points for marathon weekend; you're within 7 months for marathon and I'm frankly surprised SSR and OKW had full availability. DVC rental tends to require booking in the 11-7 month window during high demand periods, like any runDisney event.

I inquired on the rental about a month ago. I have since heard that there is no availability.

There really isn't, I can assure you of that. Availability at 7 months tends to go to zero within hours after 8AM of the 7 month window.

Brokers rarely have home resort points to book Poly before the 7 month window, and work best for bookings that do not require an owner to be online at 7:55AM ready to hit the trigger.

If you're going to participate in the marathon weekend, Poly is not necessarily better for the races than OKW or SSR. FWIW.

If you just *want* Poly, then that's another thing altogether.

You absolutely could NOT make me stay at OKW for marathon weekend again... We stayed there two years ago for Dopey Challenge and spent over an hour on the bus from OKW to the start line due to traffic on both the 1/2 an full marathon. We stayed at Poly last year and it was a breeze, it was a very short walk to the TTC and direct monorail to EPCOT. We also stayed at BLT three years ago, and are booked for this coming January too and it was almost as easy as Poly. WLV is also not too bad either.

If anyone is doing anything lower than the half, though, they canNOT rely on the monorail for transportation to the start. (and if they are a fast runner, you can't rely on it for transportation from the start, either) They aren't running it for 5K or 10K recently. Not for princess and I think I read the same for Dark Side. Not sure about this year's marathon weekend.

Sounds like my Poly or BLT waitlist for January's marathon weekend is highly unlikely to come through
