Yesterday morning I woke up early and I thought I'd go check out the sunrise at the beach. Suprisingly since we've moved here in Feb this is the first time I've gone across the street to see the beach. This was my first attempt to take photos of a sunrise, so here are a few photos I took yesterday. Tips/Hints appreciated.

I Love this last picture of the sand and fence. Excellent light in that one! Well done!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

When I've done sunrise or sunset pics I use a tripod and usually use an exposure somewhere between 1/3th of sec and 3 seconds. As the sun comes up you use a shorter time. A lot of it depends on the cloud formation and what kind of color the sun decides to give us. Some days are better than others. You just never know. Keep shooting!

tfs!
i love the 5th photo..and the last one of the fence!
very nice!

Once you get into photography, you start looking at light differently. I cant count the number of times I've been driving home from work around sunset time and regretted not having my camera.

Nice shots

Here's the sunset I got yesterday

Aboard a North Carolina DOT ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport. I should have moved just a millimeter or two to the right and maybe have avoided the lens flare in the clouds on the left

Thanks all. I thought to myself I can't believe that since Feb we've lived across the street from the ocean and I've got the river in the backyard and I've never gone to either to take some photos. I plan on trying again next week when we get back from the world. Thanks for the tips/hints as well.

I also really liked the fence shot, it was very foggy out and I was impressed with what I got considering you couldn't see too far at all.

Nice work, I particularly like the fifth one down. I gotta get up early one day so I can catch a sunrise!

When you're taking sunset or sunrise photos, what do you set the white balance at?

Auto.

I'm most likely going to be adjusting the color in Photoshop later anyway.
