Trick-Or-Treat & Birthday Sweets! Oct 2013 PTR *NEW* 11/4 TR Link Posted!

Sounds like you had a great time at the Hanson concert! I never knew they did the walk before all their shows, that is a pretty cool way to raise money.

Haha, it seems Hanson is almost as popular as Disney around here. I really do have to give these guys a TON of credit. MMM Bop was such a fad style song that they could have easily faded away, but I give them major props for still recording and performing. Even back in the early days I could tell they were real musicians and not manufactured and I have a LOAD of respect for that.

Glad you had a great time!

So, in my efforts to prepare for my first trip to Disney with a baby, I've been reading DISers TRs. I went back and read yours, and I have to say, it was really good! I LOVED the signatures on the Vinyl, and it was great seeing how much fun Paxton had at his first CP breakfast! Your report definitely gave me an idea on what to expect.:goodvibes

I think this is EXACTLY what I will need!! Thanks so much! I'll have to go run out and get one of those bun forms so I can start practicing. My hair is kind of thick, so I will probably need a LOT of pins. :rotfl: But I think with the length I usually cut my hair to, the rolling method won't work, so this should be perfect.

as a highland dancer who has to wear her hair in a bun for competitions and performances, I pride myself on my bun knowledge! Very happy to help you find a workable solution. The bun forms run about $5 and come in light, medium & dark - you should be able to pick one up at Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply, Wal-Mart, Target, CVS or Walgreens among other common stores. A package of the open bobby pins will run you about $1 or so and also come in colors to blend with your hair. It's really lightweight, you honestly probably won't even notice that it's there - much lighter than the sock bun.

I'm going for a college newspaper conference, but we should have evenings to tour the city. I would love to see a plantation! My friend really wants to do a ghost tour but that's not my thing...I'm very excited to just be there though!

It's such a fun city, so much to do besides just Bourbon St.! Now that we live farther away, DH and I like to go play tourist for a weekend sometimes. A friend visited me from California a few years ago, and I had a BLAST taking her around to the highlights and pretending to be a tourist myself. I hope you have a great time!

It was an incredible night! They started doing the walks on the '07 tour I believe to promote Toms Shoes. Now they have you sign in for the walk and check off which cause is most important to you (clean water, education, medical supplies, etc). Whichever cause for each walk gets the most support, they donate $1 per person that walked to that cause.

:lmao: It might just be Lia and me, though, in all honesty. I knew her from the online Hanson community way back when, so I was excited to find her on these boards (I might have even first looked here because she mentioned them at one point?). :thumbsup2 Now that Mmmbop is farther in the past, it is nice to see them getting more respect.

Thanks so much! Reading TR's was what made me more confident in taking a 1 year old to Disney World, and I'm SO GLAD we did! I strongly feel that as moms (and dads of course) we can learn so much from each others Disney mistakes. :rotfl:

I just went and got mine at Walgreens this morning! I can't wait to try it out. It came with a few of the open bobby pins in the kit, and I have some regular ones that I will try to use as the "in between" pins. If they don't work I'll have time to go pick up some more open ones. Thanks so much again for the suggestion!

So with now LESS THAN A MONTH to go before our trip (:woohoo::banana::yay:) a couple of pretty exciting packages have made their way to our house! Friday, I got my very first order of Magical Ribbons in the mail! They are handmade hair bows made by a girl named Hayley, and they are absolutely adorable. Most are themed after different characters and attractions, and some are even made out of park maps! I first read about them on Jess' TR from last October and had to check them out. It was so hard to choose because there are SO many adorable ones to choose from, but ultimately I went with 5 minis.

I got Mickey Mouse, Rapunzel, Sulley, Donald Duck, and Minnie Mouse. I went with those because I have shirts to go with each one to wear in the parks! I am not a bow-wearer by any means, which is why I mostly went with the minis instead of full sized bows. I have tried them out a few different ways to see which works best!

A few weeks ago, I won a free t-shirt from a favorite site of mine, Stitcheroos, that makes embroidered kids clothing. I have gotten all of DS's birthday party shirts made from there. A couple times a week, they choose a name at random of people who have liked their posts and sent them a free t-shirt, and I was shocked a few weeks ago to be scrolling through my Facebook feed and see my name as a winner! You don't get to pick the design though, just the name that goes on it. It came in the mail today, and I think we got a pretty good one.

I just wish DS was a little more excited about Monsters Inc. like his daddy & I are. :rotfl: I got it in a 4T so it's a little big but I think we will take it to WDW with us next month anyway. The only way I can get him to wear it might be having a limited amount of shirts to choose from instead of a whole closet full!

And thanks to abbybeth's excellent advice, I'm now the proud owner of one of these babies.

It will definitely take a little practice, but I'm hoping it will help me achieve a perfect Tinkerbell bun for our MNSSHP!

Speaking of Halloween costumes, DH might be in for a change of plans, since DS now says anytime you ask that he wants Daddy to be Wendy for Halloween. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: While I think that would be even more hilarious than Michael, I DEFINITELY know DH is not going for that one. :rotfl: Still working on convincing him to be Michael, though! :rolleyes1

And last but certainly not least, we are definitely adding a day to our tickets and hitting a park on departure day!! :dance3: I sent out a text to everyone we are traveling with to see who would be interested in putting in for pre-purchasing a Photopass CD, thinking it would probably just be us going in with my parents. My sister doesn't exactly have a ton of money, and DH's mom had said they may not opt in this year. But instead, everyone was game, so the CD will only cost us $30! That kind of put DH "over the edge" so to speak of agreeing to add a park day. While I was kind of looking forward to finally checking out the Boardwalk and maybe eating at Beaches & Cream for the first time, I am WAAAAAAY happier to be spending our last day at Magic Kingdom instead!

Hopefully I will have time to update with the next day's plans later this week. :goodvibes

Great purchases lady! I never thought to get cute bows for myself. Can't wait to see them on you :) so excited that you won that shirt! Alex LOVES monsters! :) yay for less than a month :) hope y'all have better weather than we did. It was so hot and humid but we still had a great time minus the villains event.

I love the bows! I buy from MickeyWaffles, just because every time I think to order from Magical Ribbons she has a long waiting period, but those are beautiful. The Sulley one is so cute!

I loveeeee Mike Wasowski, so I am a big fan of that shirt. Congrats on winning!

Yay for a last park day! Finishing at the Magic Kingdom is the only way to do it, in my humble opinion.

I love Magical Ribbons! I have some minis and am waiting on a order of a few full sized bows to arrive. I can't wait until I get a chance to wear them in the parks!

I haven't been on the DIS in a while and haven't commented on your PTR in a long time, but I'm all caught up now! I can't believe how close your trip is & I bet y'all are super excited! Your plans all sound great and hopefully the parks won't be too crowded!

I'll actually be in WDW during your trip because I'm down here on the CP, so if you see a CM named Emily at Princess Fairytale Hall, Mickey's Philharmagic, or the Carrousel, please feel free to say hi! ;)

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Come on... be honest. You've been working on him to get him to say that, haven't you? :rotfl2:

And last but certainly not least, we are definitely adding a day to our tickets and hitting a park on departure day!!
:thumbsup2 Great news!

I love the bows and the fact that you will be matching them with your shirts!!

That's awesome that you won a shirt, it's very cute!

And YAY for getting to go to a park on departure day and saving money on PP!!

I'm a big fan of making the most of departure days! For the last three trips, I've always booked for us to leave on the last flight available which usually takes off sometime around 6:30pm. This way we can have a pretty full day at the park before heading out to the airport! Makes it a little easier to say goodbye to WDW. :thumbsup2

Yay! You found a bun form :) trust me, the learning curve is not too bad. One or two practice runs and you'll be all set!

:lmao: at cross-dressing Wendy-Daddy! That is beyond funny!

Congrats on the shirt win - fun things are always better then they don't cost anything extra. Nice choices on the bows too. I have a few more to make before we leave myself ... I'm really down to the wire at this point. :faint:

Wow, those bows are really cute.

And :woohoo: for adding an extra park day. I wholeheartedly support this decision. I totally love also being able to share a PP CD. $30 makes it a no brainer.

I debated the bows for a long time because I'm definitely not a bow-wearer in real life, but I figured I could go all out while in WDW!

Last year, by the end of the month the humidity had broken and that made a HUGE difference. Although it was still hot during the day, we didn't feel like we were suffocating or dripping in sweat by 8 am. Plus it actually cooled down at night. So I'm really keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for some of the same weather this year! I would love the visit in September for the crowds, but I just don't think I could handle a week of that weather. :scared: DH and I were watching a lot of the Villains even drama unfold on Twitter and I thought of y'all. Sounds like it was a hot mess!!!

I have never checked out MickeyWaffles, I'll have to google. :goodvibes I was worried I might not get my Magical Ribbons in time, so I was more than a little excited when I did!

Thanks! I was worried we might get something DS has no interest in like Diego or Yo Gabba Gabba, so getting Mike was a nice surprise.

I totally agree!! It kills me to walk under that railroad station for the last time (especially in October when it says See Ya Real Soon :sad::sad: Can you say SOBFEST?!) but ending anywhere else just wouldn't feel "right" to me.

All of them are so cute, I had a hard time choosing! I ended up going with the minis because I could get more for my money. But I really adore a lot of the full sized bows as well. Maybe next trip...

Oh my gosh, can't even tell you how excited now that it is starting to feel really close! I'm hoping for low crowds, but I know we can navigate it even if it's a little more crowded than we expect. But thanks for the well wishes. :goodvibes

That's so awesome that you are doing your CP! We are spending a lot of time in MK, especially the 24th for his birthday, so I will absolutely be on the lookout for you, but if you see us first, say hi! :wave2:

That is what we have always done too, but it was so easy the last couple trips with AP's so we thought nothing of going to the parks on arrival and departure day. This year since we went with 5 day tickets, I think that was what had DH hesitating. But it really doesn't cost much to upgrade to 6 days, and we will have plenty of time since our flight is not until 5 pm. You are definitely right, leaving straight from a park makes it easier to say goodbye! I was already stressing about having to "say goodbye" Tuesday night and spend almost an entire day Wednesday doing "other" stuff when all I really wanted to do was be in MK!

Totally :)

That sounds like nice weather :) the humidity was only insane the first couple of days. The day we had our pics taken in Epcot omg! I thought I was going to die!!!!! We started at 7:45am and I was dripping with sweat by the end. I started off in white jeans and wound up in my shorts for the day by the end of the shoot. I had other blue jeans to wear for the pics but I just couldn't bring myself to put them on. I sure hope the pics turn out ok.

Ugh yeah the villain event was a nightmare. We only visited DHS once after that and it was only for a few hours. We didn't even get to do characterpalooza or meet buss and woody or a bunch of other characters cause we were so turned off by the villain event. There were over 55k ppl there and they ran out of food!!!! :-O it took us an hour to get back to our resort in the traffic the event created.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Come on... be honest. You've been working on him to get him to say that, haven't you? :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 Great news!

I REALLY wish I could take credit for that one, but it was entirely DS! :lmao: I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my life as I did the first time he said it!

I love the bows and the fact that you will be matching them with your shirts!!

That's awesome that you won a shirt, it's very cute!

And YAY for getting to go to a park on departure day and saving money on PP!!

Thanks! I don't ever usually "plan" outfits for WDW, but I'm excited to be able to pair the bows with shirts I have.

I am really excited about more park time! :woohoo: I feel like DH would have caved eventually, but getting to split the Photopass 4 ways instead of just 2 like we were planning helped get him there a little sooner. :thumbsup2

Yay! You found a bun form :) trust me, the learning curve is not too bad. One or two practice runs and you'll be all set!

I almost didn't find it because I was looking all over in the section with hairbrushes and ponytail holders, but I thought to look in the beauty section as I was about to just leave, and lo & behold!

:lmao: I about died laughing when DS first said he wanted Daddy to be Wendy! No telling where that came from, but the mental image was so hilarious! DH's face was pretty hilarious when I told him about it too. :rotfl2:

Absolutely! The shirts from their site are so adorable, but pretty pricey for a t-shirt since we don't usually spend that much on DS's clothes (he is a rough & tumble little boy, after all). So getting one totally for free was really exciting! And thanks, I think I got ones that will be perfect for me. Hopefully you can get all your bow making done. Your trip is SO SOON!!!

Wow, those bows are really cute.

And :woohoo: for adding an extra park day. I wholeheartedly support this decision. I totally love also being able to share a PP CD. $30 makes it a no brainer.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I was pretty bummed at the idea of not doing a park on departure day. Leaving straight from Downtown Disney is just not the note to end a Disney trip on, in my opinion!! :rotfl: And $30 for Photopass is icing on the cake. :thumbsup2

That stinks that you are missing Hanson by a few days in Disney but it sounds like the concert more than made up for that! I love the picture of you and Paxton in your costumes! I already have a dress perfect for Tinkerbell so when we do the MNSSHP in a few years we will probably be doing the same theme as you :thumbsup2

Love Paxton's new shirt. That is just too cute!

And Yay :cool1: for adding another day to your ticket!
