Do you think dogs should be allowed in guests' rooms?

I recently lost my precious girl. However, if Disney had had this policy when I had her, I might have upgraded to POR while I have always stayed at POP. I thought and hoped that something like this was in the works when I saw Disney moving away from carpeted rooms.

I truly don't understand the attitude of Disney not notifying people who have reservations sooner. I think the time when Disney has cared about customer service has long past and it makes me sad and angry. As a family who has been going to Disney for a very long time I know the customer service has been eroding over the years and it seems that they really don't care because they know people will still continue to stay at the resorts no matter what they do.That being said I do understand that they want to provide a place for people who want to bring their dogs, so build a pet friendly resort. They certainly have the property and the money to do so!

Yes and yes.

How do you know that? I mean, I know that Disney chat CMs aren't the most trustworthy of sources, but there is at least one stating the opposite. I'm just not sure we can really know a whole lot for certain at this point...hence a 43 page thread on the subject.

I don't think they are going to allow guests with dogs to stay in any room at the resort. They really are going to keep the dog friendly rooms to one area (I know this for sure at YC). Having said that, what IS going to happen is say they have 10-20 dog friendly rooms unoccupied and high demand for rooms then they are going to be assigned to guests without dogs. They are not going to let them sit empty. Even if dog friendly rooms were a bookable category guests without dogs could still be assigned to one. We've been given a King room and an accessible room without booking one. That is what's going to happen here. We're probably saying the same thing, but I just wanted to clarify that they are not planning on letting guests with dogs to stay in any room.
I think I'm correct in saying that at FW that they do put Guests with dogs in 'dog-free' loops when there's no other availability, so there's no guarantee there and, as you, it could well work the other way with hotel rooms, as well.
This is exactly why we will not ever book any of the dog friendly hotels at Disney. There really is no way to know if there have been dogs staying in your room before you get there, other than staying at a resort where they are not allowed at all. So if you have a health issue (allergy w/problems breathing)
Can't take a chance with it.

I don’t trust any of them. they should all be giving the same answers if they are making such a huge change to the resorts!

I totally agree with this. The Chat Rep told me that guests with dogs WOULD be allowed on the club level floor at YC. If I was an actual traveler with a dog (instead of someone who was just trying to get some intel) I may have booked a room and package and made some very expensive decisions based on potentially inaccurate information.

It's a shame that the policy isn't clear so that people can make decisions.

Two conversations with CMs, two COMPLETELY different answers......

I just posted this is the Resort Club Level Thread but an putting it here too just as an fyi:

So, I just did an online chat session with Disney. Thought you all might be interested in the conversation. Here it is, exactly word-for-word:

Me: I have a question about the new dog-friendly policy at the Yacht Club Resort. If I book a club level room, will I be allowed to bring a dog?

Disney Rep: it will take me a moment to research your answer to your question. I will be right back!

Me: Thank you!

Disney Rep: Yes, all rooms are said to be available.

Me: So, I would still be placed on the regular club level floor (5th floor)? Also, can I book any room category on club level (standard view, garden view, or water view)?

Disney Rep: Yes, depending on the resorts club level usually has better views but all apply
(*Note: I typed the above response exactly as the Disney rep wrote it. Very odd wording, but I think the gist is that I can book any room category on club level)

Me: I am assuming dogs are not allowed in the club lounge?

Disney Rep: Yes they are only allowed in your room

Me: Thank you for answering my questions

Disney Rep: You're welcome. Have a magical day.

So, there you have it. Take it with a grain of salt...we all know that info can vary greatly from Disney rep to Disney rep.

For the record, I am very against allowing dogs (other than service dogs) at any resort. I was hoping that booking a club level reservation would prevent us from getting a room that had previously been occupied by someone else's pet. Guess not.

How many people who book CL and bring a dog will be taking table scraps from the lounge back to the room for their dog to eat? haha!

MUCH different than my conversation with Disney below. The CM I spoke with read to me the official release from a Disney.

AND....

Oh My, Folks! Relax!!!!!

Since everyone already has jumped to conclusions, pre-judged, etc.....

I CALLED the number provided in OFFICIAL announcement and a CM read the OFFICIAL transcript of the release. So easy to do.

-Designated Rooms ONLY in designated section of specific resorts ONLY
-Designated walking paths ONLY
-MUST be LEASHED at all times
-NO Public spaces
-NO roaming around resorts
-NO Restaurants
-NO Bars
-NO Pools
-Owners MUST present vaccination documentation
-Resorts were chosen based on their size and layout.

My guess, dear DISsers, is you probably could enjoy your Disney vacation within the bubble everyone has grown to love and will never see the furry creatures in their own little corner of the World.

Have a Magical Day!:dog:pixiedust:

These banks of rooms will undoubtly be in a very small section of the resort, most likely in room locations most guests would March directly back to the front desk demanding to be moved.

With
Over 2,000 rooms at POR, just under 2,000 rooms at AoA and the layout of YC, I seriously doubt you would ever see the furry creatures. Dogs have (always?) been allowed in the campground, now, they will be allowed in specifically designated cabins.
This "perk" applies to a very SMALL and SPECIFIC demographic, and obviously does not include most posters here. However, this demographic still does exist. Sorry.

It's my best friend's foster kiddos...we're just helping foot the bill, but I will pass along your comment. she's my hero.

Please do. I think it’s amazing to be so selfless. It’s wonderful that you are helping them to have this experience too x

I know this is going to sound like I'm defending this awful decision but I assure you I'm not. There's never been a way to know if there's been dogs staying in your room before you arrive. At least now you'll know the odds are good a dog's been in your room if you get one in that area. And you can get that rectified before stepping foot in the room.

That's true, I agree. It was so slight before the odds were slim to none. For peace of mind, I will avoid the issue and not book at those resorts.

I think it might be an unpleasant situation if a CL guest with a dog finds they are only are allowed "access". They will have likely booked a room on the CL floor, and may expect to be given one.
Disney is very slow to change/correct specific room information on the website. That may only add to the confusion.

If people are upgrading to avoid the dogs on their already planned trips, that will surely be noted, and it won't be a negative as far as WDW is concerned. If people cancel or go to Value's they might feel differently..

Are people who are staying at the Yacht club going to be walking their dogs on the boardwalk?
I will need to prepare my DS10, he has generalized anxiety disorder and is afraid of dogs. We are staying at the Boardwalk in November.

They are not supposed to. Now how, or whether, WDW enforces this will have to wait until guests actually start bringing their dogs.

Thanks! Hopefully, people will report what they see so I will know how to prepare him.

Do they enforce any of their other rules????? Nope, might upset a high paying guest!! :(

I don't mind having dog-friendly rooms, even though we'll leave our fur baby home. I'm on vacation and that includes being on vacation from the dog. I do think they should have specific rooms set aside for dogs and their owners to alleviate any subsequent allergy issues for future guests.

I have really bad allergies from some dogs. Talking to customer service they told me that I'd have to make a "special request" (that could not be guaranteed), that I would be put into a dog free room. I explained again this was due to allergies, and they again told me they could not guarantee my "special request", but I could talk to the front desk upon my arrival in December... not really sure where I go from here? It's not like I'm requesting a full size fridge be added to the room.. very disappointed for the first time with Disney's lack of concern and customer service.
This is exactly what worries me so much about what I have read so far. I have stayed at 2 of the pet friendly hotels at Universal and when I called to make this same request was told no problem and was guaranteed a pet free room. (Yes I do know at some point a service animal could have stayed in my room, but I have never had an issue when I requested a pet free room).
