Trial Club Level Fastpass+ Purchase Program Planning & Discussion

Thanks for the review, @mickeyluv'r! The Dolphin sounds great! Two questions...is there anything you would do differently now that you tried it in terms of timing, order, or anything? And did you try to duplicate any attraction? I'm one of the ones who was told by DSS that it would mess up the system (!) and I would lose all my FPs if I duplicate, so I'm looking for first-hand reports! It looks like @Chef Louis didn't have any issues, but just curious! Thanks!

Still, the standby lines were pretty crazy! Multiple times we had a FP for an attraction when the posted standby wait was over 3hours. I'd never wait 3 hours for an attraction, and normally - when we see the parks are THAT crowded- we'd just take a break, then return later. Our FP kept us in the park longer. Ours were structured approximately one per hour from 8am until 3:15pm each day. If we hadn't had FP until 3:15pm though, we probably would have left the parks by 2pm each day, napped, then returned to take better advantage of the late night hours. We managed afternoon breaks, but left about 4pm and returned for 9pm fireworks. RE-entering MK at 8:30 gave us JUST enough time, because the park was SO crowded. It was a madhouse trying to get around the Main St./ MK hub area. Several CM's told us we couldn't walk to the area by Casey's: we had to insist that we had reserved seating to get past them. Even when we said we had reserved seating, some of the crowd control CM's didn't appear to know what we were ware talking about.

DO make sure you know approximately where the MK reserved seating for HEA is located- it is over by Casey's!

The buffet at Fresh was pretty good. It was actually somewhat similar to CL. You have a choice of continental/cold buffet, which is approx. = to most WDW CL offerings. Full/ hot buffet includes eggs to order, MICKEY waffles, MICKEY pancakes, 4 breakfast meats, hot potatoes, etc. I think full buffet was $26/adult+$16/kids. I think the cold buffet was $18/$8. Two mornings we arrived about 7am, and the place was empty. The third day - also Easter weekend- we arrived more like 10am, and the place was full. We would have dined at Garden Grove the last morning, but it had a wait. Fresh was full, but we were seated right away.

The Dolphin is very nice. The Dolphin has concierge staff, but we didn't really need to go to them for anything, so we didn't ever actually talk to them. Maybe they'd have given us additional information or a print out.

My other suggestion- We were overall quite happy that we didn't have any ADR's this trip. I could see maybe making a few, but the 6 FP already locked us into a pretty solid schedule most of the day. We were free to eat when we wanted and our meals were relatively quick! If you are pairing this service with ADR's, I suggest leaving a fat time buffer.

Happy to answer any questions!
Oh wow - how timely. We just booked our CL qualifying suite at Dolphin and I had my first DSS phone call yesterday. So glad to hear it all worked out - especially being so new and especially during such a busy time. Sounds like you had a great trip!!!!!!!! Thanks for the food review at Dolphin. Heading there for a quick trip end of April!

If I only book 2 out of 4 people with my extra FP, will they book all 4 people’s regular FP for that day?

Do you mean you are only purchasing the “Extra” program for 2 people?

The DSS CM may book your regular FPs for your group of 4, but, they probably won’t. Disney removed “Change Party” from the MDX FP area.

90 for the regular FPs and then Modify if needed. Some CL Guests have reported the DSS CM will book regular FPs for the “non-Extra” park days...but those have been rare Reports.
They booked all 6 of mine when I called at 90 days.

Sorry. Just read your post again. My answer doesn' make sense.
It seems like it depends on the CM helping you. :-/

I'd love to hear how today goes for you. I wonder if the "doubling up" in the system would behave differently if the duplicate FP is one of your original three and one of your paid CL extras, instead of an extra (4th, 5th) FP and a paid CL extra FP.

I also wonder if it matters which of the "doubled" FP you use first.

The scenario that was described as a problem was using a normal (first three) FP and then the system losing all three of the paid FPs. You used your paid CL extra FP first and it kept your 5th FP (bonus from original FPs). Could it remove your paid CL FPs if you used the "free" one first?
Successful day yesterday. We rope dropped HS and closed up Epcot.
  • FP+ TOT 9:10am
  • FP+ Toy Story 10:10
  • FP+ Star Tours 11:10
  • Pulled FP for Living with land 12:40-stand by was 90 minutes when we got there
  • Pulled FP for FEA at 7:20- already had one for later on my extras, only reason I grabbed it.
  • Extra FP Soarin 2:00
  • Extra FP Test Track 3:00
  • Extra FP FEA 5:00- After riding the other FP+ FEA was still active on my MDE
  • Pulled FP for Test Track 7:20 and dropped FEA
  • Watched Illumatinons from Germany, got there about 20 minutes before 9. Once it started there were about 20 people there, one bench and 2 cocktail tables. Zero wind view was good.

This is the area about 15 minutes after illuminations.

Tomorrow is Animal Kingdom and we do have FOP twice, I feel confident that there will be no issues.

Well, I talked myself back into the CL Fastpasses and booked this morning.:) For those also grappling with whether they find value in it, my mind changed because (1) I had been following threads about the difficulty getting FOP FP in June until 60+4 and my AK days are at 60+1 and 60+3 (and hard to switch due to ADRs); (2) my DS grew and (knock on wood!) will be able to ride the 40 inch rides, which made FPs more important; and (3) since we're parkhopping after a midday break, I wanted to be able to get decent FPs in the evening. I continue to think that for families with young children that can't ride many of the rides, and might not be able to stay up until the nighttime shows, the value is more questionable (at least until Toy Story Land, etc. open).

In any event, my call went smoothly and took about 30 minutes. We started with nighttime shows, since the CM wanted to make sure there was "space" left, which made me think it's possible they run out of reserved spots. The biggest hiccup was that the CM was not able to book any of my morning FPs before 9:20/9:25 a.m. (and I was looking for 9:00). It made it a little tougher to get everything scheduled at the times I wanted since I had to bump everything back. It's strange that she wasn't able to see anything before 9:20/9:25, because when I went on MDE right after the call, I was able to modify the regular FPs earlier to the schedule I had intended.

I booked my regular three FPs first in our morning park (AK two days, HS one day). On our AK mornings, I also booked another CL FP as our fourth so I could get both Pandora rides. I then booked the other two as Tier 1 FPs in Epcot after 5:45 p.m. two of the days, so I could add on another regular FP at that park beforehand if we wanted but would have my Tier 1s set for after dinner. (I booked three MK evening FPs for our HS day.) I'll note that TSM was not an option on June 14, and there were lots of good FOP times left on June 11 (though the booking window is getting close for that day).

I'll also note that the CM mentioned that I wouldn't be able to modify my regular FPs until my 60 day mark next week. But, as mentioned above, I was able to do so no problem right after the call.

Still not sure if it's worth $639 for the four of us, but it's a great feeling to have everything locked in at two parks per day!! The CM at DSS said this program was being very well utilized for the summer months, so I have a feeling it will be around for a while.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to report back as we figure this out together! :)

Also, FYI, the CM added notes to my MDE itinerary explaining the logistics of the nighttime viewing locations. Here are the notes for HEA, Illuminations, and Fantasmic:

HEA: Please check in under the name **** at least 15 minutes early at the West Lawn in front of Cinderella's Castle.
Fantasmic: Please check in at least 15 minutes early at the FastPass+ entrance under the name ****.
Illuminations: Please check in by the Germany Pavilion at least 15 minutes prior under the name ****.

And from the email I received after the call:

If you have any questions or would like to modify [CL FPs or nighttime viewing], please contact us at 407-939-7777 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. During your stay, if you need to contact us regarding same-day modifications after 5:00 PM, please call 407-939-1827.

Grr- DISbards aren't working right for me. I've re-typed this 3 times!

1. The only duplicate we tried was when we were given a use anytime open FP.
2. We thought our timing worked well for us. We were happy we didn't have any ADR's.

Maybe the only thing we might have changed is that I would have been nice to eat at Garden Grove one morning. We didn't do it the first 2 days, because we were tight on time. I should have known we wouldn't be up early on our last morning.

We greatly appreciated having a FP when the lines were at their afternoon peaks. The standby for Splash looked particularly brutal!

We also saw more VIP guides than we have ever seen before!

At Picabu- for dinner- we mostly went with the Mexican options, and they were tasty. Tastier than they initially looked. The Fountain burger was good, and server was nice, but timing was a tad slow considering it was around 4:45pm. Chili was just so-so. Ice cream was decent enough. It wasn't exceptional, but good. They DO serve both hard (about 10 flavors) and soft ice cream (vanilla, chocolate + twist)

The last day we got a trio at Disney Springs Big Bad Wolf stand. The "Greek style" was our favorite.

I maybe should add, as we often stay CL, I don't normally pack food. This time, we brought/checked a suitcase mostly filled with: milk boxes (for coffee), bottled water, and snacks like chia-fruit bars. We sealed all the liquids in gallon ziplocs, which was good, because one of the water bottles leaked a tiny bit.
withthe parks opens so late, ti was nice to have a few snacks in the room when we got back.

The Dolphin in-room coffee is Starbucks paper-style pods. You get 2 regular and 2 decaf pods per day. Plus your resort fee includes 2 bottles of water per day. (In addition to that, I was able to order extra paper-pod coffee online!)

The lobby also has a little market with nice looking sandwiches, salads, fancy coffee, froyo, candy, and many grab and go items. It got a little busy at times, but they had a nice selection of reasonably healthy foods.

Yes. For HEA, that location = Between Casey's and the Castle. There are different reserved areas on the other (Tomorrowland) side of Main St. the HEA viewing spot isn't perfect, there area few light poles, but they keep apath in front of the resvered area open, so it is nice enough that we were able to sit on the fake grass to see HEA, and THAT was a nice treat!

They actually had a CM at MK with a list of names, but it looks like in the future they are prepping to have Magicband scanners at the entrance to the reserved areas.

Also they removed the ropes as soon as HEA was over. For the light show that follows, that area isn't roped off, but you could stay there.

I am so excited about this. We have a crystal palace ADR at 7:35, so I'm hoping we can go right from that meal out to the area for reserved HEA. cross your fingers it's perfect timing!

I'm very intrigued by this "seating" for HEA. It sounds like you sit on the fake grass and watch the show. Do people try to stand? I'm worried about not being there first and having a group of people sit up front and then stand for the show forcing everyone in the area to stand to see the show. Are ECVs allowed in the area?

ROL and Fantasmic have stadium type seating so everyone can sit right, these CL bookings just give better located seats? (Never been to a nighttime show at WDW outside of 1 tomorrowland desert party so this is all new to me.)

It would be $900 for my family of 6. I’m still on the fence about this, because obviously that is not cheap. On the other hand, knowing you could have 3 days squared away would be really nice.

Is anyone able to get the new rides for Toy Story opening day ???
It should be 86 days out for June 30th if I am doing my math right

Well if you were planning on doing any dessert parties for preferred viewing then it makes it worth it IMO. You can avoid having to have a meal for special seating also if you are not on a meal plan or want to eat somewhere else. That is the selling point for us. The 3 extra FP's are just a bonus. It also can make touring easier because you can get the tier one rides on the same day without having to refresh MDE for extra FP's.

Succesful day at AKL.

Never saw a FOP FP+ pull, saw river once, tough to be a bug followed by Primvevil Whirl were plentyful followed by Dinosaur. Safari and the shows were scarce but saw them all. River Rapid ride was almost non existent expect late at night. EE was an easy pull for us, my kids love this ride so we did it a lot.
