Treehouse Villas - best location

I am so excited, we just got SSR TReehouse for Spring Break. We've missed a year at DVC due to family illness.

Where is the best location to stay - close to a bus stop (But not noisy), and near the quiet pool.

I understand you have to take 2 busses ? (go thru SSR for transportation). We're thinking of getting a rental car so convenience.

Any helpful suggestions for first time Treehouse goers would be appreciated. Any maps?

Definitely get a rental car. You would not believe how long the bus transportation takes. The wait for bell services to transport our luggage to the villa at check in took about 90 minutes (this was last month).

We had the villa 2nd from the farthest from SSR. The walk to Grandstand was still only 10 minutes, another 5 to Springs It's a pretty small area, it was very convenient to the pool and the bus stop. Yes there are 2 bus stops in there and it loops to the Springs stop where you then catch the park buses. After a few of those THV bus rides, we started walking over to SSR because we could beat the bus. The boat also went from THV to SSR to DTD and took forever.

The villas are spaced pretty good and it's quiet in there. We were there in May with very hot temps and I never saw more than 3 people at the quiet pool. It was such an easy walk over to Grandstand or Springs (and better pools) that I'm sure most people made that choice.

Mosquitos were a real problem for us; we could not use the outside deck at all. It was a shame because it was a nice area but the mosquitos ate us for meals.

We had a water view villa but the foliage was so dense that we couldn't see the water; however we did hear all of the boats.

Request to be near the South bus stop. That will place you close to the pool, path and boat dock. We did have a car for part of the trip which made it easy. We usually walked to the Grandstand bus stop then took a park bus from there. In the evening we never waited more than 5 minutes to connect to a THV bus when we were returning from the parks. We loved the THV. So relaxing. Can't wait to stay there again. We were traveling with MY DB, DSIL and niece 11 and nephew 8. We won't stay there with our grandchildren, 3, 1 1/2 and 4 months until they are all out of carriages/ due to the bussing however. have a great trip.

We really enjoyed grilling while we were there. we took a chair down to put next to the grill for placing things on. We went in Nov. and had no bug issues at all. We did however have a treefrog visit us a few times. I loved drinking my coffee in the morning and adult beverages at night on the deck. We enjoyed watching the boats go by. The kids waived to the people and called them the pp's "poor people". I guess they felt like royalty staying in the treehouse. The only problems we encountered were no toilet paper, we had to ask for some twice"weird" and a missing hairdryer that they replaced the 2nd day. I had called about the hairdryer the evening we checked in and they said they didn't have one. When I called the next day they brought me a brand new one. I am hoping that people aren't stealing them but? We were the only ones at the quiet pool the 2X's we went there. The kids much prefered the main pool. But it was nice to have a quiet swim in the evening. All in all we really loved the THV's. I am sure you will too!

When are the Mosquitoes bad? We are going in the beginning of May. What are we in for?

We stayed in the THV back in Feb. in unit 7023 it was close to the bus stop and the walking path to the grandstand bus stop, which we found quicker than catching the bus at the villas. Also on the water.

I was there 1st week of may and there was so many mosquitoes they could carry away a small child back to their lair!!

Bring some citronella candles and some bug spray (whats the name of the Avon one...) - that should help. As long as its hot here in florida, mosquitoes are going to be around, ESPECIALLY near the water! So be prepared.

I know this is off topic, but needed to add this:

To keep mosquitos from having you for lunch, try putting a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and dilute with water and drink it. Warning, the taste is horrible . I was sceptical when I first heard it, but it works really well and keeps that knats away as well when I'm working in the flowerbeds. I would make sure you have something a little tastier to drink a couple of minutes later though.

Not if you are staying onsite. Just have your paper on your dashboard, the CM will wave you through.

Has anyone found a map of the tree house villa area? I've been looking around and can't seem to find one.
