I wonder why theres been nothing new here beyond what was annouced a month ago. Also strange too that DVC provided more info on BLT which opens Nov 09 but the treehouse villas will open in June 09.

i guess im expecting the same kind of information on the THV as we got on Bay lake Tower..a mailer, an email alert, more info on the DVC member website. etc.

:surfweb:
...any day now...

I'm also curious, like yourself and others, as to when
DVC will post new info. Either way, I'm soooo
glad to be a SSR owner! We needed just a little something
extra to put us over the top, so to speak. Seems now SSR
will have 2 pluses...near DTD and now THV! Woo-Hoo!:cool1:

THV is a small project and you don't buy THV points, you get access to THV free with every SSR membership.

I don't expect DVD to spend much money advertising a 60 unit room addition.

I had taken pics and put them up on my site a day or two back - they really are coming along, so I'd be surprised if something wasn't announced soon. I am not DVC, but I was a HUGE fan of the Disney Institute (and the other incarnations of the name that included the townhouses, Fairway Villas, and Treehouses) and am looking forward to staying again.

I agree with that.

Disney is really pushing BLT now and they aren't going to dilute that with aggressive marketing on another project at the same time.

The treehouse marketing will probably be BLT-lite...teaser on the website...perhaps a postcard or other small-scale marketing piece sent via the mail...article in Disney Files.

Of course, it wouldn't bother me a bit if they waited until after Febuary 8th to do all that since I'll have my THV booked for next year. ;)

I am anxious to see the ssr section of the member site updated with a THV 360 room tour. I hope that happens soon.

It won't happen real soon. They are still being built and there are no models to photograph.

I talked with MS today and they said that they have no official word
on when they will be open or when thy can begin to book?????? :confused3

Disney should still have the resources to put together a 360 tour whenever they are ready.

There may actually be models. It's SOP for designers to create a full-scale mock-up when constructing something as important as a hotel room. That's the best tried-and-true method for getting a feel for the living space before churning out units by the dozens.

In the case of DVC the models are often accessible to the public. But rest assured somewhere there are (or were) models of Disney's prior resort projects.

Since the treehouses are a relatively small project they may not have used computer modeling instead. If so, they could use the same technology to present members with a virtual walk-thru.

Disney won't put money into anything that doesn't generate a return on their investment. Since the THV are a add on the SSR, and because there are only 60 units, the marketing budget is probably near zero.

I doubt that anyone will buy SSR just because of the THV but you never know.

It's not a marketing expense...it's a development expense. Large scale developers typically do not simply sketch things out on paper and then begin construction. They build full-size mockups so that designers/executives/decision-makers can experience the same environment that a guest will. There's no better way to find problems before they are irreversible than to walk through the environment...lie in the beds...check the flow of the bathroom facilities, and so on.

The mock-ups could be in a warehouse, an empty lot, etc. I've seen photos of mock-ups disney created for many of its past resort projects. They appear to be sitting in a field or lot somewhere.

Since DVC resorts need public models, there is often a dual purpose for the temporary facilities. Recently the AKV, VGC and BLT models have been tweaked and adjusted by Imagineers as construction proceeded. In those cases, there was no need for an off-site model.

I agree that Disney will never go to the expense of constructing a public model of the treehouses, but I suspect an internal construction mock-up exists in some form. That's particularly true in the case of the treehouses since they are being constructed by a manufactured housing firm. Not only do they need to make sure that everything in the structure "works" properly, but that the designs were followed accurately before building the 60 treehouses.

I took some pictures on OCT 31 and I will post them soon.
BUt frankly they look about the same as others that have been posted.

I don''t think they are actually selling the TH villas... they are simply adding them to an existing resort (SSR). Consider them sold out.... :)

Apparently due to THVs more points at SSR will be declared and sold by DVC; Webmaster Doc has stated this on threads here ( as was case with sections of SSR built later and is case with Kidani at AKV ).
