Tree of Life carvings- making a list

I'm going to post all of the photos that I have, even if I don't see any animals in it. I'll do it in a couple of different posts so you won't get them all in one.

Here's the start:

Fresh pictures with new creatures! Yay!

89. Shark- above seahorse and squirrels
90. Dolphin, bottlenose- above camel
91. Alligator- to the right of the camel
92. Spider- to the left of the lion
93. Sea lion- under camel
94. Dragonfly- above and to the left of the sea horse and flying squirrel

And there are even more...

95. Round ray?- under the eagle to the right of the kangaroo head

Any guesses as to the following creatures?

There seems to be a nose of something under the head of the ant.
Is something looking down at the alligator to the right of the camel?

I snapped this walking through the queue so it is part of the base of the tree.

Any ideas? :confused3

Looks like a Beaver to me :confused3

Not a beaver--look at those serious claws! Sloth perhaps? Shrew? Mole?

This is such an AWESOME thread :)
Man, I love DIS.

Any chance of getting North, East, South, West sides configured in the long run? It'll make them easier to spot. I'll have to take binoculars and a compass next time I go :)
Yep, I'm a Girl Scout Leader...

I think it's a sloth. I also think I read somewhere that not all the creatures depicted are currently living on Earth- hence the dinosaur which some thought was a Komodo dragon.

That's a good idea! I'll change the lists to add directions if you will all help me.

After googling both sloth and wombat I think those long claws make it a sloth.

96. Sloth- by a chimpanzee at the base of the tree
97. Armadillo- base of the tree

We are almost to 100!!

Ohhh--that's a wombat's face! Going to check to see if wombats have massive claws... Be right back.

Definitely wombat--check out this picture I found online:

This is a blast!

Looks like we need a show of hands, who votes for wombat and who for sloth?

check out the claws on a sloth, much longer, like the ones on the carving. Again, it may be a ficticious combo of things, you never know. I thought someone said there was a unicorn somewhere.

I have not been able to find a list of what the over 300 creatures are on The Tree of Life. So I'm starting a list, please help especially if you know the real name of some of them.

Let's start with a picture and go from there.

Creature - Location
1. Buffalo- Base of tree
2. Mountain goat- Above buffalo to the left
3. Flying squirrel- Above mountain goat
4. Tree squirrels (3)- Above flying squirrel, above and to the left of the prong horn
5. Sea horse (2)- Above and to the right of the tree squirrels, above and to the left of the prong horn
6. Tiger- To the left of the mountain goat
7. Deer- Above buffalo to the right
8. Chameleon- Below sea horse
45. Bird- above squirrels
46. Moth- to the right of bird

I think I see a lobster trying to pinch the mountain goat's nose.

great thread, it has been fun to look through, just subbing in to show my DS.
He'll just love to see how many of these animlas he can spot :magnify: when we are there in June.

Thanks! :disrocks:
