Tree House Villas Points Confirmed

DVCJones, my girls and I just had this conversation today. Still, I am anxious to stay there. I don't think we will roam around at night and I certainly won't be doing a "just mom and the kids" trip there. My dh and ds can't wait to go there. They think it will be cool at night, the girls think it will be creepy at night! For a big family like mine (5 kids) it will be great to have the extra room.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL :rotfl2: I just realized that I can call and book my SSR days for next July in a 2br NOW......... LIKE TOMORROW .......and then hopefully switch it out on Feb. 1st.

I hope that current SSR owners get the first dibs on those first ressies.

Whoo hoo! That's great news! They won't be easy to get I think since SSR 2-bedrooms are reasonable points-wise anyway compared with other DVC resorts. But well worth the constant re-dialing I'll do to get through immediatley at 9am on my 11-month window when we book for June 2010. :cool1:

In the past, DVC gave a two week home resort booking period, before opening up the rservations to everyone else.

I am also very excited about the THV. However, I do have some concerns about the creatures that live along the water. Snakes, gators....Do you think that they will be an issue so close to water?

I only bring this up because one of the podcasts mention something about seeing a known poisonous snake there. Their fishing guide actually moved to a different spot to get away from it. :scared1:

I like the idea of staying there and I probably will, however, I don't think I will let the kids play outside. I have visions of trying to keep my kids from exploring under the TH. Not my idea of a restful vacation.

Anyone else think about this or am I the only overly phobic DISser here?:rotfl:

I do realize these things can be found all over WDW, however, I think you up the chances a bit by being on the water.:scared:

The idea of snakes is definitely a bit creepy. On another note, I got some GREAT pictures of a gator in the water at SSR! We were walking over the bridge in the morning to get breakfast and there he was in the water hanging out.

I have 735 points, plus I direct trade my other timeshares for DVC points too.

How do you "direct trade" for DVC points? Do you mean deposit into II and trade for a week? Just wondering because if you can trade for points I'm very interested in how to do this, this is the first I have heard of trading for points! Thanks!

Oh my gosh he looks huge!! Were you using your zoom option? How big was he exactly? This would terrify me. :scared1: Especially with our two DGS's.

Okay, now I know that I am not just a worry wort. That was exactly what I was talking about.:scared1:

I trade one of Westin timeshares for DVC points, either exchanging reservations or doing point transfers. For example, I taded my one bedroom Atlantis for a DVC reservation. I had posted on the rent/trade forum on Disboards.

The Disboards has a rent/Trade board that occasionally will have posts for trades. There are several other timeshare boards with similar types of trade/exchange forums.

Ahhhhhhh got it! Thanks for the quick reply. I have done well with the II trades but would rather be able to get points. I should have picked up "direct trades" but for some reason was thinking of something else.....my brain must be in slow motion tonight.

He really wasn't that big. Maybe 4ft? I was zooming in on his head. Here he is from further out:

Ok, me too! Although I would love the cozy, private feel of the THV, I am creeped out by bugs, snakes. Small animals wouldn't bother me. I would think Disney would do a very good job of making sure aligators were not a problem on property, agree? Boy, I hope I am right. There is a lot of water around WDW.

No, no ..... A THV for 12/27 thru 1/3 is 333 points. Two THV units would be 666 points for that week. I have 735 points, plus I direct trade my other timeshares for DVC points too.

Lucky you! I should (and am) happy with my little 150 contract and I feel very lucky to have it. I never thought my DH would go for it and he did. It is the best gift I have ever received. 735 would be nice though!

You have got to be kidding me. I don't think I am going to sleep tonight.

Oh this just makes my night!! I'm going to book a 2 bedroom at SSR for next Sept at the 11 month mark and switch it over to a THV Feb 1st!

I sure hope us SSR owners have a bit of a head start! Actually, if I do the math correctly the time I will be going next year (mid Sept) will still be beyond the 7 month mark for non SSR owners so I should be good!!

There are lots of alligators on property. There used to be an alligator at BCV. I never saw him personally. But there was one behind the turkey cart at MK, near Splash Mtn. He was there for quite a while. Haven't seen him for a long time. I'm not so afraid at BCV or SSR but the THV area seems to be a lot darker. I might not know he's there until I fell over him!:scared1:

I was at the Doorway to Dreams today to do a BLT addon and we ended up meeting with the manager (Had an appt to meeting with our guide but some how she had the day off?). She confirmed that THV would have the same point value as a 2 BR.

Anybody have confirmation on opening date. I thought the press release said Sept 09' but the OP said June 09'? Please, please let it be June!!:genie:

:cool1:

Thank you for posting!!

I just calculated that our 2 week Christmas stay next year in a THV will be 586 points.

Our stay will span 3 seasons, Choice, Premier and Adventure.

Our normal 1 bedroom would cost 446 for the same dates so for 11 more points per night, the boys get their own room and bed and we have a room to invite guests for a few days and no one will have to sleep on the couch.:thumbsup2

In comparison with other resorts for the same dates, HHI, AKV-stan, AKV-value, BWV-stan and OKW 2 bedrooms come in cheaper. OKW 2 bed is cheaper by 31 points and BWV-stan is cheaper by 6. AKV is 60 to 110 points lower for its stan and value 2 bed.

The big DEAL is, that the SSR Grand Villa would cost 1239 points which would be total overkill if no one showed up but us. We can spend 1/2 the points and invite friends and family and if it ends up being just us, we won't feel like we are wasting points or rooms.:wizard:

I know the boys and Dh will love staying in the THV. We stay at SSR often and Dh and I walk the grounds almost every morning. The THV are not a bad walk to the main area or the existing boat dock or DTD Westside. We will also have walking access to OKW! That's plenty to keep us busy in between the parks and waterparks!

Cant wait for the Christmas Tree share to include the THV!! :santa:
