To start, I will mention two things: I'm admittedly inexperienced with using online TAs (Travelocity in particular), and yes, I read the Travelocity T&Cs AND searched here and elsewhere for information before I booked a resort room and tickets (the real problem child here) through them last night.
Travelocity seems to go out of their way, on their web site and in their formal policies, to promote the fact that their reservations are flexible, that they understand that plans change, and that they therefore only charge any change or cancellation fees passed along to them.
This morning after talking with them in an attempt to change reservation dates, I discovered that their "Free & Flexible Cancellation. Book Worry Free." isn't so "worry free" and definitely isn't flexible IF you purchase anything else at the same time. I also discovered that the ticket vouchers are date coded, Travelocity doesn't tell you that prior to booking, and that Travelocity is absolutely NOT willing to offer any flexibility on changing the dates on the ticket voucher.
After I booked the voucher and saw the coded dates and applicable T&Cs which appear on the voucher (which are NOT mentioned before booking), I became concerned about the ability to change the dates. Travelocity apparently can't do it without canceling the entire reservation and rebooking, but the cancellation will result in me forfeiting the voucher AND the entire cost of the voucher, which is absolutely absurd. They said that maybe Disney could help, but that they'd have to reach out to Disney on my behalf, and they weren't willing to do that unless they felt that I was under some type of extenuating circumstance (and they don't).
To make a long story short, after further searching on the specifics of my situation, it appears that there have been folks who have been successful at getting Travelocity to refund the ticket voucher. If so, I'd certainly appreciate some pointers either here or in a private message. I am trying to find the least-cost way out of this nightmare. Worst-case scenario I will cancel with them and will fight them on the voucher charge "cancellation fee" through AmEx.
Thanks,
JKG
