traveling with multiples!!

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile! I just wanted to let you all know that I'm 25 weeks pregnant. It's another set of Boy/Girl twins. :cheer2: My first set will turn 6 in March!

Double congrats. How exciting. You are truly blessed!
When my sons were 6 months old I went and told the doctor if he could get me a set of twin girls I would be totally happy. I ended up having 2 girls but they are 13 months apart instead of being twins. They are about as close as sisters can be without being twins. (Both of my girls are expecting babies in 2 weeks).

CONGRATS, KARLA!!!!!!

My twins will turn six on Thursday!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, roysbrew and WOW! That's amazing! It will be interesting to see how your experiences with this second set are both similar and different. I know you'll be busy but hope you keep us posted!

Congratulations to you too, lorli! And wow, flipflop - triplets! :dance3:

Hi'ya to all here!

My B/G turned 10yo last October and we had quite a celebration for the milestone. The celebration was mine as well as theirs because having had breast cancer when they were just turning 6yo their 10th birthday was something I wondered if I'd ever see. We let them each invite 3 friends and rented a big van (all - boys and girls - singing along to HSM) and went into Boston for a Duck Tour, then had pizza and ice cream at Fanueil Hall followed by a sleepover for all complete with parents visiting and whatnot. It was nuts but very memorable, LOL.

We're just back from a great January trip to the world that Santa brought. It was really awesome having the two kids the same age/same energy level/similar interests, etc. They had a blast together and Mom and Dad even got to have some R&R while they went on certain rides by themselves. They had some homework to do (nice timing - had to teach them long division in our resort room :faint: ) and kept journals which they turned in - I can see how it gets harder to take them out of school as they go up in grades. So those of you with younger kids, take advantage NOW!!

ellemiele, there are lots of us here who've done the Disney cruise if we can help at all. You are going to have a great time!

Have a great day, everyone! :hyper2: And thanks for keeping the thread going, kritter!

At what age did everyone stop taking a stroller to WDW???!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS to all those who are expanding their families!

I am so excited about our first cruise: June 19 - 3 day on the Wonder, and then we'll spend 3 days at BWV. I have noticed that alot of people on this multiples thread have cruised (and most more than once!) . We'll head down to FL 2 days after the kids get out of school. I think the timing will be good - any summer activities won't really be in full swing so they won't miss out on much at home. At first I wanted to go over Easter break but it is sooooo $$$$$$ at that time but I didn't want to take them out of school if I could avoid it - Pea-n-Me, I know what you mean about that long division - we missed 3 days in December for a WDW trip with my parents.
So June it is - I'm just praying for good weather since we are only going on a 3 day. Since it's our first cruise I thought we'd start small but I notice how many folks seem to do a 3 or 4 night first and then a 7 day a year or two later! Our kids are very excited. We needed 2 rooms so we booked a cat 6 and a cat 11 across the hall from each other on deck 6. I haven't booked any excursions because since it's our first cruise I think we 'll spend alot of time onboard - esp on the Nassau day. We will definitely go ashore at CC but I think we'll spend most our time at thefamily beach. But I am very open to suggestions . Anyone have any experience with excursions at Nassau with 11 year olds?

At what age did everyone stop taking a stroller to WDW???!!!!!!!!!!

We just returned last week from our first trip to WDW without a stroller. My twins turned 4 in October. The last couple of days they were pretty tired and I considered renting a stroller, but my dh was so happy not dealing with parking and finding the stroller later that we ended up just having them walk. To their credit, they never complained or asked to be carried. I was actually pretty impressed. :thumbsup2

Hi,
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!!!!

Awesome choice for room selection. We had the same thing in 06 with friends and it worked out great.

We've both gotten off at Freeport (where we did the dolphin experience) and Nassau and stayed on the ship as well. There are merits to both. Personally, this past August was probably the last time I'll get off in Nassau. It was blazingly hot walking to the visitor center/straw market and I didn't find the people there particularly friendly or nice. One guy wanted us to take a horse and buggy ride, and when we said no, thanks, in an attempt to bully us he motioned for the driver to pull the horse right in front of us while my kids and I were walking. This enormous horse was forced right in front of us, ie inches away, I couldn't believe it - we could have very easily been hurt. I was p'd and felt sorry for the horse. Inside the straw market the kids got their picture taken with an island "character" and were called up on stage with a band and I realized afterward we were expected to give money. These were a total turnoff. I asked a woman working a stand (where I bought some items) who was dressed beautifully in island attire if it was alright if I took her picture and she said no. OK. I did buy a few cheap beach Bahama tees and beach towels, but it really wasn't worth going out. We were back on the ship within the hour and had a great day taking advantage of all the ship has to offer. I always wonder afterward why I even bother.

OTOH, DH enjoys walking around for a little while (he wasn't with us during the horse incident as we were on our way back to the ship while he stayed) and some friends we were with enjoyed it and even returned after dark (which I think Disney doesn't advise doing). Before the trip we'd thought about doing a day at Atlantis (ie Comfort Suites) or Paradise Island, but I think that many in our group (of 30) felt we were already spending a lot of money and didn't want to spend even more. At Paradise Island we would have just hung out and rented jet skis, but even I was just more in the mood to hang out on the ship after 4 busy, hot days at WDW. On the 4 night cruise the time goes by quickly so I like to take full advantage while I'm there. Be sure to check out Diversions which is a nice place to just hang and have a drink and some snacks (they have games and a free snack buffet in the evening, kids can stay until 9pm). Also Cove Cafe if you like coffee. I even wake up early in order to go hang out there by myself for an hour before starting the day. :cloud9:

Thanks Pea-n-Me, for the info. We'll be surprising our 3 boys (9, 6 & 6) with our first Disney Land & Sea cruise in November. Although they've been to the World twice in the past 2 years, they are begging and pleading with us to do the cruise. We keep telling them that we need to take a break this year, but I have no idea how I'm going to be able to keep the secret and hold back my excitement for the next 9 months!

What a wonderful surpise for your boys. I sure wish someone would surprise ME with a Disney cruise! :lmao: I can't imagine trying to keep it as a surprise....I would bust! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice - I'm definitely leaning toward NOT getting off the ship in Nassau and taking that time to really enjoy things onboard since this is our first cruise - and since we DO want to spend time the next day at CC. And I was hoping the ship would be less crowded at port in Nassau since I'm sure many folks do go ashore - am I right about that?

We are planning our twins 1st trip for October, they'll be 16 months and we can't wait! I was hoping one of you might be willing to post what you did for restaurants for young children. We will be on the ddp and are trying to decide on our ADRs. Should we do all buffets? I am at a bit of a loss with this. Any advice? Thanks!

It was nice to see this thread on the first page again!

We are taking ours for the first time in Dec. However, BIL/SIL took her son (then 2) on the DDP this past September and she cam back with good advice. They liked Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys. She wished she had made her ADRs later b/c by the time they got back to the resort, napped and got up and ready - they were racing to make meal times. Plus, she would have liked to have had a little time to give her DS a snack before they left the resort.

Just wanted to share my excitement. I now have "almost twin" grandbabies. My twin boys were born 27 years ago and now both of my daughters had babies 3 weeks ago. The babies were born 45 1/2 hours apart! The best part is that both of my daughters and their babies live on the same block with me and I get lots of time with my babies. One is a boy and one is a girl. I am truly blessed. These are actually grandbabies 6 & 7 for us! I can't wait to take them all to Disney World!
