Hi, everyone! Wow, there are more parents of multiples here than I realized! This is great!

I have 2 y/o identical twin boys and we are taking them to DW for the first time! We'll be there Jan 31 - Feb 6. I'm really excited and a bit nervous as I have NO idea how they'll react to everything. One boy is more timid and sort of holds back when approaching new things, while the other jumps right in without a thought most of the time!

OK---since most of you seem to have older twins and have done this before - maybe you can give me some thoughts/advice on our trip! We're planning to use umbrella strollers in the parks (I bought the connectors, too, just in case we need them). We'll take the bus from the resort to the parks - any advice on getting the strollers and boys on board easily, without annoying other passengers? I'm going to use a backback diaper bag because I'm thinking it would be easier than a shoulder bag - any thoughts on that? I'm also going to bring a small zippered cooler bag with juice and water for the boys & granola bars, teddy grahams, etc for snacks. We'll plan to go back to the room for their naps, keeping them on their regular schedule as much as possible, so we'll probably head back to the room around noon, after lunch.

Thanks in advance for any "muliples" travel tips!

First welcome...
Secondly, you have things pretty well planned out...We took the umbrella strollers to and used the connectors but most of the time we both took one stroller and one kid..The cooler thing is great idea and will save time and money..and will keep the kids happy since you can produce a drink on demand...
Sometimes depending upon the driver we were allowed to keep the kids in the strollers and just wheel them onto the bus...In the stroller..when the bus was more filled up I took both kdis on and then DH folded up the strollers and brought them on...It was easier this way...I just held there hands and walked them onto the bus...Most likely if there are no seats left on a bus someone will offer you theres since you will have two kids...
Know ahead of time what you want to see so then you can plan out your morning so you can get the most done and get back for naps..We did the same thing when ours were two...Head back for a nap for all of us...Then if we were going to go back and do fire works, parades, etc. at night I took their pjs with me and changed them into them before the parade etc.. so if they fell asleep on the way back on the bus then we could just put them back to sleep when we got to the room...If they should fall asleep on the bus I had DH get off bus first and set the strollers up and he would come back on for one kid and I wold carry the other sleeping child off and into the stroller..they are soo pooped out they will sleep through it all...Also make your dinner and character reservations before you leave home...the sooner the better...Also if they are in diapers still bring way more than you think you will need the extra room on the way back is better than running out of diapers at WDW they are expensive to buy there...
Ok if I can help in any other way let me know...My kids have already been four times took first trip when they were ten months old...Happy to help..
WELCOME again....
Kristin

I'm a mom to 4 girls, dd11, dd9, and twin dd6. This will be our 3rd trip to to Disney, 2nd time for the younger one.

I carried my twins to 38 weeks and they weighted in at 7'1 and 7'10 and each were 20 inches long. I was huge! LOL

Thanks for the great stories, I love reading them!

Deede,
Welcome,
Wow you sure do have your hands full with four girls...I think my two keep me busy you are really busy...
How old were your kids when you took them the first time to WDW??Are you planning on going back soon???

Kritter-Thanks for the advice. I think I'll use your suggestion of having dh fold the strollers while I get the boys on the bus...that probably would be faster than each of us doing that with 1 boy and 1 stroller.

I made character meal reservations for the Crystal Palace breakfast (they LOVE Pooh & Friends) and for dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. I'm just hoping they won't be afraid of the characters. :worried:

We also have reservations for the preferred viewing area for fireworks. It's at the Plaza Landing...I'm just hoping that area won't be too overcrowded for the little ones. I guess we could always just leave if it is.

Kritter--Hi, thanks for the welcome. We went to Disney for the 1st time when the twins were 6months (they stayed home wGrandma and Grandpa) and the others were 3 and 5. We went again when the twins were 2 1/2, others were 5 and 7. We're going again in March and we're so excited! We've booked breakfest w/Cindy and Chef Mickey's. Should be a lot of fun!

they will all love Breakfast with Cindy..Terrible how much it went up though You will have to let us know if it is worth it...Chef Mickeys is great too....You are going to have so much fun...Where are you staying??makes me jealous that we are not going to OCt.. we are doing a week in WDW then a week on the cruise....

Kritter--We're staying offsite this time. I wish we could stay onsite, but we found a deal on a 2BR/2BA condo that we couldn't pass up. I'll let you know how Cindy's is!

I'm glad I found this thread. We have DS 6, DD 4 and twin DD 2. We are going on a 4 night Disney Cruise on Sunday and then staying 3 nights at WDW. We were scheduled for late dinner on the cruise and yesturday we got switched to early dinner. The twins are signed up for Flounders every night from 8-10 PM. I am not sure if I should try and switch the babysitting times when we get on the ship. I am looking for advice.

Well it all depends if you think your kids will make it to stay up till ten every night...One or two nights of that and my kids would be dead tired.....the next day and then I would have to pay the price with cranky kids....

Will they not put your kids to sleep at night in Flounders? I thought I would be able to tell them when to lay them down at night and then just carry them and put them to bed in our room.

I "lucked" into the preferred fireworks viewing at the Plaza Landing on Main Street in MK. When I booked our trip DW added "AAA Storytelling" to my package by mistake. They noticed the error after I paid and sent a letter stating storytelling isn't part of the MYW package +dining. To make up for the error they sent me vouchers for preferred fireworks viewing at the Plaza Landing. I had to call to reserve a spot for our family on the date we wanted. I'm not really sure if it's truly a good spot or not since I've never watched the fireworks from there. I have to arrive 15 minutes before the fireworks start & there is no seating...I guess you just stand to watch the fireworks. I'm hoping it's not over-crowded since the boys are small. I went ahead and booked it--if it's not comfortable we can always leave!

BTW---today I added a reservation for the character dinner at Garden Grill at Epcot on SAT. I was worried we might have trouble getting a table service meal on a SAT evening if I didn't make the reservation. I've never eaten there...hoping it's good.

Sounds neat...Please take pictures and let us know when you go how you liked it.....
Never been to the garden grill either let us know about that as well....

bump did not want to see us get to far down.....

My twins just turned two and we made our first trip to WDW. Wow -- what an experience. I'm glad the word out there is that it will get easier -- always good to get a little encouragement from others who know.

I just wanted to share something that I found during a Google search that made my trip much easier. I found a company that ships baby stuff to your hotel. I was leary at first, but as I looked into it I decided to give it a shot. I was able to order everything I needed for the girls from the comfort of my computer (late at night when the girls were sleeping) and not worry about carrying it with me. It turns out my order weighed over 50 pounds!! The company is called Babies Travel Lite. They have an awesome selection of stuff -- even things I couldn't find at home in the winter like swim diapers. I will definitely use them again the next time I'm brave enough to take a trip.
