In the past, I'm the only one to get a Refillable Mug. I would fill up w/ coffee at the resort CS and then head off to a park. We had a stroller so we had storage for the mug while at the park.

Now that everyone gets a mugs, I see everyone wanting to use it in morning too. That's 5 mugs to travel with.

Do you usually take your mugs to the park?
Is worth the hassle?

I need my coffee but kids don't coffee or soda so this why I didn't them one in the past.

What kind of drinks are availble for kids?

We go in December so because heat isn't an issue my kids get hot chocolate most mornings. They likely wouldn't do that if we went in hot months. It's always been a big hit with them. There is also powerade and lemonade for my non soda drinking group - although I would argue except for the bubbles there's not much difference between the lemonade and soda :rolleyes2

I never bring mugs to the parks. I'm the family sherpa and I'm not about to lug those around. If I still have coffee left in the morning I just pour it in a disposable cup and bring that to the bus stop. The kids know that if they have anything left from breakfast they're just not bringing it unless it's a bottle that can be thrown out when they're done. DH drinks his coffee faster than I do in the morning (he's not the one making sure we have everything we need for the day and making sure everybody is actually getting ready instead of playing, reading, eating, watching TV or a million other things that distract them so he has time I just don't have) so there's nothing for him to bring to the bus stop in the morning.

We do the same - head to breakfast and/ or to fill our mugs. If we aren't having breakfast at the resort then two people go just to fill the mugs. Anything we haven't finished before we leave we pour into the to go cups they leave in the room with the coffee maker. Then we rinse our mugs, grab our bags packed for the day, and head to the bus. Some people probably don't want to go back to the room before leaving for the day, but we always do. It's not out of our way and solves the mug problem. It might take 3 extra minutes.
I would look like a pack mule with 5 mugs dangling from various belt loops and bag straps otherwise, because somehow I always end up carrying everything.

we take our mugs with us to the parks. We fill them with something to drink while waiting for the bus then when done each of the kids has a drawstring backpack of their over the shoulder bag and just put the cup away in there, then use at meals to take their drink with them on the go if there is some left.

Frankly, I've never found that the mugs hold enough liquid (especially if you are getting pop w/ice) to make it worth while. Technically I'm not sure that you are supposed to bring beverages onto the Disney bus transportation, not that I've ever seen a CM tell someone to empty it. If you are driving your self to the parks then I'd finish prior to entering and leave it in our vehicle. Otherwise, I don't see much value in lugging those things around. If you are getting a locker, maybe, but if not, no.

For youngish children, depending on your parental preferences, there are really no beverages for children for the mugs. I don't typically like my kids to have the fake-all-sugar juices, and I don't let them drink soft drinks. They can't get real juice or milk with the mugs. (I can let them use the mugs to fill up with free tap water).

I've never tried to bring mugs into the park. If I have used it for coffee in the morning, I'll dash back to the room to get rid of the mug, before going to the park. It's just not worth carrying around extra stuff.

As far as I understand, there is no problem taking drinks on the buses, but they are supposed to be sealed or properly closed (as in bottled drinks or at the very least, have the lid properly fitted onto a cup or mug). You are however not allowed to eat or drink whilst on the buses/boats/monorails, etc.

We don't take our mugs to the parks. It's not worth the hassle. The only time we have taken ours with, we have taken them empty when we've been at the resort to change and gone out for the evening and know we want to stop and get a drink for the room on our way back. But that is very rare. More than one starts being a bit of a nuisance to carry

Carrying around mugs in the park sounds like a lot of, well, carrying. We have done the DxDP 4 times (always includes mugs) and we don't bring them to the park. We don't use the mugs much, but when we use them it's in the room/around the pool. Mugs stay in the room.

P.S. - I guess part of the reason why we don't bring the mugs is that my kids are 4 and 7 and there isn't anything for them to drink in the am off the mugs. There is no milk or even juice. There's a 'hot chocolate' which is water + the powder sugared cocoa stuff (no milk in it - I tried it!). It's just coffee, tea, iced tea, and soft drinks for the re-fillable mugs.

We have a double stroller and on a recent trip we got a lot of comments on how much our stroller held because people noticed 4 refill mugs, a tumbler, two juice thermos', and maybe an apple juice bottle sitting in the cup holders on the top of it :lmao:.

Our kids are young so I always use their mugs for ice water so I can water down their apple juice throughout the day. The other mugs we fill with iced tea for myself and my DH. Since we have the stroller right now carrying the mugs isn't a big deal.

Now once we no longer have the stroller we will not be carrying all those mugs around. I have drink straps from before we had children to use for bottles of water so we'll go back to using those if we don't have a backpack we're carrying around :).

Yes, I'd love to use my mugs everywhere especially that I maintain to have at least 8 glasses of water a day (healthy living). But I make sure that my mug is portable and seal. In fact, I have mug collections from http://www.logotoyou.com/Custom-Mugs-s/1.htm

Here are some of my mugs:

We almost always end up with one "coffee mug" going to the park with us. It is usually me. :) The best part is that you have it with you as soon as you return to your hotel and you can fill it on the way back to your room! However, I will probably not let me kids take theirs with us this fall because I don't want to carry 4 of them around all day. Kids are older so no stroller for us!

We always take ours with us. We fill them up on the way to the bus in the morning and fill them back up on the way back to our room at night since most days are out all day . We also fill them if we have lunch at another resort. We just hang them from a clip on our day pack.

Your room has disposable cups - you can pick up tops to these cups at the beverage station.

I go fill the mugs in the AM and bring them back to the room while the fam is changing and getting ready - once everyone is ready, if beverages are not gone then we empty into the disposable cups and leave.

Last month we carried our refillable mugs w/ us for a couple of days when we went to the parks. I believe it was when we stayed at Bay Lake Tower and could refill at the Contempo Cafe when we returned to the Contemporary hotel by the monorail. It was too much trouble to retrieve our mugs from the room and bring them back to the cafe but we had a jogging stroller and could stash the mugs in the basket while we were at the parks. But if it required one person to carry the mugs for the whole family (in a backpack) I don't think that would be worth it. Guess if each person were willing to carry their own mug it would be up to them. No healthy drink options for kids but there were some non-caffeine options like Sprite, Root Beer, Powerade type drink, and sometimes lemonaide. I think this might vary from resort to resort though.
