Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Happy Birthay Kiah!!! Ken, enjoy the big surprise. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Michelle and Ken, thanks for the updated photopass info. I'm excited to be able to view pics at the kiosk, even if it's limited. I always wished that Shutters was opened early, when I was up exploring the ship and had the time to look. Plus, it's so nice and peaceful in the early mornings.

Chaos, I emailed you.

Shell

Hey great idea. I never thought of that fact that with photopass you can view pics early in the morning when it is so peaceful around the ship.

Ok, We are off to go surprise DD. I dont know if I am more excited about telling her or actually going on the cruise.

Hope she had a great birthday and I am sure it was a great surprise.

Fortunately that is THIS weekend...in 2005 we had the pleasure of dealing with Gamma, after they ran out of letters, which precluded our stopping in GC altogether. Also, fortunately, we don't sail for another 17 days.

Chuck:cool1:

Ahh yes, I remember the early morning wake-up from the captain saying sorry we are pulling away. Then again last October we ran right into TS Nick I think and that meant no CC for us. And oh Chuck was it November 2006 that we almost did not make GC and they tendered us in from the other side of the island so we got the scariest most adventurist bus tour of the Island. And the water was crashing over the sea wall to the shopping distict on the tourist side......Thanks for brining up those memories

Thanks for the Powerade info. Now does anyone know what is available at the beverage station besides Coke and Diet Coke?
So glad the tropical depression/hurricane is not developing 2 weeks from now!

Suzanne - Thanks for the powerade powder info and the offer. I'm getting groceries this weekend and will look for it! Those will be very easy to pack.

Milk, lemonade, hot tea (hot water and tea bags), hot chocolate, coffee.

Yes Michelle it was 2006 that we lucked out and were allowed to dock on the other side of GC, but all water excursions were cancelled and for good reason. Those waves in the harbor were drenching the wter side and occaionally both sides of the harbor street...but it was nice for shopping and lunch.

Chuck:cool1:

PS - last year though was very nice and for the first time in 3 tries, we actually made it to Stingray City...and that is defintely a good excursion.

Susan - Your turkey's legs have been chopped off. I think you may be able to find them at the turkey legs stand at the MK:lmao: !!!!

I was just thinking that I would miss the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year, and then I had a thought... For those of you who have been on the Thanksgiving cruise before - Do they show it on the big screen?

Oops, did not mean to imply to anyone that all the weather is bad. Just brought back some memories that made me chuckle.

Chuck, Lisa, or Lynn correct me if I am wrong but I think the answer is no since it is not on one of their networks

Our DD (6) is already fretting about the kids club, because I won't be there with her. On our last cruise she had her cousins with her, yet she still didn't like to go to the clubs. Our other 2 (DD9, DS11) are okay with them, but they would rather be doing something else. Now mind you, they don't spend too much time there. There is no time!! We are so busy with all the activities on the ship and at ports. But they WILL be going this trip since we have Palo and spa ressies.

Thank goodness for the green bracelets, FE and the pictures on the website. It's a connection with other families and a good conversation starter. The kids enjoyed getting the FE gifts together, and are eager to help distribute them.

PM me if you have a DD who will be in the Oceaneer's Club. This might get DD excited that she has a FE friend who will be with her.

My DD6 is planning on spending a LOT of time in the clubs. She wants to do everything! I've been planning the trip for two years, and made the stupid mistake of being over-excited about booking and telling her right away!! We've seen the travel channel special and the DCL planning dvd probably 100 times each! We've gone over the navigator and trip reports together, and while my mom and I will be scheduling some quality time with her, she has her own agenda already :-) I'm sure she would love to buddy up with your DD at the Oceaneer's Club.

Hey - we're at AKL too! Coming in Friday around 11am. Savannah room but don't have a clue where. Going to DD early afternoon, hanging around the hotel then MVMCP at MK in the eve.

We booked a savannah room too! I thought, if we do nothing else all day, we can look out the window... But, my roommates are going to be enjoying their *last* Disney day when we get there for our first day, so we're planning to meet for dinner. Then after some of my old high school buddies are going to drive up from Sarasota and spend the night. I'd really like to check out Disney Quest with them, and design my own roller coaster :woohoo:

I bet we'll see you on the shuttle to the port in the morning though :cool1:

I'll definitely post some pictures after I pass the ten-post mark, so that we'll have familiar faces when we run into other DISer's familiar faces!!

It was working last week....not sure if it was current :confused3

website sometimes seems to require hitting a page other than homepage...

as to the parade, I think Michelle is correct that they don't show it.

Chuck:cool1:

15 Days! 15 Days! (according to the DIS countdown) 15 Days! 15 Days!
Chezpixilpixie - See you on the Savannah!:squirrel: (that's the only wildlife I could find, other than the members of this group!)

What a sacrifice, eh? Giving up the Macy's parade for the sea! It would be nice if they could show it since it's a tradition for so many. And "Black Friday" shopping! I guess I'll have to get my bargains in gold and gems in GC and Cozumel! I'm sure I can find a few lovely baubles to take home.

Ken - I hope Kiah had a wonderful birthday and things are calm now!

Have a good day, Make good choices. Be kind.:flower3:

Is everyone going to the above site and entering the sweepstakes every day? I hope one of us is a winner!

:lmao: :rotfl2: Or waiting for her at dinner on the cruise. Next to the lobster, of course.

Okay, Judy, I was hoping no one would notice that my turkey's legs had already been eaten.:lmao: No matter how I tried, I could not get the whole thing on there. Atleast you can tell what it is, right?:rotfl:

Yeah, we can tell what it is. It's a stumpy fowl!:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I have a question for all of the parents with kids taking time off from school....
Do you write an excuse letter to the school asking for an excused absence and work in advance or do you just deal with it when you get home and call them off? :teacher: I'm sitting here typing up the excuse letter and I was just wondering. DS will be missing 3 days.
Judy

In the past, we notified school of absence so that we could keep up with all missed work and assignments.

We are fortunate this year tha DS(12) school is out the entire week:cool1:

DD (18) is in different school district and will miss 2 days. She will have her assignements and do work on trip to/from Port Canaveral.
