i am hoping to do a solo trip and am not sure what the best way is for me to get around. i will not be renting a car so i will be using either they disney shuttle and/or mears. i am planning on doing 3 days at disney and then 3 at universal. what is the best way for me to get from disney over to universal?

my thinking was to take the free disney shuttle to onsite hotel at disney and then take a cab over to my hotel at universal and just get mears to take me to the airport. seems complicated though and costly as they would be one way. any suggestions? what has worked for you?

Should I assume you mean "Magical Express" from the airport to your Disney
resort? If so....

You can use Mears to take you to the hotel near Universal, and then back to
the airport. They will do pickups from any Disney resort or Universal.
One way trips with Mears aren't more expensive than a round trip, IMHO.

You could also look into a sedan service to take you to Universal and then from Universal to the airport. We have done that and usually get the same driver. It wasn't much more than a cab. The benefit is nicer car and it leaves exactly when you want (versus Mears shuttles that take groups so you have less flexibility). But it is probably worth checking out a cab, a sedan, and mears to see which best fits your price and other needs.

yes i was referring to magical express. i haven't been to disney since they started these buses so i'm not sure how they work. i also thought that the sedan service was much more expensive than a cab; is this so? i'll check into mears prices and compare. thanks!

My opinion is to use www.SunrayTransportation.com I've used them for my past 2 trips as their own company and their owners drove for us the trip before when they were with another company. Great rates, friendly and dependable service. They will be driving for me again at the end of the month, even though I could've used the free Magical Express.

Hi

I know you mentioned you weren't planning to rent a car, but I would recommend giving it a second thought. Travelling in Florida by car is very easy. From the airport to the hotel to the parks. There are signs everywhere that point you towards Disney. Even if you get a little lost, there is always another sign telling you how to get where you are going.

The rental car will give you the flexibility to go where you want, when you want, without having to depend on a shuttle or car service to take you.

We always rent a car when we go to Disney. There are times we'll use the Disney transportation (usually to go to Magic Kingdom) but other than that like the flexibilility and convenience of having a rental car.

I second the car thought. If you use ME to get to Disney, you can than rent a car the lasy day at the Dolphin (by using Dis Trans) and it will probably cost you less for the 3 days than the 2 transfers

I "third" the car idea. If you are by yourself, you could rent a compact car and it might not be any more expensive than paying for the car service or Mears or a cab or whatever you end up with.

There are some pretty good deals out there with compact cars. Consider joining National's Emerald Isle club, and you get really great deals
