Hopefully someone has some info to share on this one.

We will be at WDW from June 28 or 29 thru July 12. My DH wants to drive and I do not. We drove last August and the saving was only around $150....not worth it IMO. I'm wondering if we even have a hope of getting cheap flights considering that we go south 1 week before July 4th weekend and come home 1 week after. I have always heard that it's a big family travel holiday for Americans. To my way of thinking we are caught on both ends of that holiday...assuming that people are taking a weeks vacation(or more).

This time I don't have the option of having flexibility in our travel dates...we are at a convention from June 30- July 4. If I can get airfare in the $165 range then DH can't say a word about flying.

I guess I'm looking to hear some experiences with flying on these weekends. Do the flights sell out quickly? Do the fares increase or never go on sale because of the holiday? Any other info to offer?

TIA to all the fab DIS experts!!!!!:)

Last year we went to WDW on July 2nd, returned on July 11th. I got $99.00 each way through Syracuse to Orlando with Jet Blue. This year the prices which just came out last week are higher during this time period and we opted to go on July 15th to get the $99.00. I had wanted to avoid some of the heat and I expect it will be even hotter then, but, oh well.

Last July fourth we got tickets for 39 one way and 49 back. Which was an awesome deal We went to Orlando and flew back from Tampa. We didn't even have a tri planned but when the deal came up we decided to go because the flight was so cheap. That was a sale with Southwest but usually their sales are for travel on Tuesday and Wednesday only.

Last July SW had an amazing seat sale. Just for fun I priced 4 tickets and it was around $375 roundtrip. If that would come up again this year I'd rent a car as well.

Does anyone remember if that sale included the first week of July?
