OK, I'll bite - what are shampoo and conditioner bars?
KC
I didn't write the original post, but I'll try to respond.
There are a few companies that make bars of solid shampoo and conditioners, similar to bars of soap. There is little waste or recycling needed with these products, as the packaging is minimal. I have found that many of the solid shampoo/conditioner products are made outside of the US. For example, I have never used their solid shampoos/conditioners, but I have used many other products from a Canadian cosmetics company,
Lush . I discovered Lush when I was in Vancouver, and fell in love with their products.
Anyway...
I usually try to find bottles of favorite products that are bigger then the sample sized ones, but smaller than full sized. Some companies, like Pantene (one of my favorite shampoos) makes a mid-sized bottle. I bought it once, and re-fill it from my large sized bottle at home. I do the same with my Cetaphil cleanser.
I use empty prescription bottles (after removing the labels) and fill them with Q-tips, cotton balls, etc.
I save up sample sized dental floss and toothpaste from dental visits and bring 1 or 2 with me. For DH and me it is a good amount, and we usually end up finishing one of the tubes. Plus, I feel that 2 sample tubes of toothpaste takes up less space than a full sized tube.
Full sized sunscreen is needed for this freckle-faced redhead!
