Thinking of going next October to Orlando, wondering whether to buy dollars now as the rate seems to be dropping fast. Anyone know the best place to buy:cool1:

Hiya lin85prest

I reserved our currency with Crown Exchange back in December for our forthcoming October trip and banked an exchange rate of 2.04 $ to the pound.

Clearly there are advantages and disadvantages.

You have to pay upfront for your spending money rather than been able to save up till the day you travel, plus the exchange rate could go against you and you'll have therefore missed out although I feel that the further in advance you order your currency the better rate you'll get.

I did research this company prior to placing my order and searched a few posts on the DIS and all seemed really positive.

You could also try www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk. There is a search engine on this site which will give you an idea of any other companies offering good rates. :surfweb:

We've literally just ordered £700 for next August - three days ago they offered me a rate of 1.95 and today it was 1.8972 - we decided we couldn't wait any longer, and the drop in rate would cost us more than interest we could have earned.

Just waiting to receive the documents to open our US dollar account now, as we are getting married at Disney next year and won't pay til then, so want to secure a good rate now as we have the funds!

I would if you have the cash right now and you know you won't need it for anything else before you go. I didn't think i'd ever suggest this but the rate forecast is a bit grim!

Hi, just wondering where you got this rate from.

Thanks

Tracy

Thanks for that, that was a good deal. I managed to get First Choice to match the best rate I could find today which was Travelex - 1.8261. We're not off till April but thought it was best to get some now before they drop anymore.

Have you thought about getting a FairFX card? you can top it up as you go along. It's bril. Good exchange rates, no commission charges, no purchase charges and only $2 to withdraw cash and accepted everywhere where they accept Mastercard, which is almost everywhere!!!
