Our Free Dining trip in August was booked as a bounceback. Our friends have decided to join us and will be on the phone early Monday to book their trip. They will be offered trip insurance, and I'm not sure whether to tell them to take it or not. For that matter, I'm wondering if I should call Disney and ask it that it be added to our trip.

See, both of us have relatives who are diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The irony of that is downright eerie. Both relatives are 50 year-old men who have lived in the same town for most of their adult lives. Both guys were never married and no children, but have been terrific uncles to our sons.

We're all trying to stay positive and hope that our relatives will be with us until long after our Disney trip in August. But with this situation, we're both worried about being able to take our trip since neither party can be in Florida if we had to attend a funeral.

Does anyone here know anything about the terms of the travel insurance the WDW Travel Company offers when you book a trip? Would it cover the expenses of a cancelled trip due to a death in the family? What else would it cover? And can I still buy it if I booked last August?

I have always purchased the travel insurance. I had to use it one time when I was in a hurricane at Disney Summer 2004. MCO closed and had to stay 2 extra nights at POLY. Covered everything--room, food, etc. No deductible and timely reimbursement of all monies. My medical for out-of-network would be very high should I have to use it when we are at Disney. The policy would offset any of those fees as well. There are many good reasons I can see for the low amount of money, $133.90. Traveling costs money. I don't believe it is worth gambling with thousands and not paying a little over $100.00. Insurance is not always needed but worth the peace of mind.

Here is a link to the policy and terms:

I completely agree we you. I would rather pay 133.90 and have peace of mind than have to worry before and during my trip..but I tend to worry a lot though :laughing::laughing:
