travel insurance question

I am hoping that someone can help me out by answering a question regarding travel insurance. We are planning to book a flight from ACY to MCO and then take a Disney cruise. We have had some delay issues in the past and I am wondering how that works with a cruise. If a delay causes us to miss the boat, do any of the offered insurances (flight or cruise) reimburse the cost of the cruise? We are planning on flying out the night before but our last flight was delayed many, many hours and I quickly learned that the impossible, was possible. Yes, I will read the fine print on the travel insurances offered, but I am hoping that someone here might be able to lead me in the right direction.

Also, we have priced out the cost of the magical express vs the town car option. After the gratuity and booster seat cost is added, the town car is almost the same as the disney transportation. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of either type of transporation?

Thank you!

Obviously, read all documentation exceedingly carefully- your mileage may vary signficantly, based on your particular situation.

On the insurance question: If you have airfare and cruise booked as a SINGLE PACKAGE, you are increasing your CHANCES of purchased insurance covering a missed connection due to a covered delay. Note that you could purchase this insurance potentially through your travel agent, travel provider, or direct from an insurance company. Do be sure to read all language to ensure that you are covered- especially if buying travel and insurance through separate vendors.

If you have purchased insurance for your cruise and book air travel separately and independently, your cruise insurance will likely NOT cover your transportation to/from the ship. Similarly, if you purchase insurance for your air travel only, it will not cover your cruise.

If you purchase your air transportation through the cruise line in conjunction with your cruise- i.e. attached to the reservation, you may not need additional insurance- the cruise line may guarantee connections.

DME does not provide transportation from MCO to Port Canaveral- DME is Disney's transportation service between MCO and the WDW resort and is free for all resort guests. Disney cruise line transportation runs between MCO and Port Canaveral and the Disney resort and Port Canaveral. Disney cruise line transportation is NOT free.

Like the previous response stated, it depends. I am a travel agent and the travel insurance products we sell with cruises will provide coverage if you miss the ship due to certain travel delays, like weather and carrier-caused issues, and will pay the cost of lodging and food as well as the cost to fly you to the next port of call to meet up with the ship. The best advice I give my clients is to fly in to your departure port the day before your cruise departs to allow time for delays. Your best bet at this point is to check with your travel agent, and if you didn't use an agent, search online for Travel Guard products and read the description of coverage very carefully. If you still have questions about coverage you can always call the 800 number and ask them about whether there would be coverage for a missed cruise connection. Good luck.

insure my trip dot com is a website that offers trip insurance up until the day of departure. The cost is more if you wait. The most important thing about ANY travel insurance is the EXclusions so read thru those. You can call and ask questions or do it online. I have used them myself without issue. My dh was very ill and had to cancel a trip it was completely covered for us and processed. I would also pay any trip and any insurance thru a credit card (amex, visa) and that is another layer of protection is an issue arrises.
Heres hoping to a safe trip without any delays....:wizard:

Thank you very much for all of your help. I made a phone call to a private insurance company and the employee was VERY helpful. We are fully insured! Thank you again!
