Travel Industry Discounts - How to book?

:confused3 Does anyone know if this is the case of only one room discount??? My daughter just started as a TA and will not receive her IATAN card util Sept. We as a family (she lives at home) are planning a vac in Nov she would like her own room It would be nice if we could book 2 rooms connecting with her discount. Anyone??????

Yes, I believe it is only one room. The agent must occupy it. And I would make sure to book it as soon as she gets her card, because they only have a certain amount of rooms set aside for different resorts, and when they're booked they're gone. As I tried to decide what I wanted to do, I kept coming back and there would be fewer options on hotels and room types, so I finally just made a decision and booked it! And it's coming up soon! :cheer2:

Thanks for the info--we already made our reservations, so if nothing comes of it oh well

We have gone several times with my parents and each time I asked if they gave an airline employee discount and they said no ... My dad was an active employee then but now my dad is retired from United (38 years) so I guess he can no longer get this discount ... right ????
My question is ... why is it that the answers are yes sometimes and no other times ... we are planning a trip in May and my sister is active military ... I called several times but of couse the answer is "no militray discount" ... How can I be sure???

Not sure when you were asking, but airline employee discounts are newer item at Disney. My grandfather worked for DL for years and they never gave airline employee discounts. Seems like it's been within the past 5 years or so, but maybe a little longer then that.

I have been talking to different CM's and the answers for airline people are 50 % disc (up to 2 rooms). Wanted to add on the dining plan (not the free dining plan) to the ressie, but were told you can't do that. You have to go back to a rack rack or a AAA rate and then add the dining plan. I could understand if the dining was free, but not when I want to pay for it. Plus the suites are not available with the discount either. We have 9 people in our party and wanted to keep it to 2 rooms(4 adults,4 teens and 1 9yr old). :cool1:

I've been away from the boards for quite some time now...but glad to see there are so many tvl industry people here!!! I'm also an airline employee and thanks to our discounts I find the most expensive thing next to the hoppers is the dining :o)

Yay for us!!
:woohoo:

Would the discount also count for airport employees. I am able to book through hotels and some airlines as an airport/airline employee but have to show my airport RAPS? Could someone please PM me the phone number so I could check with them if they accept the pass?

Thank you

:cheer2: I'm an interliner also and use Dynamic Travel based in Southlake, Texas. The secure nonrev section of their website states that retirees are eligible for discounts at Disney hotels. You might want to try contacting them.

You can book online after registering with a valid IATAN number. You then have 48 hours to FAX Disney a copy of your card. Does anyone know how to obtain discounted tickets?

Can a TA add reg price tickets & dinning to there discounted room?

Not that I am aware of. I wanted to use my airline discount on room and pay for tickets and dining, but was told "NO." I could use my AAA discount for the room, etc.

Just booked my interline package last night. I've done it a couple of times. Sometimes they give me 50% off the rooms, sometimes it's a package deal (once it came with free mini golf tickets - something to do while waiting for the room to be ready!).

All times - it doesn't apply to any of Disney's packages (such as Dining). But, IMO, still a great deal. I just have to fax a letter on company letterhead from my supervisor stating I'm an employee in good standing.

I've always called Disney res - they're extremely helpful about it, and I've run into many who were former airline employees.

With paycuts, benefit cuts, etc... it's wonderful to still be able to go to my favorite vacation spot on a budget!

THANK YOU, DISNEY, FOR RECOGNIZING THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY IN THIS WAY!!!!! :dance3:

definately no dining option permitted unfortunately.

When I booked my TA rate back in October I got a call asking me to fax over verification of my eligibility, this is the first time ever I have been asked to do this (which I duly did) but when chatting it appears the discount is being abused by people who are not entitled so they have been more strict with bookings ........

But 50% is 50% and if it takes a fax to confirm it, hey I can do that :cheer2:

We had to fax over a copy of the IATA card within 48 hours. It was stated right on the Disney site.

Actually, this changed recently. TA's can now book a MYW package with dining. I believe you still get the room at 50% off, then pay full rate for dining and tickets. Travel dates begin Aug. 13 to Dec. :Pinkbounc

I was unable to do this unless I was booking as though for a client and getting a commission, which is then taxable. :confused3

Little help please. My wife's a travel agent, but she only does corporate travel, so she doesn't know what Disney discounts are available. WHERE online can she register her IATAN number and book a room?

Thanks.

To book the TA package with dining you have to go to disneytravelagents.com then register if you're not already registered, log in and go to the agent benefits link. The booking information is there.

I am a TA owner so maybe I can help, I am a CLIA agent. Go to www.disneytravelagents.com and start there or call the 800# for TA's and they will also help you. It is a lot easier for me since I am the agency owner, I don't have to ask for anything from anyone, so I sould not know exactly what you would need to ask your supervisor for.

You are no longer allowed to book over the phone (for TA discounted trips) it has to be done on the above website. You can call with questions and they will talk you thru it. Ater making your reservation, you will be faxed a notice that you must fax over a copy of your ID card, they give you teh fax # on the shet and it is also on the site. The ID card (IATAN or CLIA) has your TA number and your photo. That's really all they need is to make sure you are who you say you are. If you do not fax over your ID withgin 48 hours your reservation will not be cancelled BUT you rates will automatically go to rack rates for the dates you reserved.

If you want discounted tickets, there is a form you must fill out and it is just for the agent and it is not a park hopper. It also has to be approved by the travel agent department at WDW.

You can also now add the MMW and MMW + dining (under agent benefits) to your discounted room. I have not done this as the tix are not PH and am n ot interested in the DP....but it is there if you wish.
