My son’s friend is joining us on our cruise in August. She has a British passport but has worked and lived in the states for 10 years. Does she need anything other than her passport?

Where is the cruise going? She will need to check on the requirements for the ports the cruise is visiting.

If she is a US permanent resident (greencard holder) she will need her original permanent resident card along with her British passport.
Based on status, she may or may not need a visa (or ESTA visa waiver) for entry to the Bahamas and re-entry to the US.

It is critical to verify requirements through the US Dept of Homeland Security in advance, as well as any requirements of the Bahamian government.

You need to check her official immigration status. Do not assume just because she has worked and lived in the states for 10 years that she is in the US legally. If she is in the US legally and has travelled out of the US and returned to US during the last 10 years, she will know what documents are needed. You need to ask her and get get copies of her documents.

When non US citizens are going on a cruise from Florida, DCL automatically recognizes that extra documentation is needed. A section for Visas / ESTA/ Green Card information will appear and check in can not be completed until the documentation has been added.

Its not going to the ports that will be an issue, it will be actually getting on the ship, as DCL will not allow anyone to check in and board who does not have the correct documents to re enter US after the cruise. Thats the issue, not leaving US but re entry to US after the cruise.

Thank you! I asked about documentation when we booked and Disney was vague. Good to know about the green card. She always carries that.

Disney phone agents only go off the script and the majority of people they deal with are US citizens, so anything off script they wont know. I am part of UK Disney communities and its a very common issue when checking in for DCL Caribbean and Bahama cruises, people asking about the ESTA documents. The section has never appeared for me, as I only cruise in Europe.
